Dr. Dre Moves Up "Detox" Release Date, "I'm Definitely Putting The Album Out This Year" [Video]

Aftermath Records label head Dr. Dre has announced plans to drop his long-awaited Detox album in 2010.

Dre said his new single with Jay-Z, "Under Pressure," will likely be released this month.

"Yes, hopefully we'll be releasing ['Under Pressure'] in the next two weeks or so," Dre said in an interview referring to his Jay-Z collaboration. "And I'm definitely gonna be putting the album out this year. Finally, you know, and I think everybody is gonna be happy with it. That's it right now. I'm just trying to finish this record, finally get it done, get it out and start promoting it."
Dre previously admitted the album would likely be delayed until closer to 2011.

A script for another huge push back of the mythical album has been written. Dr. Dre is featured in the Dimedrop section of the March Edition of SLAM Magazine. The interview is mainly about Basketball but as usual, the interviewer Konate Primus couldn't resist asking the producer about the status of the album. "Well, I'm working on it, but also I've been working on other people's projects; you'll probably hear something in a year or so."
Former Aftermath Records Stat Quo recently opened up about Detox being delayed.

"It's whenever Dre's ready," Stat revealed in an interview. "If you want my opinion on it, I think he wants to be confident in what he has to put out as an ensemble piece. Dre is hip-hop in a sense, so hip-hop needs him to put out a great album, 'cause if he doesn't, it affects all of us -- not just what he does, but the whole culture...Dre is just all around a better artist, a better person."
Dre previously said the studio time he's dedicated to other artists has further delayed the album.

"Once that sound is right, once that mix is right, it's a feeling that you get, here -- It's unexplainable," Dre said about putting together his records. "I have to go out to clubs now...You need to understand what people are listening to. I'm working hard on it. I'm stopping to work on other artists in-between, but the minute it's done and I feel it right here. I don't think I've done that [perfect] record yet. I'll know what it is when it comes; I know exactly what it is in my head, but I haven't done it yet. It's close...I got some sh*t coming, believe me."
