Snoop Dogg Wins Overseas Battle, Fights His Way Back Into The United Kingdom
West Coast rap veteran Snoop Dogg was granted the right to re-enter the United Kingdom after being banned from the country for over three years.
According to reports, the ruling was made official in an England court.
A U.K. court has ruled in favor of rap star Snoop Dogg in his long-running immigration battle with the U.K. government, clearing the way for the U.S. entertainer to visit Britain after a three-year ban. Two senior immigration judges found that border authorities were wrong to refuse Snoop--whose real name is Calvin Broadus--entry clearance in 2007. The 20-page ruling, dated Friday, was received by both parties on Monday.
The ban initially came when the rapper got busted in 2006.
Snoop was arrested at London's Heathrow airport back in 2006 and after that he was denied entry back into the country for his prior incidents involving drugs and firearms citing him as a threat. The ban was lifted in 2008 but government officials appealed and reversed the decision!
Snoop also received past support from United Kingdom soccer star David Beckham in his plea for re-entry into the country.
Snoop made several failed attempts to get the government to reverse the ruling so that he could enter the UK to promote his music. He even asked for the help of David Beckham and Sir Paul McCartney to back his plea. On Friday (Feb 26), the 'Malice N Wonderland' star went to an Asylum and Immigration Tribunal and judges decided border authorities should not have denied Dogg access.
Inside the United States, the rapper recently signed Cypress Hill to Priority Records.
Snoop Dogg has made his first signing as Creative Chairman of Priority Records, adding West Coast rappers Cypress Hill to the revived label's roster. Snoop and Cypress Hill made the announcement on the "Lopez Tonight" show, where the Black Sunday band performed their hit "Insane in the Brain." Cypress Hill will release Rise Up, their first album since 2004's Til Death Do Us Part, on April 6th.
