Drake Gives Post "Thank Me Later" Release Plans, "I'm Going To Keep It Going"
Young Money's Drake has shared his post-Thank Me Later debut reaction and revealed some of the initial doubts he had when putting the project together.
The Canadian-based rapper claims his debut has been able to connect with fans.
"When I was trying to figure out what approach I was going to take, none of the stories made sense," said Drake in an interview with Nick Cannon. "I was like, 'If I'm really going to do this and really take it somewhere, I've really got to be myself.' So the more and more I started doing it, the more open I became and the more I was willing to share with my audience. Those are the best compliments: 'I love your music, I relate to it.' So I'm going to keep it going."
Last week, Drake's album crushed its competition atop the charts.
Young Money rapper Drake's Thank Me Later finally debuted on the charts this week landing at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the rapper's long-awaited debut moved 447,300 units after seven days in stores.
Headed into his second week, Drake's debut is expected to once again move large units on the charts.
With the weekend ahead, it's now just a question of how high it can go. Here are the seedings for next week's Top 15 * Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 700-750k Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown) 150-160k
The rapper has already begun thinking about his sophomore project.
"Well I have some time coming up, so I am already trying to figure out where in the world I am going to start this next album. I have had some discussions with Oliver, who is my creative partner, I know the story I am going to tell, obviously since my story continues naturally but its just more like what is the approach we are going to take."
