Bun B & Slim Thug Discuss Paul Wall/Chamillionaire Reunion, "They Put The Bullsh*t Aside"
Texas rappers Bun B and Slim Thug have shared their reactions to seeing Paul Wall and Chamillionaire reunite to make new music together.
Bun felt the reunion was a key move for hip-hop as a genre.
"I think it's a great thing for hip-hop in general," Bun explained in an interview. "When you have good people that make good music together come together and make great music, it's a great thing. We don't worry about circumstances; we just appreciate the opportunity to see great music being made again. It's definitely a resurgence of Houston music right now. The second wave is coming. This is just something to kick everybody in the nuts, like you better get it right because we trying to get it down here in the H."
Slim Thugga also said it was only appropriate that the two emcees come back together.
"It's good to see them back together. That's how I knew them. They came to SwishaHouse together. They finally got back together and put the bullsh*t aside and it's a good look. I feel like we back at SwishaHouse or something."
Southern rapper Killer Mike recently said he helped get the two artists reunited.
"I really consider Paul and I really consider Chamillionanire friends," Mike told Rap Radar's Elliot Wilson. "Like, I landed in Texas and got to know them from the time they were still together and doing work and doing some shows but I didn't get to see them...I grew in friendship with both of them -- the crazy part was I never got to see them perform together, I never got to see it together. I would hound Chamillionaire, I would hound them. I was like, 'Y'all got to do it, y'all boys got to do it.' Both of them are beautiful brothers man -- as a fan, to all the fans, when we complain, they listen!"
The duo's beef lasted for roughly seven years.
Chamillionaire sounded like a fast-food peddler last month at the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin. "We've had a lot of beef," he told an audience at La Zona Rosa during his first performance with estranged partner Paul Wall in seven years. Their feud was no secret, but it wasn't proliferated or marketed by either rapper over the years either. "It was not a publicity stunt," Wall says. "There was genuinely a lot of bad blood, but we mostly kept it to ourselves. If we ended up putting out diss CDs, it might have never ended. But there was always a deep-down friendship there."
