Nicki Minaj Straps Sean Garrett To "Massive Attack" Music Video
Young Money's Nicki Minaj has added song collaborator Sean Garrett to her upcoming "Massive Attack" music video.
In addition to "Massive," the hitmaker will also re-link with Minaj for their "Get It All" music video later this month.
"I'm in my 2010 Rambo, so hard I had to let Nic pink out the Lambo/ Ya'll already know we got the ammo, massive attack," sings Sean "The Pen" Garrett on Nicki Minaj's first single, "Massive Attack," which he co-produced with Alex Da Kid. The brawny Garrett gets his Rambo on in the militaristic clip, shot against a jungle backdrop and in the desert of Lancaster, Calif. Next Friday, the singer-songwriter will head to Miami to film a video for his Barbie-assisted single "Get It All" with director Gil Green.
Minaj recently talked about recruiting model Amber Rose for the shoot.
"I brought my BFF Amber Rose out here," Nicki said in an interview. "This is a massive attack. We shot the helicopter scene. Obviously, I had to have a hot-pink Lamborghini. We're having fun in the car, and we see a freakin' helicopter chase us. So we get on the walkie-talkie, like, 'Mayday! Mayday!' It's really fashion and beauty shots, and we're acting like we're doing something important...You can expect it to be almost like the soundtrack to a movie. It's gonna take you somewhere that ... it's kinda gonna tell a story. I didn't just want to make an album that had a club record, just the obvious. I wanted to paint a very graphic picture. And every record that I'm doing for the album, I can see the stage show, I can see the video. It's just gonna be big. You can expect it to be big."
Last December, Minaj said she was aiming to drop a "classic" debut.
"The [album], that's what I'm actually getting ready to work on because I've been on the road for such a long time, I'm taking a complete hiatus for the next couple months, unfortunately, for all the promoters giving crazy offers," Minaj told DJ Whoo Kid. "And I've been turning every one because I have to put my foot down for the next few months and deliver a classic album and I already have stuff and I can't wait for the world to hear. All the stuff we talk about is fun and games and all that but the music is what's most important and I don't want all the people to be distracted by the other stuff and so I'm gonna take a break and when I come back you guys will have some very, very great music."
Minaj hinted at her hard work ethic in an interview late last year.
"Well Trina is also doing her thing," Nicki said in an interview. "To answer whether I feel pressure, of course I do and I'm a perfectionist and I want that to be, you know, I want this buzz to meet everybody's expectations, surpass everybody's expectations of the people that do support me. Because you got so many people that don't support you, but to the ones that do, they look at me and they see big things and I don't want to disappoint them. So to say I don't have pressure, I'd be lying, I do. I feel it all the time, I feel like yo, I have to make this a masterpiece."
