Dr. Dre Sets Deadline For "Detox" Release Date

Renowned producer Dr. Dre has announced that his long-awaited Detox album should be out this fall.

Dre also said his "Under Pressure" Jay-Z single is likely to be released sometime in June.

Will we be able to get our hands on Detox this year? Dr. Dre provided the latest update on when his long-delayed opus will finally arrive in stores. "The song with Jay-Z should be out next month. We'll see how that goes," the Doc told Terrence and Rocsi on Wednesday's "106 & Park." The first single, "Under Pressure," features Jay-Z and production from Scott Storch. As for the album, Dre gave us a reason to want a short summer. "Hopefully at the beginning of fall," he revealed.

Producer Scott Storch recently shared his thoughts on what Detox will have to offer.

"I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they hear it. It's definitely a departure from a lot of the stuff Dre has done and the stuff Dre and I have done in the past. It's a hybrid...I think he's looking for like three more records...So that should take about 400 records to get those three. He's got pretty high standards."

Recent reports suggested that the "Under Pressure" single was delayed because of Eminem.

Alright, enough with the jokes. Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine did an interview on Skyrock radio in France a little while ago and here's the information being supplied by my sources who heard them live: 1. 'Under Pressure's release was delayed because Eminem decided to drop his new one 'Not Afraid' first, which was not the original plan. 2. They now have another single ready, other than 'Under Pressure' but have not decided which one will come out first. They did stress on releasing it this Summer though. 3. They reaffirmed the fact that Detox will be out this year. Who here still has hopes?

Last month, West Coast rapper Glasses Malone spoke with SOHH about Dre's long-awaited album.

"That's a big deal man," Glasses assured SOHH. "This dude is a big deal, number one producer of hip-hop ever and possibly one of the baddest motherf*ckers to get on the microphone. That's the biggest deal, that's the biggest deal in hip-hop ever, I don't think there is a record bigger. Like, I think the coolest thing is being around to witness it because the two biggest records in my lifetime that I witnessed and everyone was waiting on it was of course All Eyez On Me when Tupac was getitng out and Lil Wayne's Carter III and now the biggest of all-time is Dr. Dre's Detox...I got in there and checked out a lot of these Detox cuts and it was a cool thing to see. The Detox, that sh*t's real man. That's some real sh*t going on over there. Dre just takes his time man, this is what he do. He's two for two with classics, the first Chronic and 2001 and this will probably be his last record. I'm sure he wants to go three for three. Why not? It takes time."
