"Golden Girls" Betty White On Jay-Z's SNL Appearance, "He's The Hottest Thing Since Sliced Bread" [Video]
"Golden Girls" actress Betty White has shared her reaction to co-headlining an upcoming "Saturday Night Live" appearance with rap star Jay-Z.
White said she was excited to meet Jay.
When Betty White hosts Saturday Night Live May 8, the musical guest will be Jay-Z. And as the TV legend told reporters on a conference call today (April 28), she's getting into an Empire State of Mind, so to speak. White told reporters that she has been familiarizing herself with Jay-Z's music. "Oh, I'm thrilled to meet him, thrilled that he's going to be on the show because he's the hottest thing since sliced bread," said White. "I will certainly enjoy him; I hope that we get along well."
However, there are no details on whether Jay and White will be performing together.
There's no word yet whether Jay-Z and White will team up on any of the Mother's Day episode's sketches. ( Mother Lover, version 2.0, perhaps?) As White explains, she has yet to meet with the show's writers. "I haven't a clue what I'm going to be doing," she said. "So I'm getting a little bit panicky, but I look forward to maybe sitting down with the writers and hearing what they have in mind." (The Province)
Jay's appearance on the program will also be highlighted with a strong line-up of comedians.
White will host the May 8 "SNL" with musical guest Jay-Z - maybe they will rap together - and guests Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch. With that group around, White's debut should be better than Sidibe's.
The rapper's performance will mark his third appearance on the show.
Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has signed up to be the musical guest on an upcoming episode of "Saturday Night Live" in New York, NBC said Monday. The rapper is to perform on the May 8 edition of the sketch comedy show, which is to feature television icon Betty White as guest host. This will mark Jay-Z's third appearance as musical guest on "SNL." It will be White's first turn as guest host.
