Nicki Minaj Discusses Her Green & Pink Wig Obsession, "It Makes Me Feel Positive" + Announces Young Money Debut Release Date

Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj speaks on her colorful wig obsession and offers fans hair tips in her new Hype Hair Magazine cover feature.

Within the feature, Minaj explains why she has begun choosing green and pink hair pieces as of late.

If you choose to wig it: "Go for a human hair wig in jet black with a blunt cut China bag...I like the green bob. Everyone seems to like that. People are saying it's the winner right now...I decided to choose a new look. Color makes me happy. It really excites me. I am a very visual person and when I look in the mirror, and I see green or I see pink, it does something to my attitude. It makes me feel positive.'

As of late, Lil Kim has taunted Minaj's wig association at rap concerts.

During her performance Kim threw off her blonde wig saying she's above this, while throwing her blonde wig into the crowd. I'm going to another level," she told the fans. "I love the wigs and everything but I'm so above this. I'm so above this...I'll be back! Lil Kim is a legend, and LEGENDS don't diss babies, she's the Queen B for crying out loud. Honestly the last thing we need is beef between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj. Does Lil Kim need to dust of her Biggie records? "F*ck that beef sh*t! That sh*t is played out"

Minaj's image has also been made fun of by Southern rapper Khia.

"Everybody knows it's me, it's Khia," she said in an interview last March. "I don't know if she's Nick, I don't know if she's a Barbie. I tell everybody, we don't have Barbies in the hood. Boos, there wasn't no Barbies sitting on the stoop, love who you are. Hip-Hop is supposed to be real, hip-hop is supposed to be where the real people hang and I think it's a lot of infiltrators coming in..."

Despite her various wigs and rap image, Minaj recently said she would help fans become more familiar with who she really is on her upcoming debut album set to drop this year.

"The album is coming along just spectacular," Minaj revealed in an interview. "I been doing a lot of work with Swizz [Beatz], and the stuff that we been coming upon is magical. When people hear the album, they're going to get to know Onika [her birth name is Onika Maraj]. And no one knows Onika. I really didn't think I would be this excited about the songs that I'm coming up with. I'm really, really proud...I'm gonna let the album [introduce my alter ego]. As of now, you'll know Nicki and you'll know Roman, my crazy alter ego Roman Zolanski. But you'll meet Onika before the year ends."

Young Money's Nicki Minaj has finally announced a release date for her long-awaited debut album.

Minaj revealed that the solo project would hit stores in November but did not give out an album title.

Nicki Minaj is everywhere, except on her own album. But that's about to change because the breakout star's debut finally has an official release date. Young Money's First Lady will release her as-yet-untitled album during the week of Thanksgiving, known to be the busiest shopping week of the year in the U.S. "Yes. It's time. November 23rd," she told her followers on Twitter.

The rapper recently promised to drop the album this fall and allow fans to get more familiar with her.

She also believes the long-awaited debut will make a lane for all female emcees.

"With this album, you got people saying 'Oh that might be too pop for you,' or 'That might be too dance for you,'" she says later. "And I just started meditating on what makes them say that. I think people say those things just because of the past. I have to invent something, to show that a girl can rap over any kind of beat and still be hip-hop."

Last month, two album promo photos were released online.

Nicki Minaj wields her weapons of mass destruction--and a sword--in one of two sexy promo photos for her forthcoming debut album. Hip-Hop's new poster girl commands our attention as a samurai in a pink kimono with yellow hair in one colorful image and packs a punch in a second shot, sporting a sheer black catsuit and orange wig. Come on Barbie, let's go party!
