Fox News Knocks Out LL Cool J Interview From Broadcast
Fox News has reportedly decided to edit out a 2008 LL Cool J interview originally scheduled to be aired on its "Real American Stories: Hosted by Sarah Palin" broadcast tomorrow evening.
According to reports, the decision was based on ethics after complaints claimed audiences were being misled in the program's promotional advertising.
LL Cool J, who had a hit called "Mamma Said Knock You Out," got a segment spotlighting him knocked off Sarah Palin's inspirational new show for the Fox News Channel - after complaining the clip was actually a two-year-old interview being re-aired without his permission. Less than 24 hours after Fox announced the launch of Palin's series "Real American Stories," LL Cool J, now starring in CBS' "NCIS: Los Angeles," was claiming people were being mislead.
Earlier today, LL informed fans of the network's decision to use out-dated footage.
"Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW," he wrote on Twitter. "@stevexumba Fox lifted interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & R misrepresenting to public 2 promote Palins Show."
Based on Wednesday morning reports, LL's face is shown during the commercial.
A promotion for the show - called "Real American Stories: Hosted by Sarah Palin" - features an announcer saying, "They're famous faces. Now hear the real story behind their incredible lives." In addition to LL Cool J, country music star Toby Keith and former General Electric CEO Jack Welch are pictured.
The show is scheduled to debut tomorrow (April 1) evening on Fox News.
"Real American Stories" is scheduled to have its premiere on Fox News Channel on Thursday night. On its Web site, Fox News said the show would profile people who have "given back, given all and never given up." Among the guests that Fox News is announcing in an advertisement for the first episode are the country musician Toby Keith; Jack Welch, the former chairman of General Electric; and LL Cool J, the rapper and star of "NCIS: Los Angeles."
