Big Boi Tweets "Breaking" News, Signs One-Album Def Jam Deal

OutKast's Big Boi has informed all of his Twitter followers that he has signed a one-album deal with Def Jam Records.

Despite claiming more details would come, Boi said he is now on the Def Jam roster.

"THE INK IS ON THE PAPER!!! "BREAKING NEWS!!!!" It's OFFICIAL! BIG BOI signs SOLO album DEAL with DEF JAM!!! More details to come...," he wrote late Friday (March 19) night.
His new album, Sir Luscious Leftfoot, is scheduled to come out this May.

Old rhyme partner André 3000 cameos on "Lookin 4 Ya"; the ominous, R&B-tinged "Hustle Blood" features Jamie Foxx; and "Shine Blockas," a booming, soulful jam with Gucci Mane, is already an underground hit. The release has been repeatedly delayed as Big Boi negotiates with his record label, but that's given him time to live with the music. "If I can listen to it every day for years," he says, "I know fans will wear it out when they get it."
He recently said that the album was still being recorded.

"The album is done," says Big Boi. "Right now I'm just shooting videos. I'ma shoot a video for just about every song on the album. I shot like five videos so far, for the past three weeks. I've been editing those videos... it's coming man it's coming. I know everybody's been waiting and I'm anxious to give it to them. But it will be here soon. Trust me."
Last year, Boi said the album would not drop on Def Jam.

"It's not even on Def Jam," Boi explained in an interview. "It's not even on Def Jam. I was in a little situation, the [journalist] jumped in the interview, we was in the midst of talks and then in the midst of that, some more things happened and we in a great situation right now. That'll be announced very soon. The album should be out I think -- in about 12 weeks maybe. So you know, it's coming real soon."
