Nicki Minaj Recruits Bobby Valentino For Young Money Debut, "We Been Working Together For Years"

Young Money's Nicki Minaj has reportedly recruited R&B singer Bobby Valentino for her upcoming debut album.

According to the former Disturbin' Tha Peace artist, Minaj has a few choice songs to choose from.

"It was me, Nicki and the producer, Fat Boy, kinda vibing in the studio," Bobby said about their 'Stilettos" collaboration. "That same night, Fat Boy played a couple more tracks and I heard one that I really liked and Nicki was in there, too, so we did like a true collaboration. She had the fly shoes on, so I was like, 'Those some crazy stilettos right there.' We just started talking and that's how the whole concept came together. That's why I think the song came out real crazy. 'Cause we were [really] going back and forth...Me and Nicki been cool for a while. She's blowing up now, but we been working together for years. I'm not sure which [songs] are going on [the album], but anytime she in the studio or I'm in the studio we always invite each other."
Minaj recently said she would feature tracks from Swizz Beatz and Kanye West.

"I'm probably definitely going to work with Kanye," she revealed in an interview. "On my debut, I worked with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he's gonna send me something. I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I accept beats from everybody."
She recently spoke on receiving critical acclaim from West's associate, Jay-Z.

"I was like, 'What?' " Minaj said about Jigga claiming she has "charm." "Obviously, Jay-Z ... Jay-Z is a person in hip-hop that you almost don't think he exist until you meet him. It's almost like he's bigger than a person. He's a mythical figure. That's a great way to describe it. I was like, 'Jay-Z knows me?' I didn't think he knew who I was, let alone recommend me for something. If he did know who I was, I didn't know if he liked my style or approved. It was weird. It was like getting that stamp of approval from the most popular jock in high school and being a freshman in high school and thinking no one knows you exist."
Last December, Minaj said she wanted to drop a "classic" debut album.

"The [album], that's what I'm actually getting ready to work on because I've been on the road for such a long time, I'm taking a complete hiatus for the next couple months, unfortunately, for all the promoters giving crazy offers," Minaj told DJ Whoo Kid. "And I've been turning every one because I have to put my foot down for the next few months and deliver a classic album and I already have stuff and I can't wait for the world to hear. All the stuff we talk about is fun and games and all that but the music is what's most important and I don't want all the people to be distracted by the other stuff and so I'm gonna take a break and when I come back you guys will have some very, very great music."
