Kanye West Gets Personal W/ New Blog Posting, "I Never Feel Like I'm Not The Underdog"

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has wasted no time in using his new website to express his personal feelings and speak on the passing of past leaders including pop star Michael Jackson and activist Malcolm X.

In his posting, Yeezy also speaks on feeling like the hip-hop underdog.

"I'm on the plane listening to [his 2004 debut LP] The College Dropout," the post reads in part. "It brings back so many memories." He then talks about the deaths in his family since that time, and the early days of his career. "We were the underdogs," he continues. "I never feel like I'm not the underdog. I never felt completely comfortable. I'm tormented by the need to create. With the loss of McQueen I feel like we lost one of the faces of modern creativity's Mount Rushmore. ... Maybe McQueen felt his job was done because his last collection was the greatest of the decade. We are all so hurt. I know we're selfish because he brought us so much joy and inspiration. I know how it feels when the night demons come. We can't let them control our hands and feet. ... I was blessed with the opportunity to bring my and others dreams to life. It's like performing magic or something. It's surreal. We bring the unrealistic to reality. ... When I wake up in the morning and brush my teeth and look in the mirror it's like I see Michael [Jackson, presumably] and my mom and Malcolm [X, presumably] ... Who's that African in the background Mom? Oh, he created the original layouts for the pyramids, but he was written out of the history books and his MTV award was given to 'Aliens.' ... Everything is an opinion. The way you dress is an expression of your opinion. Your religious beliefs are your opinion. The music you turn up loud is your opinion. For most people it's easier to just agree. For me the hardest thing is to 'just' agree and that is what sparks creativity. The feeling that something can be better, the feeling that something's missing, the feeling that something's needed."
The rapper launched his new website late last month.

For someone so obsessed with design aesthetics, Kanye West's website looked like a failed HTML for Dummies experiment for years. But no longer! The new internet home of Kanye West is now live-- and it's a marked improvement over the old one. The first two posts are of his (kinda disappointing) new "Coldest Winter" video and a (kinda amazing) picture of his girlfriend Amber Rose recreating the classic body-bending photo of Grace Jones originally shot by Jean-Paul Goude. Promising!

A previously unreleased 2002 interview with Ye dropped online a week ago.

"Kanye West, super producer extraordinaire, allow myself to introduce myself," Ye said in the October 2002 interview. "If you hadn't heard just three seconds ago, I'm Kanye West, and you know, I'm also known for such hits as 'H to the Izzo,' you know, you see the gear -- I try to switch the game up. Every time somebody do something, I'ma try to figure out something new man. This one dude, got me really psyched because he came to me and was like, 'Yo, I think your job in life is to go out and find new things' and basically like going out and doing a song that nobody's doing and bringing that back or a lot of the concepts I'm finna talk about in rap, or like back when I was wearing throwbacks and I had to go down to Atlanta to find them before mad n*ggas was wearing throwbacks, so when you see me, you might always see me in some next sh*t, like, 'He dress kinda weird or something.' But just keep in mind what I had on and look up two years later..."
Entertainment Weekly recently named Ye's 2004 debut, College Dropout, as the top album of the decade.

The 2004 debut from West -- a revolutionarily relatable rapper who also happened to be a beatmaking genius -- was accepted into the hip-hop canon instantly, no diploma needed. For more Bests of the Decade, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands Dec. 4.
