Freeway Wants 1-On-1 W/ Alicia Keys, "We Could Make Beautiful Music Together"
Former Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway has sent an open invitation to Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys for a collaboration.
When asked what artists he would like to collaborate with, Free said Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" collaborator remained at the top of his list.
"Alicia Keys. I actually just did an unofficial remix with her for 'Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart' with DJ Benja Styles. We put it on the Internet and it's been getting a good response. She better get with it. We could make beautiful music together."
The rapper's new album, Stimulus Package, landed on the sales charts last week.
Former Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway and Jake One's Stimulus Package landed on the charts this week at No. 63. After seven days in stores, the project has sold 9,100 records.
Free recently talked about making a name for himself after a long-run on Roc-A-Fella Records.
"The new album shows a lot of growth and I feel as though it's like my chance to let everybody know that I can really hold it down on my own," Free said in an interview. "I'm not taking nothing away from nobody, I appreciate all the love I got in the past from people like Jay-Z and Beans and people like that. I gotta stand on my own two and let people know I can do it myself and this is my perfect opportunity -- I'm a reality rapper, so I'm inspired by the things around me, things I see, things like that...I feel the best music I make is the music I'm telling the truth on. Every rapper fabricates a little bit, nobody keeps it totally one hundred because when you're making a movie or something, you gotta exaggerate a little bit."
He was also set to release a collaboration album with Beanie Sigel called Roc Boys.
The Roc Boys are back. XXLMag.com has learned that Beanie Sigel and Freeway will be dropping a collaborative street album next month. The disc, titled The Roc Boys, features 13 tracks and will come out on independent label Siccness Records. It features appearances by DMX, Young Chris and the other members of State Property.
