Jae Millz Heats Up XXL Freshmen Controversy, "Why Wasn't Jay Electronica On The Top 10 Cover?"
Young Money's Jae Millz may have added fuel to the fire by naming more artists he feels should have made XXL Magazine's Freshmen 2010 listing.
Writing via Twitter, Millz suggested artists like Jay Electronica and Waka Flocka Flame deserved a spot on the magazine's annual cover.
"im gettin tired of everybody with this XXL Freshman sh*t!! Smfh," he wrote Wednesday (March 31). " S.O 2 EVERYBODY that was on da Top 10 Cover!! but i only kno @nipseyhussle @JColeNC @jayrock @realwizkhalifa & OJ!! & So do YOU! Happy now? its no hate & i have no malice toward any of the Top 10 Freshmen!! I wish them ALL the best!! but i am a HUMAN.. & we ALL have OPINIONS! #Random why wasn't @jayelectronica on the XXL Top 10 Freshmen cover???? Don't worry.. I'll wait......... #OnSomeGSh*t my homie @IMGUDDAGUDDA shouldve made that cover too!!.. Along with @WakaFlocka1017 don't baleev me? #AskDaStreets I said what i said....Thats that!!!.. Now get over it!! Life goes on... Well @ least mines does. Yall fail 2 realize, THIS IS FUN!! im a jokester @ heart that just happens 2 know how 2 put words 2gether creatively!! Dont do it lol"
Eariier this week, footage of Millz talking about the cover made headlines.
"I don't feel no sort of way about me not being in the Top 10 but can't no n*gga tell me that my n*gga Vado ain't supposed to be on that cover or on the flip cover of that XXL Top 10 Freshmen issue," Millz said in an interview. "Can't nobody tell me that, and if you do want to argue with me, you can argue with me about anything because I only know five n*ggas out of the ten n*ggas on that cover. And my ears [are] to the streets...I'm not even gonna say the name of the n*ggas I know, that's gonna single n*ggas out or whatever, but n*ggas know whose supposed to be on that cover and n*ggas know who ain't supposed to be on that f*cking cover."
Nipsey Hussle addressed the controversy on Twitter.
'N*ggaz got they pantys in a bunch over that xxl cover....," he wrote Tuesday (March 30) night. "and 4 tha record if u been rappin 10 years and ain't drop yet....its over! -Nh."
When asked his opinion, J. Cole said he understood Millz's stance on the situation.
"I haven't," Cole said when asked if he was familiar with Vado. "But I did see that -- I heard he co-signed him. I don't know who in particular he was talking about and I don't know him but if that's his opinion, that's his opinion. Like, that's how I feel. I don't feel any type of ill will towards him for saying that, if that's how he feels, he's sticking up for his man there. That's what it is but I feel like whoever is on that cover would beg to differ. I personally, it don't matter to me because I know what I deserve and what I don't deserve. I know what I work for. But I feel like, I don't know, everybody on that cover could make that case, if you ask them."
