Ludacris Lights Up The Apollo Theater For Holidays

Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has been chosen to help kick-off a special Heineken New Legends Series concert at the legendary Apollo Theater later this month.

The event will take place on the last Monday of 2009.

Still flying high from his latest release, Theater of the Mind, the Atlanta-based superstar will headline the Theater's Heineken New Legends Series, performing hits from the album including "One More Drink" and classics such as "What's Your Fantasy". Come party at the Apollo for the final concert of the year as the official Mouth of the South brings his ATL swagger to Harlem for one night only Ludacris-style on Monday, December 28th at 8pm.

His concert would pay homage to the positive impact he has had as a musician.

The Heineken New Legends Series recognizes contemporary artists whose undeniable talent and impact represent the best of today's music and indicates lasting staying power. With his innovative, unconventional brand of Hip-Hop and quirky, witty lyrics, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges easily fits that bill. Since signing to Def Jam's Southern Rap subsidiary, Def Jam South in 2000, Ludacris has been at the helm of the Dirty South's invasion of Hip Hop and reigns as the highest-selling Southern solo Hip Hop artist of all time, selling over 24 million records worldwide.

Besides the event, Ludacris is also putting together his upcoming Battle of the Sexes album, however, reportedly without Shawnna.

Anybody remember the mild hoopla surrounding former Disturbing The Peace member Shawnna and her extremely shady business decision to leave the rap home that held her down through all the legalities and unsold CD's? Well, it seems that her conniving ways have proven to be all too much for Ludacris and his team, and as a result she's been unceremoniously dropped from the much hyped "Battle of the Sexes" project. For those of you don't recall, Shawnna chose to diss Luda and the DTP family for T-Pain's Nappy Boy imprint. While details are sketchy at the moment, not really, but I'm afraid to say too much, what is known is that instead of Luda teaming up with the Chicago-native for the co-ed inspired rap album - she's been replaced with a plethora of young and old female MC's. Tentatively, rappers like Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Eve and a few others are being tapped for the project, which is set to hist stores in early 2010.

Speaking to a packed concert venue of fans last month, Shawnna said her main focus was still on getting out her Battle of the Sexes joint album.

"I know y'all been hearing a lot of sh*t about what's been going on with me and sh*t, right, right," Shawnna told a crowd of fans. "I know y'all been hearing a lot of T-Pain rumors, 'Shawnna ain't f*cking with Luda no more' and all that sh*t. I just want y'all to know that I'm still f*cking with Luda, that's my n*gga 100 percent man. We have Battle of the Sexes coming soon and I'm signing a new deal with T-Pain right there...I'm f*cking with two real good n*ggas in the industry so I can't help but win. But I can't do sh*t with0ut y'all support, you understand?"
