Trey Songz Reveals Jay-Z's Touring Tips, "I've Learned To Have A Little More Crowd Control" [Video]

R&B singer Trey Songz has discussed hitting the road alongside Jay-Z for their Blueprint III tour and revealed what lessons he picked up from the rap veteran.

According to Trigger Trey, Young Hov has put him on to learning how to control stadium crowds.

"He's an excellent show man. He's gotten to the point where he has so many hits that he could just put the mic out on certain songs. He raps with me after shows and we talk about certain areas. I've learned to have a little more crowd control," Songz said about lessons he has learned from touring with Jay. "Playing arenas every night is different than what I'm used to. This is the biggest tour of my life, so I've learned how to demand the crowd."
Roc Nation's J. Cole recently credited Jay for helping him with his own stage presence.

"As the tour went on, I got way more comfortable, I learned a lot about doing shows and why Jay-Z is able to do shows," Cole told radio personality DJ Whoo Kid. "I learned pretty much from him that confidence is everything. If you feel like you deserve to be up there, which of course he does, he feels like that, it shows and all the minor stuff you used to worry about like what kind of hand movements am I supposed to do, all that goes out the window when you got the confidence like 'Yo, I deserve to be up there, people came to see me.' So it's really treating it like that. I used to worry about performing like, 'Ah man, I'm trying to please every side of the crowd,' like make sure they gettin' love, they gettin' love, Jay just plays wherever he wants. If he wants to play the center for the whole verse, he'll do that. And all that comes from confidence, when you feel you deserve to be up there."
Last month, Songz said Jay has been a huge inspiration on his career.

"Jay-Z is one of the biggest touring acts in the world, he sells out arenas in minutes and to be a part of that is amazing. Furthermore, Jay-Z is one of the most influential artists in my career as well as in my life. You know, seeing him go from artist to entrepreneur to businessman to multi-business owner, and to be that close to him is amazing. It's a pleasure. I go on right before Jay-Z, and [Young] Jeezy comes in within his set. So it's an honor that he would want me in that spot, so I am happy to be a part of it. And, I am here to step up to the plate and bring the best show I can to the table."
Last January, Songz hinted at a possible collaboration with Jay and Young Jeezy.

"The way Jay explained it to me, he wanted to give people the best show possible," Songz said in an interview about the tour. "They could have easily done it by themselves and it'd be great. But [Jay] wanted to give the best show. All of us bring a separate aspect to the table, making it a great show all the way. I'm there for the ladies, of course. Then I bring an R&B soul vibe and my hip-hop. Jeezy got the streets. And Hov is Hov. It's definitely all in the talks [as far as collaborations.] It's the Mob Squad. Me, Jay, Jeezy, we plan on working together while we on this tour because the energy we have together when we get around each other is amazing. And like I said, all aspects like that on a record is amazing. Maybe while we out on the road we get it done."
