Dr. Dre Goes In-House For "Detox" Production

Rap pioneer Dr. Dre is reportedly working in-house with Aftermath producers Chocolate and DJ Silk for his long-awaited Detox album.

According to rap veteran Kokane, he has also submitted work for Dre's next LP.

"I was camped out for a couple days with him and [Aftermath Entertainment in-house producers] Chocolate and [DJ] Silk," he said in an interview. "They're working on the record, the Detox. And I just submitted a couple of songs that - So it's looking real good, and sh*t's gonna be awesome... All I can say, watch what that dude do. Man, it's whew!"

Recent reports suggest Detox will land in stores this fall.

Will we be able to get our hands on Detox this year? Dr. Dre provided the latest update on when his long-delayed opus will finally arrive in stores. "The song with Jay-Z should be out next month. We'll see how that goes," the Doc told Terrence and Rocsi on Wednesday's "106 & Park." The first single, "Under Pressure," features Jay-Z and production from Scott Storch. As for the album, Dre gave us a reason to want a short summer. "Hopefully at the beginning of fall," he revealed.

Producer Scott Storch recently shared his thoughts on what Detox will have to offer.

"I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they hear it. It's definitely a departure from a lot of the stuff Dre has done and the stuff Dre and I have done in the past. It's a hybrid...I think he's looking for like three more records...So that should take about 400 records to get those three. He's got pretty high standards."

Recent reports claimed the "Under Pressure" single was delayed because of Eminem.

Alright, enough with the jokes. Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine did an interview on Skyrock radio in France a little while ago and here's the information being supplied by my sources who heard them live: 1. 'Under Pressure's release was delayed because Eminem decided to drop his new one 'Not Afraid' first, which was not the original plan. 2. They now have another single ready, other than 'Under Pressure' but have not decided which one will come out first. They did stress on releasing it this Summer though. 3. They reaffirmed the fact that Detox will be out this year. Who here still has hopes?

Havoc Explains His Problem With "Old" Rappers, "If You Haven't Gotten On By 30, Try Something Else" [Video]

Mobb Deep's Havoc recently shared his thoughts on rappers trying to break into the music industry past the age of 30.

From Hav's perspective, 30-year old emcees should consider the difficulty they would encounter fighting rap's age factor.

"Here's my problem, now Jay-Z killed it, killed the game, he could do that and if somebody was in that same position, I feel they could do it," Hav explained in an interview with DJ Vlad. "But if you haven't already gotten on and you past 30, then I think you should [stop]. That's my opinion and not to kill anybody's dreams that's trying because it's just my opinion -- it's in my strong opinion that if you haven't gotten on by the time that you're 30 and you're past your 30's, try something else. And especially if you don't have any money. Because then you're wasting time. And there's probably a million motherf*ckers 30 and past it that could prove me wrong, but I'm just saying in my strong opinion."

Last year, Jay-Z talked about nearing 40 and still wanting to have a long-run in hip-hop.

"I hear it all the time -- 'Yo, he should let the young guys, the new generation of guys come in,'" Jay explained in an interview. "But you don't become the front-runner in music because someone lets you. You have to claim your shoes...If you grow up listening to hip-hop, you love hip-hop and that's the end of it. But if you're a 30 year-old rapper still trying to make music like you're 15, then you're making it narrow. At my age, I can't relate to a 15 year-old. I deal with mature and relevant topics for my age group -- it has to all be based on true emotions. The more diversity and the more mature we make hip-hop, the bigger the net you cast."

Rap pioneer Rakim also discussed the age issue with SOHH last fall.

"Yeah, I think what's happening is, rappers are becoming, especially for people that love a rapper, rap and hip-hop come to party," Rakim explained. "You can't just put it down. It's not likesports where you know, you lose a step. You can lose skills in rapping of course, but it's a little different man and I think sitting back and watching the R&B genre, you got, at any awards show and you see brothers like Al Green come out and tear it down. It's longevity in R&B...I just touched 40, but still, I don't plan on stop listening to rap anytime soon and I don't plan stop rhyming no time soon and it's that tug-of-war with the fans. Every time you see the fans or go to a show, they're like 'Yo, do another album,' so it's like that love between the two, the fans and your music. I think we should stretch out our age limit as far as hip-hop 'cause if that's the case, I think when brothers grow up they just want to leave rap entirely and listen to other genres of music so I think there is room for a little mature sound of hip-hop, for the older, grown and sexy, whatever you wanna call it."

50 Cent, already in his mid-30's, recently said he would likely never hang up the microphone.

"I don't think I'll retire - I think you should look forward to me going behind the scenes more, I still have passion for music," he said in an interview. "The music business itself has changed. If you can't figure out how to develop the brand extension and opportunities that allow you to build up the marketing dollar, I don't see how you can continue to be a superstar."

Lil Wayne Still Grinding Behind Bars, Says Cory Gunz [Video]

Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne is still putting in work despite being behind bars, according to newly signed Young Money artist Cory Gunz.
Click here to find out more!

According to Cory, he shares a special bond with Wayne which surpasses artist-boss ties.

"I think Wayne is really one of the only people that understands me," Cory told DJ Envy in an interview. "Him and Mack [Maine], for him to reach out and understand [is great]. His spirits are up, you know, but nobody wants to be in that position. I know I wouldn't. For the position that he's in, he's spirits are definitely up, he's holding his own. Shout-out to Weezy again, he'll be out real soon and his spirits are high and everything and he's good. He's still working, getting things taken care of from where he's at."

Earlier this month, Gunz gave his reaction to being recently signed onto Young Money.

"Shout out to Wayne for giving me a shot. He kept it real. All I'mma say, that this is it. This is what it is. Everybody just better get ready...Wayne is gonna executive-produce the album," he explained in an interview. "I trust his insight. He's going to be overseeing everything. I'm gonna keep doing the things I been doing. I think that's what's gotten me noticed. I'mma just keep my grind moving. Whatever ventures I can do, I'm bringing my familythrough. My whole team is gonna eat. I'm just telling everybody to get ready...I haven't met Nicki [Minaj] yet. Me and [Drake] met a while back when they was doing the I Am Music Tour in Arizona."

Speculation on Wayne signing Gunz developed last March.

Lil Wayne is turning himself in today but last night he spent time live on webcam where he first talked about his recent show with Jay-Z at Madison Square Garden. Wayne later said that Cory Gunz would be the next artist on his Young Money label. "Shout out to my n---a Cory Gunz, about to be the newest member of the Young Money team." Gunz tweeted over the weekend, "LOL. Young Money!!!!!!"

Wayne was officially sentenced to a year behind bars in early March.

Lil Wayne has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty in a New York City gun case. The Grammy Award-winning rapper was taken away in handcuffs to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing. He'll serve his sentence in city jails, not a state prison. He could be released in about eight months with good behavior.

Maino Breaks Down Nicki Minaj's Steez, "It's Easy For Us To Say [Lil] Kim Started The Barbie Thing" [Video]

New York rapper Maino recently broke down Nicki Minaj's style and said Lil Kim is responsible for sparking the "Barbie Movement."

From Maino's perspective, Minaj will always be second to Kim as an emcee.

"Kim is always gonna be, in my eyes, the best that ever done it," Maino said in an interview with DJ Vlad. "[Best] female in the game. The best female that ever done it. Nicki has that new energy and I'm liking that energy, I'm liking what she's doing. A lot of artists borrow from great artists and make it they own. It's easy for us to say Kim started the Barbie thing and now Nicki has her Barbie movement going on but a lot of times, artists borrow from artists and they expand on that so I can't really say she's wrong for that, maybe she was a fan of Kim's, I'm sure, growing up. And this was a part of what she was doing that she identified with and made it her own. I'm a fan of what she's doing -- I like to see anybody do their thing, especially if I know them...I like to see people excel because I'm excelling."

Recently, rapper Lil Cease discussed Minaj's similarities to Kim.

"Nicki ain't really got too much competition out there. Ain't too many female rappers out there. But she's a female, one that's bringing the sex appeal back to it. No matter what Kim talked about, she had the appeal to it. Kim would dress up. She looked like a lady. Kim could rap about the hardest thing ever, but she would still dress up: hair done, she still got on the flyest stuff. Nicki is kinda taking it to that same mind frame. She's having fun with it too."

Earlier this year, Lloyd Banks suggested Minaj's style was influenced by Kim.

"[Laughs] Sheesh. I would go with Nicki right now," he said in an interview. "Yeah, I like her as an artist. We came up in the same era, we were around the same age so I'm pretty sure one of her influences was probably Lil Kim and nothing is really reminding of the impact Kim had, since Nicki came. To have a concert and have a hundred Nickies in the front row... not too many new artists come and have a following like that. So you definitely have to acknowledge that."

Working on his upcoming album, Day After Tomorrow, Maino recently released his new single "Don't Say Nothin'."

Today, he's back with 'Don't Say Nothing,' a cut that he's hoping will leave his haters lost for words. Basing his boardwork around a sample from Shawty Lo's 'Dey Know (Remix),' Mistah Raja mixes strings, synths and bass-booming percussion as Maino reminds us what a crazy M.F.-er he is. Dirty Money member Kalenna steps up to the mic to vouch for the headliner's claims of insanity, contributing a minimal but memorable hook. So, readers, does this track leave you speechless - and, if so, is that good speechless or bad speechless? If it's the former, stay tuned; the artist's sophomore set , Day After Tomorrow, has yet to receive a drop date from the label brass, but we'll keep you posted.

Tupac Shakur Rises From The Dead, "Training Day" Director Confirms Biopic

Training Day director Antoine Fuqua has reportedly confirmed rumors of a Tupac Shakur biopic being in the works.

Fuqua hopes to begin production on the film this fall.

"It looks like we're doing Tupac Shakur's movie next in September, that's what I've been starting up and working on now," he said. "I've been working on that for a while with Morgan Creek and Jim Robinson. I just got the greenlight from him and we're going in September. I've just started to prep that." Fuqua added that he is hoping to find an unknown actor to portray the iconic hip-hop star, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996. "That's the goal, I want to discover someone new," he explained. "I want to discover a lot of new people if I can. Obviously I'm going to have to put some people in it that you know, just because actors have different skills. I want to go to the streets and find him anywhere he might be in the world."

Last year, the rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur, began a legal battle for Pac's life rights.

A legal turf war has broken out between production company Morgan Creek and the estate of Tupac Shakur. Morgan Creek has sued Amaru Entertainment, the company run by Afeni Shakur, the late rapper's mother and executor, alleging in a Los Angeles Superior Court filing that the company has backed out of an agreement to sell his life rights for a film adaptation.

Earlier this year, Fuqua spoke with SOHH about rappers trying their hand at acting.

"You know what man, I got love for anybody that's just trying to do different things as an artist, it's great. If they want to move into whatever other thing they want to do, as far as acting is concerned, the thing I don't like about it is sometimes rappers think you can fake your way through real acting. You can't fake your way through real acting. A lot of cats have to really learn what they're doing and what the craft is, you know what I mean? And it's so that they can be stronger at it. So that they are real actors then, I only have an issue when they try to jump right into it and just do it just because they're popular rappers. You know, you see them on the screen and they just don't, it doesn't translate. It's not translating the way it does when they're behind the mic, nobody can really see them or when they're in their little zone doing their thing."

2Pac was fatally shot in Las Vegas over ten years ago.

While his celebrity was at its peak, he publicly fought with his rival, the Notorious B.I.G., and there were tensions brewing at Death Row. Even with such conflicts, however, 2Pac's drive-by shooting in September 1996 came as an unexpected shock. On September 13, six days after the shooting, 2Pac passed away, leaving behind a legacy that was based as much on his lifestyle as it was his music.

No further details have been revealed as of now.

Fabolous Sets The Record Straight On Kat Stacks, "Why Would I Send A Dude To Smack A Girl?"

New York rapper Fabolous has stepped forward to clear the air on his alleged recent involvement with groupie Kat Stacks being assaulted by his entourage.

Writing via Twitter, Fab played down the rumors and questioned Stacks' credibility.

"It's sad y'all believe anything y'all hear & see on the internet.. Especially from someone as credible as Kat Stacks *Smh*"

"Why would I SEND a DUDE to smack a GIRL?? But I know who sent someone to smack her... KARMA!! #RealSh*t."

On Friday (May 28), Stacks accused Fab of having his associates physically abuse her.

"yes its true @myfabolouslife sent people today to smack me up at the bar & they stole my phone & recorded it. i dare yall to blast it."

"got my a** wooped? it was 2 n*ggas yelling @myfabolouslife & @bowwow name ... im a female u got 2 n*ggas to hit me LOL lame."

Fab recently denied being romantically linked to Stacks.

"I've never met Kat Stacks," Fab promised in an interview with Tim Westwood. "I'm a hundred percent sure. [laughs] Let me tell you how I 'almost' met Kat Stacks. We were doing a video, 'Body Ya,' we were doing a video and we had girls from Twitterand the Internet or whatever, sending pictures to be a part of the video. And Kat Stacks was one of the girls who sent a picture in. Unfortunately, she didn't get chosen for the video. I think it was the bangs, the bangs weren't working, they were too low and we wouldn't have been able to see her -- this was before she was so key, because it was right before she went and did the Internet thing."

Stacks later responded and questioned Fab's own claims.

"I just watched this interview with Fabolous talking sh*t about me talking about I tried to audition for the 'Body Ya' video but I didn't get hired because my bangs were too long," Stacks said in a video. "First of all motherf*cker, he tried to pay me $200 to work overtime from Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For $200? I been a stripper since I was 15. The least strippers make is $800. We make over a [thousand] every night, you trying to pay me with $200? Ah h*ll nah motherf*cker...And then he want to claim he don't know me, like we didn't f*ck at Crown Plaza Hotel in Manhattan? Tell them how good my p*ssy was. Hit up Fabolous, his number is 917....."

Eminem "Not Afraid" Or Camera Shy, Announces New Music Video Release

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has decided to treat fans to a visual for his "Not Afraid" single by releasing its music video next weekend.

Writing via Twitter, Em broke the news late Saturday (May 29) night.

"For those 'patiently waiting', the NOT AFRAID video will premier Saturday 6/5. Details later...#recovery"

The single made Billboard history earlier this month.

Eminem will join a very elite club tomorrow when the new Billboard Hot 100 singles chart is unveiled. "Not Afraid" is the lead single from Eminem's new album "Recovery," due out on June 22. The single is the first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since Oct. 17, 2009, when Britney Spears' "3" danced in at No. 1. "Afraid" is only the second rap single to start at No. 1 following "I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112, which began its 11-week run at the summit on the chart dated June 14, 1997.

Last week, Em also treated fans to the unveiling of his album's two artwork covers.

Just ripped these from Em's site. I'm sure higher resolutions will come soon. Hit the jump for the second one. If I had to guess, I would say the first image represents everyone watching him, and the second is supposed to show "the long road to Recovery" for him. Just personal thoughts. Any other ideas?

A tracklisting for Recovery was recently released online.

1. Cold Wind Blows 2. Talkin' 2 Myself Feat. Kobe 3. On Fire 4. Won't Back Down Ft. Pink 5. W.T.P. 6. Going Through Changes 7. Not Afraid 8. Seduction 9. No Love Ft. Lil Wayne 10. Space Bound 11. Cinderella Man 12. 25 to Life 13. So Bad 14. Almost Famous 15. Love the Way You Lie Ft. Rihanna 16. You're Never Over

Eminem's Recovery is scheduled to drop Tuesday, June 22nd.

Bizzy Bone To Fight Marijuana, Alcohol Addiction On "Celebrity Rehab"

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's ex-member Bizzy Bone is reportedly set to come clean on his marijuana and alcohol addiction by participating in the planned upcoming "Celebrity Rehab" television series.

According to reports, Bizzy is one of three other entertainers likely to appear on the reality show's next season.

TMZ has learned Celebrity Rehab is all set to add another star to its cast -- "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony" rapper Bizzy Bone. We're told Bizzy - real name Byron McCane -- wants to seek treatment for an addiction to marijuana and alcohol. As we've previously reported, the producers behind the VH1reality show starring Dr. Drew have been on a mission to lock down a cast -- and fast ... or else the show could be in danger. If the show survives -- Bizzy could join Tila Tequila and Jason Wahler inside the rehab facility.

Recently, incarcerated rapper DMX was denied an opportunity to leave an Arizona jail and appear on "Celebrity Rehab."

According to a rep for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona, the judge rejected the rapper's petition for one reason -- he's already doing really well in the Arizona court-appointed substance abuse program, which ends early in July. After that, the judge says, DMX can pursue treatment at Dr. Drew's facility -- but by then, taping will already have begun for "Celeb Rehab" and X will have missed his chance.

Bizzy has accused his former crew of kicking him out of their group in 2003 due to his addiction.

"When they put me out of the group, not only did they put me out, they said I was unreasonable, I couldn't be worked with, I was an alcoholic and a drug addict," Bizzy Bone told AllHipHop.com in 2004. "So therefore I couldn't do any business with anyone else, and everybody was scared to do business with me."

The show's third season premiered in January and began its three-season run in 2008.

"Celebrity Rehab" is the first television series to chronicle the real life experiences of a group of celebrities as they make the life-changing decision to enter themselves into a drug, alcohol, and addiction treatment program. They each have the sincere desire to achieve rehabilitation and recovery.

No further details on Bizzy's involvement or a confirmed season four have been announced.

Bizzy Bone previously appeared on "America's Most Wanted" to discuss his troubled childhood.

Rick Ross Hits The Tweets Hard, "Last Night I Cried Tears Of Joy, What Did I Do To Deserve This?"

With the popularity of Twitter continuing to grow, Rick Ross has become its latest rapper to join the huge social network this weekend.

Writing in his first tweets Saturday (May 29) night, Ross reflected on the material success he has achieved from being a commercial rapper.

"My 1st tweet...last nite I cried tears of joy,wut did I do to deserve this?vacheron on my wrist,a year ago I didn't kno the bitches exist..."

"Rick ross just got a twitter!! Hit him up and follow him at!!! @Rickyrozay Welcome the boss! Send him a message and follow rt to the world!"

Although known for its social networking advantages, rappers Jim Jones and Fabolous recently caught themselves going after one another with subliminal tweets.

"I just seen another rappers video tht look just like me chain gang n scarf dam I'm sonnin these n*ggaz I gues my style might body ya lol wht," he wrote Tuesday (March 30) afternoon. "RT @ChrisLuck83: these n*ggas mad I think cuz he found out he was @jimjonescapo son when he was wishin it was jay who forgot to wear a r New app on iPhones .. jimjones How to get fresh 101 ... free scarf n belt included lol owwwwww lmao G.O.R in Harlem now Can I atleast get a thnku for gettin ur Twitter acct poppin lol I'm out I quit I quit pow pow play dead lol"

"Oh so it's time 4 subliminal tweets huh?? Ok cool..#TellMeWhyUMad I'm mad cuz it's over for that ballin.... Brooklynnnnnnnnnnnnnnn," Fab wrote. "#TwitterRules If u wanna get at me, @ me... Last year, Kid Cudi gave his reasons for not wanting to have a Twitter page.

"I have an iPhone and I don't even utilize all of the applications on it," Cudi explained. "Just alone on an iPhone you can have multiple e-mails -- I have two e-mails -- text messaging, some people have AIM on there, MySpace, Facebook -- and I don't even have those things...With Twitter, my two e-mails, text messaging, and my phone ringing, that's just overwhelming. And you gotta think of it like this, what did they do before there were cell phones? Use a pay phone or write a letter. Or you catch 'em at the crib....I think I want to take it back to that. Sometimes it just shouldn't be that easy for you to get in contact with me."

Kid Cudi Guns Down Late Summer "Man On The Moon 2" Release, "It'll Be Awhile"

Rapper Kid Cudi has updated fans on the status of his upcoming Man on the Moon 2 album, saying a late summer release is likely.

Writing via his blog, Cudder also talked about his new "Dance Yrself Clean"-inspired record which features Chip Tha Ripper.

"thanx for all the love on the new joint yall. i really appreciate it sincerely. this was a idea i had that me and Chip decided to do for fun. as of right now its not on anything, we just recorded it and put it out just for the f*ck of it. itll be awhile til MOTM2 (still gunnin' for Aug release or Sept), so i might keep releasing some fun joints here and there. ill keep you all posted faaashow."

Cudi's new record landed online late this week and also features a sample of actor Christian Bale.

When evaluating LCD Soundsystem's newest, we said This Is Happening opener "Dance Yrself Clean" gets things going perfectly. It's a great establishing shot, Murphy suggesting you laugh things off and cut a rug instead, even when the push/pull remains. Seeing that instrumental opening section as a blank slate, Kid Cudi takes the song -- or at least a 3:36 chunk of it -- in a different direction and calls it "All Talk." He starts things off with a sample of Christian Bale's Terminator: Salvation-set rant and ends with Murphy's "except you are an actual jerk and living proof..." Between that, we get verses from Cudi and -- as KC notes over at his site -- Chip Tha Ripper.

Producer Jim Jonsin recently talked about producing a Cudi and Kanye West record.

"We did one song together which is kind of rock-influenced," Jonsin said in an interview. "It was something I wanted to do with [Cudi] and just see where he would go. I played him a couple of tracks and decided to play him this batch here and he really liked this one with this rock influence. We tamed it down just a little bit, light weight, he was all open to do it and he killed it, wrote the top line and I helped him with some melodies, he killed one record...We did another record where I sampled a Duran Duran record. Kanye and Kid Cudi supposedly did that in the studio together and killed it but I haven't got it yet. From what I heard, it's a mix man. It's kind of some club stuff, some hip-hop traditional rap stuff, and then some rock-pop stuff. He's gong everywhere, it's similar to what B.o.B. is doing. These new artists are really trying to reach out to new people and fans."

Last month, Cudder announced changing the title of his album from Cudder & The Revolution of Evolution.

"WHY? i started making this project like a collab album, filled with fun and upbeat records that for the most part left you with jack sh*t when you were finished listening. i took a step back, went on tour, and realized im where im at because of the type of songs i write. every time i read a comment from someone saying ive touched their lives in some way is what made me want to stop f*cking around and continue pouring my life into my music. MOTM2 is dark by nature and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, im bringing you into my reality. good and bad. it will explain more of who iam aswell as pushing the envelope musically. this project will focus on many dark, fun, and ignorant moments in my life since ive been kid cudi in a exciting and cinematic nature continuing the MOTM theme. this is my darkest work so far with a hint of fun and grooviness for those who like the classic chill cudi sound but elevated to another level. the things i cant speak will be the things i write. before anything else, you'd come to the conclusion i need a shrink, a stronger drug or a mentor. not a hug. a lot of you have read the news and think they know cudi, got some slick sh*t to say amongst your peers or just flat out hate me but you havnt the slightest clue of who iam. i will tell the story of Mr. Rager...."

Jacki-O Says Peers Dreaming Up Nicki Minaj Beef, "They Wanna See If I'm Gonna Take Shots"

Southern rapper Jacki-O recently talked about the public's hope of her taking on a potential rap beef with female newcomer Nicki Minaj.

Jacki claims she would never catch herself sparking a confrontation with Minaj and said she supported the New York emcee's rap movement.

"A lot of people ask me about [Nicki] and I think they wanna see if I'm gonna take shots... I've never been a hater. When I came in the game I never stepped on toes. As a female, you're being competitive when you rap and you may say little things while you rappin' but to come straight out and just take shots at another female, I never did that 'cause I never felt like I had to do that. I seen her bubblin' from the beginning. She reached out to me a couple times. We never got to a chance to work, but I always had words of encouragement for her, like, "Keep doin' ya thing, and just do you." And now that I see she's doin' that, she gon' get shot at [by other people]. I say, go for it, fuck 'em! Excuse my language, but just do you! If you look back and entertain the foolishness, then it's gonna take you off your focus, so, you know, I just say do you, and keep it moving!"

Earlier this month, model/rapper Gloria Velez dropped her "Roger Dat" diss track directed toward Nicki.

"I'm in a six-speed drop and I'm sick with the clutch / I'm bout to go in on this bitch like a d*** in her guts / Come on Nicki? Is you licking or what? / How many silicone shots you gonna stick in your butt?" Velez opens the freestyle with. She goes on to throw several jabs at Minaj, poking fun at her alleged plastic surgeryenhancements, comparing her flow to a rapper with Tourette's syndrome, and even accuses her of providing sexual favors to land a record deal. "It's Glo, Murda Mami, strapped up, emergency / I wasn't gonna do it, but bitch you keep urging me / You better run and use extreme urgency / brain f***ed up, too much plastic surgery," Velez spits. "No matter how many times you bat your eye lashes / It ain't gonna take away from the fact that you trash-ess," she later raps, before adding: "Remember you came out a Lil Kim clone? / then you started sounding like your got Tourette's syndrome."

The diss track dropped shortly after Southern rapper Khia publicly went after Minaj's image.

"I don't know if she's Nick, I don't know if she's a Barbie. I tell everybody, we don't have Barbies in the hood. Boos, there wasn't no Barbies sitting on the stoop, love who you are. Hip-Hop is supposed to be real, hip-hop is supposed to be where the real people hang and I think it's a lot of infiltrators coming in..."

Recently, Minaj took on the "haters" with a personal message to them.

"There are some that say something positive," Nicki said in an interview. "You should be happy I'm here even though I'm showing you b*tches how to do it. But umm, I get more love than hate. So you know, it's expected when people see there's one person getting shine, it makes them feel unhappy with themselves. The small minded people feel unhappy with themselves. The intelligent girls take the things that they like from me and my journey and apply it to their journey. If I had it my way, that's what they'd all do. Everyone is not going to like Nicki Minaj. Everyone's not going to like the way I look or what I do but I think if you're smart you'd take from me and figure out why everyone is talking about me. That'd be the 'smart' thing to do. I don't think they know how to express that so they express it with anger, jealousy and hatred and that consumes them and I'm still here."

Rick Ross Is An A-Town Stomper, "To Really Stay On Top Of Your Beats, You Should Have Presence In Atlanta"

Southern rapper Rick Ross recently highlighted the advantages of being an Atlanta, Georgia artist and why the A may have the best production in comparison to other regions.

Despite his admiration toward Atlanta, Ross still declared his loyalty to hometown city, Miami.

Ross is often in Atlanta. He opened up about why he spends so much time these days at his house in Georgia. "Atlanta is a great place to resonate and meet a lot of producers," he said. "It's a great wealth of producers here, I believe more than any major city in the South. To really stay on top of your beats as an artist or make big moves -- you should have a presence in Atlanta." But Ross was quick to point out he hadn't made a permanent relocation, telling the magazine, "I don't live here. Miami is my primary spot. I own three studios and this is one of them."

Recently, Cam'ron also highlighted the advantages of working from the A.

"We got a bunch of stuff going on," Cam explained recently. "I got my solo album to do. We got 'Killa Season 2' soundtrack. 'Cousin Bang, the Movie' soundtrack. To keep it 100, down South, they got a lot of hot beats with no samples. We're trying to just get a different vibe. I did four of my albums in New York, one in Chicago, one in L.A. But I never did an album recording in Atlanta. So me and Vado came down here to get a different vibe. We're gonna be down here for a few months recording and working."

Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris credited his hometown for inspiring new hits like "How Low Can You Go."

"Man, how do my lyrics come to me? I draw inspiration from everywhere but I can definitely say living in Atlanta, Georgia, going to a variety of places, 'How Low Can You Go' and 'My Chick Bad,' I think I got those just living in Atlanta Georgia and just living every day regular life, strip clubs, beautiful women, 'How Low Can You Go,' and 'My Chick Bad.' There you have it."

Outside of music, Ross recently explained how he deals with the public's misconceptions of himself.

"There's always gonna be misconceptions," Ross explained in an interview with Boss Lady. "There's always gonna be opinions and they not necessarily bad. Because a lot of times, people learn things in time. So what could have been a misconception last year, with a lot of people, isn't a misconception this year. I always had thick skin growing up. I was always the fat black dude with the cheap shoes on. I always had thick skin when it came to jokes or whatever and I could always tell a good joke. I could tell a great joke...'

Swizz Beatz Stresses Love In First Post-Alicia Keys Pregnancy, Engagement Tweet

Producer Swizz Beatz has shared his first public tweet since this week's confirmation of his engagement to singer Alicia Keys.

On his tweet, Beatz stressed the importance of love toward family members.

"Much peace to everybody this weekend have fun be safe and remember to love your brothers and sisters hate is for the weak minded #ULTRA."

Confirmation of his engagement with Keys was released on Thursday (May 28).

Alicia Keys is in a motherhood state of mind: She's pregnant with her first child. The Grammy Award-winning R&B singer has been dating producer Swizz Beatz, who has written hits for Beyonce (bee-AHN'-say), Jay-Z and others. They're engaged to be married at a private ceremony later this year. Representatives for the couple confirmed the news Thursday night.

Beatz's ex-wife, Mashonda, recently filed a lawsuit against the producer in New York.

In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Mashonda Dean says the man who officially became her ex-husband two weeks ago already owes her $334,000 in missed payments. "I so much wanted both of us to get on with our lives and maintain our respect for one another, but he now shows that his priorities and sense of responsibility are screwed up," R&B singer Dean said. Dean's lawyer, Bernard Clair, called the nonpayment "particularly troubling" because of reports that Beatz bought a seven-carat engagement ring for Alicia Keys earlier this year and that they're moving into a $14.5 million duplex penthouse on Crosby Street.

However, Beatz has defended himself and refuted his ex-wife's claims.

He said he'd agreed to pay Dean more than the judge required and much more than his lawyer recommended -- he even had to sign court papers acknowledging that he was going against his attorney's advice. "I gave over what the judge was recommending to give. I gave her $700,000 up front, because I thought $200,000 wasn't enough for what she wanted to do. I still get spit in my face for it," he said. He suggested that the subsequent payments had been ready to go when he discovered "she'd been selling all my stuff out of my house."

No further details have been revealed as of now.

Game Not Down With Selling Out, "I Don't Think I Need To Do All That"

West Coast rapper Game recently talked about the lackluster promotion of his upcoming R.E.D. Album and said he does need to over-sell himself for the fans.

From Game's perspective, he has earned a strong fan following.

The rapper says he believes seniority in music equates with not having to promote upcoming projects, and that's exactly the approach he's taking for the release of his fourth studio album. "I'm not into promoting. I give you a date, and if you're a Game fan, then you'll get the album," the West Coast rapper says matter-of-factly about his upcoming album, "R.E.D.," due July 6 on Interscope Records. "I don't sell myself. This is my fourth album. I don't think I need to do all that...Generally I just wake up in the morning and I live life and I make my decisions as far as music goes based on how I'm feeling that day."

The rapper's new album recently got pushed back from a June to July release date.

The summer release schedule is getting one more shake-up. Game's R.E.D. Album has been moved to July. The rapper's fourth LP has been delayed one week to July 6 from its previous June 29 date. Other releases that week include Kelis' Flesh Tone and Big Boi's Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.

Game previously talked about competing on June 15th with Drake's debut album.

"Nah man, it's just a package deal, you should go and support hip-hop, go get Thank Me Later and go grab R.E.D. and you good," Game said in an interview. "You know you're good, then the next week you come back and buy Eminem, great. June is gonna be a big month. So no, it's no competition. Everything don't gotta be a competition and we're not even the same type of [artist,] we're not in the same lane. I respect what he does and I talked to him before, he's a fan of mine so we'll just keep it like that and put it out, people will go and buy them and who cares who's number one, number two, it don't make no sense to me because I've been around and sold millions of records already. I have nothing else to prove."

Game recently released a statement discussing the project being co-produced.

It has been was announced that Pharrell will be co-executive producing the album, along with Game. Previously, the Star Trak founder did this with albums from Snoop Dogg and Slim Thug. Additionally, Game released a statement, "[Dr.] Dre is a Hip Hop legend and one of the reasons I'm making music. To be working so closely with him again...man, I don't even have words to describe it...my two favorite producers are helping me with the direction of this album, I couldn't be in a better position."

Game's R.E.D. Album is set to drop Tuesday, July 6th.

Kanye West's "Power" Jacked From Rhymefest, Says Producer

The producer behind Kanye West's new "Power" record has come forward to say it was initially made for fellow Chi-town rapper Rhymefest.

According to Symbolyc One, Yeezy gave the track a musical face lift.

"The 'Power' joint that we did, it was actually a track that I already made and gave to Rhymefest, and he just so happened to play it for Kanye in the studio and he loved it. So when I got out to Hawaii, Kanye had already recorded to it." A month later, S1 returned to Hawaii and heard "Power" again, this time with more "polish" added by 'Ye, who co-produced the song. However, S1 picked the sample that drives the record: a snippet of British progressive rock band King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man." Initially, he didn't think West would be interested in the beat, because a drum break resembles a sound the rapper already visited on "Crack Music," a song from one of his previous albums.

The track exploded onto the Internet Friday (May 29) morning.

On "Power," the first single to leak from the sessions, it's soul man Dwele (last seen working with Yeezy on "Flashing Lights") throwing down while Kanye's "tripping on all the power," later on all the "powder," and later "drinkin' and drivin,'" and rhyming "power" with "Austin Powers," and obamanation with "Obama's nation." Granted those rhymes are more The Grade School Drop Out than post-Graduation, but as always the production's the pull -- a slightly sped-up group-vocal sample with handclaps to match -- and this might be after Hearbreak, but shit is still dark in Kanye's world. The song ends with Dwele's crooning "Jumpin' out the window, letting everything go..." and West's punctuation: "Yeah this would be a beautiful death." Someone keep an eye on Ye, yeah?

The song has also been taken notice by rap artists like Wale.

"new music from kanye??? #whynot welcome back mr west"

"tip new tape..ross new tap drake n hov song leaked. kanye got a new joint...how could i not sleep in the studio for a while"

Last weekend, reports claimed Ye was playing new records in New York City.

He's back! After a long hiatus from the nightlife scene, Kanye West made an appearance at LES hotspot CV on Saturday night. And fans of the "College Dropout" got more than just a sighting. We hear he gave the deejay four tracks from his upcoming album to play for the crowd. "Josh Hartnett and Kid Cudi were both there, and they immediately got up and started dancing," said one spy. "Kanye stayed with his own entourage in a corner booth, but looked pretty pleased."

Jacki-O Calls Out DJ Khaled, "You Get In [Def Jam's] Office & Flip The Script, That's Crazy!"

Southern rapper Jacki-O recently detailed her issues with DJ Khaled and said he has failed to represent their hometown Miami, Florida to the fullest.

According to Jacki-O, Khaled won't play or promote certain records.

"I have issues when it comes to DJs that take up space in my city that... you have a job playing records on the airwaves, and yet you playing the same artists over and over and over again? I have no beef with the artists that he's playing, and with all due respect to them and their craft, I would love for them to get airplay, but what about the [other] people that's in the city? If you reppin' this city, then rep the city! Don't hold beefs or grudges with people just because you're friends with my ex-label-mates...that's crazy! If you hear a record that's poppin' in the streets and it's poppin' in the clubs--play it on the station! I have a problem when the DJ feel like he more powerful than the artist and I think that's the stance that he takes when it come to this music and it's just ridiculous, so I do have a problem with him. It's not just me, but a lot of people do. Maybe they think it and don't say it but I choose to say it because I feel like it's an injustice and it's not right and it's not fair, so I'm callin' [Khaled] out on it... On air, he not even sayin' the hoods right, he saying the hoods wrong! His syllables is wrong when he shoutin' out the cities, and the hoods...it's crazy [you can tell that] he not from Miami... We accepted you in our city and you were chosen to rep our city and then you get in office and you flip the script, that's crazy!"

Last month, Jacki informed SOHH about her initial problems with Khaled.

"I don't hold grudges nor do I have 'beef' with anyone, although I am not a sucker," she wrote in a statement. "I understand it's all a part of the game. I don't entertain beef because it takes you off the focus of your craft. If people want to see us do a record, let's do it and if you still feel some type of way -- fine, do what you do. At the end of the day it's about giving the people what they want and making good music and money, anything else is irrelevant to me."

Recently, Jacki reportedly made controversial remarks about Khaled.

"DJs make up 50 percent of an artist's success," she said in an interview. "And they know that. I'm not saying all of them, but a lot of DJ's are starting to be more arrogant than artists, and bold with it. Your job is to play music and support what the people like. It's not about what you like; it's about what the people like. One DJ in particular is this Khaled dude. He's gotten so beside himself and decided he's not gonna touch another one of my records. And that's cool because when the streets deal with you, I'm good."

The rapper also recently denied rumors of being taken off Ludacris' Battle of the Sexes album.

"It would have been nice to work with fellow female rappers being that we don't collaborate that much together," she told SOHH, "but I was never invited to be a part of the Battle of the Sexes album. There was no kicking me off the album because I was never invited..."

Dr. Dre Squeezes Ice Cube Into "Detox", Reunites W/ Ex-N.W.A. Member

West Coast rap mogul Dr. Dre has reserved a guest slot for former N.W.A. group member Ice Cube on his long-awaited Detox album.

Cube recently said he hoped to also get Dre to produce on his upcoming I Am The West album as well.

"Dre is a master. What's cool about working with Dre is he stays the same. Everyone else change and trip, but I remember working with Dre back when we just in the garage. Just the two of us. And he works the same way. Don't come up with an empty palette, bring a lot of ideas to the plate...He's making a great record. I'm on it. I'm proud to be, I can't wait to get back to L.A. to get back in the studio with him. I'm trying to get a few tracks for my record I Am The West that's coming out in July."

Dre's new album is expected to be released sometime in the fall.

In March, Game discussed what Dre has been like in the studio.

"I'll let you know that right now it's definitely, definitely going to come, and Dre's been working harder than ever. Everybody's been in and out the studio. I've been in grinding with him, I'm going back in tomorrow to actually work some more, and get it to where we can all come to that happy medium where we're like. 'Damn, we finally got Detox and man it's crazy.' I can definitely guarantee you that however long he makes us wait--he can push it back for eight more years and it'll just be that much bigger, man--'cause Dre's not gonna put it out until it's 100 percent the idea he had when he started, and hopefully he picked the dates. I don't pick the dates but I just can tell you I've been working on it."

R.I.P. To Gary Coleman (Dies At 42)

Gary Coleman, who by age 11 had skyrocketed to become TV’s brightest star but as an adult could never quite land on solid footing, has died after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was 42.

Coleman died at 12:05 p.m. at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, where he had been in a coma.

“Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated,” says a hospital statement. “Family members express their appreciation and gratitude for the support and prayers that have been expressed for Gary and for them.”

The actor suffered an intracranial hemorrhage at his Utah home on Wednesday night. On Thursday, he was “conscious and lucid,” the statement says, “but by early afternoon that same day, Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened.”

Precocious Child
Despite congenital health problems which led to his never growing taller than 4′8,” Coleman experienced a towering achievement at the start of his career.

As Arnold Jackson, the plucky Harlem boy adopted into a wealthy white household on Diff’rent Strokes from 1978-86 – with his much-mimicked catchphrase of, “What’choo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?” – Coleman was pulling down as much as $100,000 per episode, though it was later reported that three-quarters of ended up being shelled out to his parents, advisers, lawyers and the IRS.

At the pinnacle of his fame in 1979 PEOPLE reported that Coleman had grown up in Zion, Ill., north of Chicago, with nephritis, a potentially fatal kidney defect.

He underwent two transplants before the age of 14. At one stage in his life, he underwent dialysis four times a day in order to survive.

“The reason I survived is that I had a kidney that wouldn’t give up,” he once said. “Now I got a Greek kidney donated from a kid who was hit by a car.”

“His talent,” said his mother, Sue, “may be God’s way of compensating him for what he’s been through, and the fact that he’ll never have the physical size of other boys.”

Coleman’s father, Willie, worked for a pharmaceutical company near Chicago, where Gary started modeling at age 5 after he wrote a brazen pitch letter to Montgomery Ward. (He could read at 3½.)

That led to commercials for McDonald’s and Hallmark cards before producer Norman Lear cast him in a pilot remake of The Little Rascals, which didn’t get picked up, en route to Diff’rent Strokes.

Troubled Lives
As has been chronicled, the three children on the series grew up into troubled lives. Dana Plato, 34, died of a drug overdose in 1999. (Plato’s son, Tyler Lambert, never came to terms with his mother’s death, and committed suicide on May 6, 2010. He was 25.)

The show’s Willis, actor Todd Bridges, now 45, was first arrested in 1994 after allegedly ramming someone’s car during an argument, He also has owned up to serious drug habit, which he struggled to beat.

By 1999, Coleman also faced troubles of his own. Long gone from Diff’rent Strokes, he had gone broke. His string of misadventures and humiliations included a bitter lawsuit that fractured his family, reports of erratic behavior (his father claimed Gary tried to run him over with a car during an argument in 1986) and a stint in 1998 as a security guard on a movie set.

All told, Coleman had amassed and lost an estimated $18 million fortune. Although he argued that his parents had a huge role in dissipating his wealth, he makes no apologies for having spent like a star. “I have lifestyle requirements,” he said at the time. “Photos, meetings, lunches, dinners, facial care, tooth care. It requires an exorbitant amount of money.”

Also in 1999, Coleman pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace after he punched a female autograph-seeker in California, for which he claimed self-defense. The previous year, he was again in the headlines, after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with his truck after arguing with him in a Salt Lake City bowling alley. In 2007, there was an incident involving a public argument with a female companion.
At times, there appeared to be turnarounds in his fortunes. In February 2008 – at the age of 40 – Coleman married for the first time. He’d met his bride, Shannon Price, on a movie set the previous August. She was 22.

Coleman admitted that Price was the first woman in his life. “I never got the opportunity to be romantic or feel romantic with anyone,” he said. “I wasn’t saving myself, she just happened to be the one.

Their relationship, they both admitted, was often rocky. “We may go a week and not speak to each other,” he said, while she claimed, “He lets his anger conquer him sometimes … He throws things around, and sometimes he throws it in my direction.” Still, they remained together, and Price survives him.

In recent months, Coleman suffered a series of medical problems. He had been admitted to hospitals three times this year: in January, for reasons that were not disclosed; in February, when he suffered a seizure on the set of TV’s The Insider; and again on May 26.

T.I. Not Beefing W/ DJs On "F*ck A Mixtape", "It Got People Thinking, It Got People Talking"

Fresh off the release of his F*ck A Mixtape underground project, T.I. has made sure to inform fans that he is not trying to start a beef with mixtape deejays.

According to Tip, the mixtape gave him an outlet to unleash a string of free music.

"F--- a Mixtape, that's in no way a direct shot to a DJ. 'Cause for other people, [a mixtape] works wonders. It do what it's supposed to do," he added. "For me, I do what I need to do. That's a common knowledge around the industry. I got enough music to go around. I can drop a song a day three or five years straight and still be cool. But F--- a Mixtape, it got the response it was supposed to get. It got people thinking, it got people talking, and it generated a demand."

The underground project features guest spots from Jamie Foxx, Swizz Beatz, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and more.

1. Jamie Foxx - Intro 2. Welcome Back To The Trap (Prod. By Smash Factory) 3. Spazz Out (Prod. By Swizz Beatz) 4. Whatcha Saying Tip (Prod. By Chuck Diesel) 5. Yeah Feat. Lil Wayne (Prod. Last month, DJ Drama confirmed Wayne's appearance on the new Gangsta Grillz release.

Without giving away too many details, Tip's longtime associate DJ Drama, confirmed with XXLMag.com that he will be hosting the tape, and fans, especially those from the King of the South's hometown, are sure to love the new songs. "He was doing his pushups and his situps, [and] now we about to have the streets in a frenzy," Dram said. "I'll just put it to you like this, Bankhead Zone One is gonna love this." Promising a lot of surprise guests, one rapper that the tightlipped DJ says will definitely appear on the tape is Lil Wayne.

Details on the mixtape began to circulate online in mid-April.

With his prison sentence finished as of March 26, T.I. is officially back and apparently looking to make a statement via the mixtape game. The ATL rapper could very well drop one of the better mixtapes of this year, as long as DJ Drama keeps the drops and shouting to a minimum. That might sound a little premature, but come on, we all heard the absolutely great "I'm Back." And the fact he's apparently returning to his grittier roots on his upcomingalbum should at least show that T.I.'s likely looking to kill it lyrically. Details remain up in the air on who will make a guest appearance F*ck A Mixtape, but I think we'll at least hear B.o.B spit a verse or two.
