Ludacris Makes Billboard History, "I'm The Only Rapper To Have 5 No. 1 Hits"
Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has just become the only emcee to have five chart-topping Billboard singles.
Writing via Twitter, Luda informed his followers of the accomplishment.
"On the way to Acapulco Mexico to tape MTV spring break to Promote Battle of The SEXes. It's Hard work but somebody's gotta do it... Ha!!!!!," he wrote earlier today (March 15). "Just received word that because of the fans we have made history yet again. Thanks 2 Taio Cruz, im theOnly rapper 2 have 5 #1 billboard hits."
His "Break Your Heart" collaboration marks his latest chart-topping record since 2007.
Luda's got a long list of hits and it goes on. With the success of Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart", Ludacris scored his fifth number one record on Billboard's Hot 100. Read 'em and weep: Taio Cruz Ft. Ludacris "Break Your Heart" (March 11, 2010) Fergie Ft. Ludacris "Glamorous" (March 24, 2007) Ludacris Ft. Pharrell "Money Maker" (October 28, 2006) Usher Ft. Ludacris & Lil Jon "Yeah!" (March 6, 2004) Ludacris Ft. Shawnna "Stand Up" (December 6, 2003)
He also spoke on the success of his "Get Low" hit single last month after it was certified platinum.
"This marks my ten years at Def Jam, in the music industry as a successful artist and as you can tell, I'm just as hungry as when 'What's Your Fantasy' came out," Luda explained. "A lot of people were comparing this to 'What's Your Fantasy,' so another ten years, we're gonna keep going and hitting them -- I'm one of those artists that likes to make everybody's job easier and I'll continue to do that no matter how many records I sell, no matter how much success I get, I will continue to stay the same person, a hard-working individual..."
His new album, Battle of the Sexes, is reportedly en route to land at No. 1 on the sales charts later this week.
Riding high on hit collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber and labelmate Taio Cruz (the #1 download, "Break Your Heart"), the DTP/Def Jam/IDJ hip-hop superstar-turned-actor will debut at #1 next Tuesday, with approximately 120k in sales for his latest, Battle of the Sexes. The album boasts current hit singles "How Low" and "My Chick Bad," the latter featuring Minaj.
