Ludacris Uses Southern Roots For Making Hit Records, "I Got Those Just Living In Atlanta" [Video]
Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris has credited his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia as serving as a basis of inspiration for his recent chart-topping records.
Referencing tracks from the new Battle of the Sexes album, Luda detailed how he comes up with quality records.
"Man, how do my lyrics come to me? I draw inspiration from everywhere but I can definitely say living in Atlanta, Georgia, going to a variety of places, 'How Low Can You Go' and 'My Chick Bad,' I think I got those just living in Atlanta Georgia and just living every day regular life, strip clubs, beautiful women, 'How Low Can You Go,' and 'My Chick Bad.' There you have it."
Since its recent release, Luda's new album has remained on the sales charts.
Distrubin' Tha Peace leader Ludacris' Battle of the Sexes compilation dropped two slots to No. 13 with 24,600. With six weeks in the books, the rapper's latest release has sold 334,500 records.
Last month, Luda announced being in a record-setting competition with Diddy.
"Diddy, yeah yeah yeah, we have a bet going on," Luda told television host Chelsea Handler. "We both have five number one Billboard singles on the charts so we're trying to see who is gonna get that sixth one. [Who will win?] Oh come on now, you know, I'm down for it. [laughs]"
Reports of the initial challenge began to make headlines around mid-March.
Ludacris and Diddy have been having a little fun on Twitter, talking about who would be the first rapper to have six songs reach #1 on The Billboard Hot 100. First, Ludacris tweeted that he was the first rapper to do so. Diddy congratulated him, but called Ludacris to let him know that he already had 5 and so, the challenge to 6 was on. It was at this point that Ludacris revealed that the two would appear on the same track soon and if that went number 1, then it would be a battle for 7. Diddy agreed, saying that they'd get 6 together and then go for 7, but that he's still number 1 and you must "beat the champ to get the belt."
