Lil Wayne Scores Soul Sample For "Tha Carter IV", "I Did A Really Dope Joint For The Ladies"
Producer Street Runner recently talked about the soulful vibe of incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne's upcoming Tha Carter IV album.
According to Street, Wayne's lyrical ability is also at an all-time high on his produced tracks.
"I did a really dope joint for the ladies with a soulful sample track that has a feature on the hook," he revealed in an interview. "I don't want to go into to many details about the record cause some internet monster might find it and try to leak it. I got another record that my dude wrote the hook on that almost feels like a Jay-Z "What More Can I Say" type track. I think I got 1 other record that's pending along with those two so I just gotta see what's up. I will say Weezy is spitting that sh*t over my tracks and they are 100% Hip Hop...I heard a few joints... It's definitely what the fans want. He's just rapping and going hard on it. I think I heard maybe one rocked out track but the majority was rap/Hip Hop tracks. It should be another classic."
Prior to beginning a one-year jail sentence on a gun conviction last March, Wayne talked about his next album.
"Yeah, Tha Carter IV, interesting," Wayne told radio host Tim Westwood with a smile. "Very interesting. It's interesting, I hope so, I hope it's incredible and all those things. But like I said, I think they know the velocity of Carter IV without me even having to speak on it. I think they know what that's gonna be. It should be [a defining moment]. It should be. Honestly, it should be."
Music video director David Rousseau recently said Wayne has already filmed footage for a track from Carter IV.
"There isn't a title for it," Rousseau said of the Carter IV song. "Honestly, I can't tell you too much about it. That was a complete secret. We had to kick everyone off the set for it. No photography, even their official photographer had to leave. That's under wraps. The album is still under production. It's a crazy song."
Young Money's Jae Millz recently said Carter IV would drop following Wayne's jail release next year.
"Yeah there's definitely going to be a tour soon," Millz said in an interview. "As soon as Wayne gets home, Tha Carter IV is dropping. It's already finished; he finished it before he went in so as soon as he gets out he's dropping that and we hitting the road."
No further details have been revealed as of now.
