Shyne Resurrects Notorious B.I.G. & Bob Marley For "Belize"
Former Bad Boy Records artist Shyne will reportedly resurrect the late souls of Notorious B.I.G. and Boby Marley in a new song called "Belize."
Based on reports, the track is set to premiere online tomorrow.
Shyne is ready to get back in the spotlight and tomorrow XXLMag.com will be world premiering the formerly incarcerated MC's new song, named after his South American homeland, "Belize" Featuring posthumous appearances from former Bad Boy label mate The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Bob Marley, "Belize" finds Shyne Po rhyming over a laid back sample of the reggae legend's track, "Sun is Shining."
In fall 2009, Diddy recalled hip-hop fans always comparing Shyne to B.I.G.
"I've never had any problem with him, I was looking forward to him coming home and just getting out here and letting people see what I saw. I think it was cut down too early, people never got a chance to see what I saw. The thing that bugs me out is people forget what was going on at the time, y'all was throwing so many stones at me telling me how Shyne sounded like Biggie. All the cats up here at [New York radio station Hot 97] was throwing stones at me and I was telling them, 'Nah, the kid got something special.' At the end of the day, when everybody go to jail, a lot of people jump on the bandwagon and it was beyond that to me."
Prior to being deported to Belize last November, Shyne was held by immigration for nearly a month.
His release is now under review, as representatives for the rapper revealed that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained. "Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined," the rep said in a message to MTV News. Shyne attorney Oscar Michelen emphasized to MTV News on Tuesday afternoon that Shyne has not been released, contrary to media reports.
Last February, Island Def Jam CEO LA Reid revealed that Shyne would be signing a record deal with his company.
"I have come here to stand by Shyne and to officially kick off our partnership with Island Def Jam Music Group and Gangland Records and so it is really an honour to be here, really very special place. I am here because great people are worthy of travelling many many miles for it and I come here to say that your country is great and I hope you guys know that this is a great man from your country who deserves this kind of respect and who deserves this kind of support. So that is why we are here."
