Cam'ron Embraces Southern Hospitality, "We're Gonna Be Down Here For A Few Months Recording"
Dipset's Cam'ron has decided to embrace the South by recording his next set of music projects in Atlanta.
For Cam, he has yet to record a solo effort from the South region.
"We got a bunch of stuff going on," Cam explained recently. "I got my solo album to do. We got 'Killa Season 2' soundtrack. 'Cousin Bang, the Movie' soundtrack. To keep it 100, down South, they got a lot of hot beats with no samples. We're trying to just get a different vibe. I did four of my albums in New York, one in Chicago, one in L.A. But I never did an album recording in Atlanta. So me and Vado came down here to get a different vibe. We're gonna be down here for a few months recording and working."
He recently said a group project from his crew, The U.N., would be dropping later this year.
"Let me break it down: We're the U.N. That's the name of the team," Cam described. "The U.N. is 'Us Now.' We got an album coming out in August that's gonna be stupid. Vado's solo joint, look towards December [for that one]. But I want everybody to be focused on that U.N. album, 'cause when that comes out, it's gonna be bananas. Stupid. This August. ['Speakin Tongues'], this is the first single off of it." As of now, the U.N. is officially just Killa and Vado; they have three other artists who are down with them but not signed. Cam and company have 10 videos coming to the Web in the next several days, including "Ooh Baby" "Large in the Streets" and "Stop It Five."
Cam also reconnected with Jim Jones earlier this month, showcasing a Dipset reunion.
"Cam and Jim have definitely spoke, me and Jim have talked about putting everything together and putting the past behind us," Juelz Santana told radio personality Angie Martinez. "At the end of the day, I'm willing to be a big person and put whatever I got to put to the side and if the fans want an album, we can do that...I was like a fan finding out, because it was like, 'Oh word, that's what's going on?' I hadn't talked to Jim when it first happened -- I kinda heard it through the Internet and then it was the same type of way, then I spoke with Jim...I'm happy that they were able to do that."
Last year, Cam explained why he took a hiatus from the rap scene.
"I'm about to bring [hip-hop] back to life," Cam said in an interview on Dipset Radio. "I'm about to bring a little air to it, a little CPR. No homo...What a lot of people don't know is my mom had three strokes in one day, she was all paralyzed on the left side of her body. So what I had did was went down to Florida, Fort Lauderdale, for about a year and a half, get her in rehabilitation, get her walking again, making sure her health was right...there was so much 'Where's Cam'ron' that I started using it towards my advantage...You can't buy that kinda promotion...It was all about falling back and picking the right time..."

Cam'ron Still Putting Together U.N. Debut, "We Got An Album Coming Out In August"
Dipset's Cam'ron has said that he would put off any upcoming Diplomat project in order to release his U.N. debut this summer.
According to Cam, the U.N. consists of himself and protege rapper, Vado.

Earlier this year, Cam announced the U.N. Gunz N' Butta compilation album.
Cam's biggest goal is to keep Harlem in the spotlight with dignity and honor. He is featured on every song on the album and heads in a different direction with this new movement. The first single off of Gunz N' Butta, "Clap," finds Cam'ron back to form and will hit urban radio shortly.
Releasing the project under E-1 Music, Cam and record label president Alan Grunblatt previously confirmed the partnership.
"Alan Grunblatt is a true visionary in hip hop. I am thrilled to work with him again. We gonna make history. It's all about the new movement," Cam said in a statement. E1 Music President Alan Grunblatt says, "Cam helped take E1 (KOCH) to the next level with our Diplomats deal. Cam is a true visionary and I'm thrilled to be working with him again."
The U.N.'s debut was initially slated for release in late August 2009.
Cam'ron is also working on a compilation album with his new crew, U.N. (which includes Lady Byrd and Vado), that is set for a late-August release. There is also talk of an as-yet-untitled album being released in December and a potential film soundtrack that will be released that month as well. "I don't want to clog out everything, so I might wait till I drop my own album and see," Cam'ron says.

Dame Dash Brings Roc-A-Fella Back, "[Jay-Z] Doesn't Work For Def Jam Anymore" + On Jim Jones & Cam'ron Reunion, "I Gotta Give Them Props For Being Men
Former Roc-A-Fella co-owner Damon "Dame" Dash has decided to resurrect the company he helped build with Jay-Z and Kareem "Biggs" Burke.
According to Dame, the first project under the label with be rap newcomer Curren$y's debut.
"[Curren$y] inspired me to dust off the chains. We brought 'em out for kicks, just 'cause we could. Then we was like, 'F--- it, let's put it out through Roc-A-Fella.' It was really more something he wanted to do. Basically, 'cause we havin' such a good time, and the opportunity's there, we was like, 'Why not?' ... Def Jam or Universal bought the brand. I think the 'beef' [with us and Jay-Z] was that Jay made it clear he didn't want me or Biggs to be a part of it. That's really where it was at. Now that he doesn't work for Def Jam anymore, he doesn't have the right to use the name. So there's no reason for us not to use it. It's there, and it's a brand that's not being used. So I was like, 'I'll take it.' It always meant something to me."
Curren$y also shared his reaction of Dame's decision to support his movement.
"What that means, what that shows me, is that dude thinks as highly of me as I do him," Curren$y said about releasing an LP on the label Dash co-founded with Jay-Z and Kareem "Biggs" Burke in the mid-1990s. "I know what's behind that. We all know and the fans know what that represented at the height of it. The aesthetic of it."
Dash recently talked about his past financial troubles and blamed the media for building too much hype around him.
"I started to go through a lot of bad press all of a sudden," he explains of the period following the sale of his shares in Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear Clothing. "Like, the recession hit everybody, but me being a businessman and motherf*ckers getting caught up in the storm, all my issues were completely public. And completely exaggerated. So the recession sh*t happens, I don't give a f*ck."
He also accused a former tax accountant of stealing money from him.
"The first thing you gotta kick when you're an entrepreneur is your ego," Dame explained in an interview. "You can't look like you're doing good all the time. You gotta struggle and I don't mind grinding, I actually like it. I'm almost addicted to it. Even when the thing with all my taxes happened, I thought, you know I made a bunch of money and I thought my accountant paid my taxes instead he stole some money out my account and didn't say nothing. I look at that as a learning experience, it just won't happen again, you know what I mean? I don't regret nothing, I got too many healthy kids. You know, I got four of 'em so as long as they're around and they're cool, I'm good."

Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon "Dame" Dash has offered his thoughts on seeing former Roc associates Jim Jones and Cam'ron reunite after years of distance.
From Dame's perspective, Jimmy and Killa's reconnection shows their growth as men.
"I'm more happy than anything that they're friends -- that they were able to salvage their friendship, if that's the case," Dame said in an interview. "I think they're better than me for that: being smart enough and humble enough to apologize to each other and move forward. I really do hope that where I failed to be the right example, that they can be that. You always want the people ahead of you to do better than you anyway. For that, I gotta give them props for being men above anything." (MTV)
Cash Money Records' Baby has also given his reaction of the rappers' reunion.
"You know, Dipset came up the same time as us. Cam, Jimmy, that's my family," Baby says about Jim Jones and Cam'ron's recent reunion. "For them to be together, that's what it do, that's what's up. We making music and unity [and] that's what I'm about." (VIBE)
Last month, Jones confirmed his reconciliation with Cam.
"I heard about the announcement," Jones said referring to his reunion. "I heard there's two gentlemen that put aside their differences and things like that. That's kinda good for the rap culture. I'm glad two young gentlemen as theyself get money and could put their differences aside and say they're gonna do another album for the people. Big up to them...I'm waiting to hear the next press release or the next cover or maybe song, I'm waiting like everybody. [laughs] These guys are good, Dipset." (VIBE TV)
Over the weekend, Jones talked with SOHH about Dipset during his Converse Band of Ballers basketball tournament in Atlanta.
"Nah, I love [Diplomatic Immunity questions]. Ask me some more. We comin' to kill. You heard me? I don't know what been going on in the rap game but I know what's about to go on in the rap game. Shouts to Killa, shouts to Juelz, shouts to Freekey Zeekey. Dipset 'fo life. Holla at us. Yes [a deal] is [on the table]. Where the money at? Nah, its never about money 'cause we got money but we want more money so who got the money? Who got the mottz?"

Cam'ron Sets The Record Straight On Dipset Reunion, "I'm Not Moving On Nothing Diplomat Until The Business Gets Done" [Video]
Dipset leader Cam'ron has opened up about re-connecting with Jim Jones and stressed the importance of handling his own business ventures before launching a Diplomat album.
Cam did, however, say he keeps in constant contact with Jones.
"Realistically, we working out business," Cam'ron told website Nowwut.com today. "Me and Jim are speaking. I don't want people to think me and Jim aren't speaking," Cam'ron said. "We speak a few times a week. Right now, we talking out the business. The deal is on the table. But until the business gets situated, it's [Cam's group], the U.N.; me and [protégé] Vado. We not about to stop. All the bosses meet at the roundtable. To be honest, we missed out on a lot of money on the Diplomat thing the first time. I'm not moving on nothing Diplomat until the business gets done. But it's close to getting done. Right now I don't want to mislead nobody and say it's not U.N. right now."
Known for producing tracks from Dipset's debut album, producer Rsonist recently said he was ready to once again step behind the boards for Cam and Jim.
"I actually just spoke to Cam for the first time in about two years just a couple of days ago," he revealed in an interview. "We're going to get back into the studio and make music again. At first, it was a little weird because we haven't spoke on a personal level in so long. But I sent him some music a few months ago, and he reached back out to me. But it's still all love. I'm actually supposed to meet with him later on today...I still think they're talented dudes and people want to hear their music. So why not? People are still interested and there's money to be made there. I know people had problems, but we're moving forward. Anytime the Dips want to reach out, I'm with it."

Jim Jones On Cam'ron Reunion, "[We're] Gonna Do Another Album For The People" [Video]
Dipset's Jim Jones has announced plans to reunite with Cam'ron and put together a new album for the fans.
Speaking in third-person, Jones confirmed his recent reunion with Cam.
"I heard about the announcement," Jones said referring to his reunion. "I heard there's two gentlemen that put aside their differences and things like that. That's kinda good for the rap culture. I'm glad two young gentlemen as theyself get money and could put their differences aside and say they're gonna do another album for the people. Big up to them...I'm waiting to hear the next press release or the next cover or maybe song, I'm waiting like everybody. [laughs] These guys are good, Dipset."
Jones initially issued an apology to Cam.
"It's 2010, and this is something I gotta get off my chest...You've known us from back when we didn't have what we have now, so you remember, that above all, me and Cam, we still brothers. And we're building on getting back on track but first, I apologize for being a rude brother, for saying things publicly without first trying to handle them privately. I apologize for not leading by example because what I didn't realize at the time, I was venting but it wasn't all about me. There were other people whose dreams were also part of this movement...We had this luxurious life, but the rest of the family, they had slow down because of the ball I started rolling. I'd be pissed at me too...But God works in mysterious ways...a couple people took vacations, and there's a lane that's wide open. What we built solo since Dipset grew apart, we can combine and make even stronger together. I needed to clear my conscious before we work on building a bigger and better movement. Plus, consider it fair warning to everyone else."

"We would see a lot more discrepancies going on between the two of us. For the most part you don't see anything going on between the two of us. He's doing what he does; I'm doing what I do. Hopefully we can get this Diplomat thing back together, put another album out and sh*t like that and keep it moving. I don't know man, when me and him do get up, trust me, y'all gonna know about it. For the most part everything is pointing in the right direction; I'm open for it. I like big checks, ya heard me?"

Jim Jones On Sharing Magazine Cover W/ Cam'ron, "I Think My Side Was The Good Side, Killa" [Video]
Dipset's Jim Jones recently spoke on sharing the Straight Stuntin' Magazine cover with estranged associate Cam'ron.
In addition, Jones give the magazine's owner, DJ Kay Slay, props for its content.
"You know, that's a good look," Jones said about his split magazine cover. "I think I'm a little bit more splashier because I get fly. [laughs] He know that though, he know that. He knows that's what I do. I think my side was the good side, Killa, what's up? [laughs] Shout-outs to Killa, shout-out to Kay Slay. I love how the magazine shows our beautiful black women. Our women are a little bit thicker than what they show you in America, on the media, but we love it that way."
Slay recently spoke on why print publications should not make the move to online.
"I figured the modeling thing would be simpler if I gave them a platform to show their talents and It would be good to come through a magazine. It's female DJ's, rappers, models, adult entertainers. No requirements, just come correct. Everything is run right like any other magazine you see. I didn't do an online magazine because that's how you lose. This downloading sh*t f*cked up the whole music industry. The last thing you want to do is put it online cause people won't purchase it. You can't bootleg a magazine. The time that it takes to do it and the money, a n*gga aint gonna take the chance to do it. The only way you could lose if you did an online version. I don't care if you have to pay for it, a motherf*cker will figure out how to get that sh*t for free. It's a gift and curse."

Last month, Jones addressed Cam's Diplomat expansion into Dipset West.

Fat Joe Welcomes Cam'ron, Clipse, Just Blaze, DJ Premier & More To "The Dark Side"
Terror Squad leader Fat Joe has recruited Cam'ron, The Clipse, Just Blaze, DJ Premier and more for his upcoming Dark Side album which is set to drop this summer.
According to Joe, Miami duo Cool & Dre will also play an active role in the production of the rapper's latest solo effort.
"I got this sh*t called 'Kilo,' produced by Infamous, with me, the Clipse and Cam'ron. Bananas! I told you I was taking you to the dark side. N*ggas is going hard. N*ggas is going super hard. N*ggas will get this album and be like, 'D*mn. Joe knows how to make the hard-core album of a lifetime.' ... I got my Just Blaze track today, so I'm excited. I got Primo, Just Blaze, Scram Jones. Me and Cool & Dre did this monster with Trey Songz. I'm real happy with the album, man. I'm like one or two gems away from wrapping the deal. I'm just trying to dumb out. [Producer] Buckwild gave me something ugly."
Earlier this year, Joe dropped his album's first single, "Slow Down (Ha Ha)" featuring Young Jeezy.
"Congratulations Welcome to THE DARK SIDE!! The first single off my new album ft. Young Jeezy HAHA(Slow Down Son) YA ALL WELCOME!!!!," he wrote Thursday (February 4). "Here is the Clean Here is the dirty link again it I TOLD YA I WAS COMING WITH THAT MONSTER JOINT WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE!!!!! CRACK @Scoopdeville My brother that beat is a monster you see what me and jeezy did to that thing there !!!!!"
The rapper recently announced that he will release the new solo project through E1 Music.
"It's been a long time coming," he stated. "I have a long history with Alan Grunblatt and everyone at E1. Although it's a small label, they have the best marketing and promotion staff in the hip-hop game and I'm looking forward to working with them on my new album, 'The Dark Side.'"
Fat Joe collaborator Rico Love previously spoke with SOHH about the rap veteran's dominance in music.
"It was an amazing experience working with Joe on the 'Aloha' record, as well as being involved creatively on the entire album," he explained. "Fat Joe is hip-hop royalty and he withstood the test of time. Seems like just yesterday I was watching his videos ontelevision and now I'm in a video with him. That's a great feeling. I'm honored."
Fat Joe's The Dark Side is scheduled to drop Tuesday, June 29th.
