Game On Dr. Dre & Pharrell's "R.E.D." Production, "My Two Favorite Producers Are Helping Me W/ The Direction"
West Coast rapper Game has confirmed recent reports that Pharrell Williams and Dr. Dre executive produced his upcoming R.E.D. Album.
The rapper also talked about what it meant to have two renowned hitmakers behind his fourth solo project.
Tuesday morning it was announced that Pharrell will be co-executive producing the album, along with Game. Previously, the Star Trak founder did this with albums from Snoop Dogg and Slim Thug. Additionally, Game released a statement, "[Dr.] Dre is a Hip Hop legend and one of the reasons I'm making music. To be working so closely with him again...man, I don't even have words to describe it...my two favorite producers are helping me with the direction of this album, I couldn't be in a better position." New reports say the album is coming out in mid-June.
It's almost Game time. After a few setbacks, Game's album finally has a new release date. The Compton MC's fourth LP The R.E.D. Album is scheduled to drop June 15, Rap-Up.com has learned. A video for the Cool & Dre-produced "Shake" was shot earlier this year at several locations, including Dr. Dre's mansion and Travis Barker's studio. (Rap-Up)
In addition to Dre and Pharrell, Game recently discussed who else will be assisting him on the L.A.X. follow-up.
"I feel great about this album," he said in an interview. "It's back full-force Aftermath and I'm conjoined with Star Trak. I got this colorful movement over here where it's beautiful music on this side [with Star Trak] -- then when I need to go dark or super grown and sexy, I got Dre over here. The combination is crazy -- mixed in with a Cool & Dre track and RZA track and all the sh-- I been doing. The only person I'm upset I didn't work with on this album is DJ Premier. I feel his sh-- would have been perfect for this all-star producer cast that I have. One Premier track would have did me just fine. I would have murdered that sh--. But we ain't get it in, 'cause he was doing a whole bunch of sh-- for Christina Aguilera. I'm just Game. So I gotta just wait for the next album." (MTV)
Last February, Game requested that his Twitter followers help him decide whether to lead-off the album with a Dre or Pharrell-produced track.
"R.E.D. march 23rd," Game wrote hinting at a possible new album release date. "#nigeriangrammar I can't get jiggy wit dis sh!t neega in the studio......... goin thru records, should the 1st single be a Pharrell or a Dr. Dre track ??? most of y'all sayin.... save the Dre tracks for the album. hmmmmm ? #tobehonest ALL THIS SH!T IS craCK !!! Dr. Dre & P. producing this album is "THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS". Aight y'all I gotta figure this sh!t out. hit y'all in the AM." (Game's Twitter)
The R.E.D. Album is slated to drop Tuesday, June 15th.
