Usher Hints at Rihanna, Jay-Z Collaborations
Usher is back in the spotlight and on the top of the charts, and he plans on staying there. The R&B vet has set his sights on a couple high-profile collaborations for this year.
While the bachelor is not looking to take Rihanna away from her boyfriend Matt Kemp, he does want to explore their chemistry on wax. “Me and Rihanna have been speaking about doing something together,” Usher revealed in a backstage interview at the 95.8 Capital FM Summertime Ball. “There is definitely something to wait for, I’ll say that much.”
In addition to the Barbados beauty, Usher hinted at a collaboration with Pitbull and Jay-Z. “There’s a few collabos that I plan on introducing a little bit later this year. Me and Pitbull talked about doing something,” he shared. “Jay-Z and I talked about doing something. It wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve done something together. There’s great respect. This will be our second time working together.”
Actually, it would be the third time the two have worked together. Jay asked Ursh to sing on “Anything” from his Kingdom Come album and Usher returned the favor by inviting Hov to rap on “Best Thing” from 2008’s Here I Stand.

Nelly Recruits Usher, Jamie Foxx & More For "5.O" Album
Grammy-winning rapper Nelly has reportedly recruited Usher, Jamie Foxx, Dr. Luke and more for his upcoming new album, 5.O.
According to reports, Nelly may also be featuring Janet Jackson and Diddy on his solo effort.
This time around, he's tapped high-profile producer Jim Jonsin to work alongside him in the studio. As the Press Association reports, Usher, Jamie Foxx and producer Dr. Luke have also signed on to collaborate on the new album, which will be titled '5.O' -- presumably because of the 2011 Mustang 5.0-liter V8 car that Nelly says will be featured on the album's cover. Other names rumored to appear on '5.O' include Janet Jackson, Diddy, Akon and, of course, the St. Lunatics.
Earlier this year, Nelly talked about reuniting with Kelly Rowland for the project.
"'DL2!' This is one thing, we know we can't in no way shape of form can we outdo part one," Nelly said about "Dilemma Part II." "There's no way. You're in a lose situation if you go in trying to do that. What the new song is doing is a continuation of the story. It's produced by my man Jim Jonsin and my man Rico Love. We were in the studio in Miami and I called K and she was in the bed and just shot down to the studio. I got a collaboration with Taraji Henson that was produced by Jermaine Dupri. It's crazy."
Producer Jim Jonsin recently spoke on working with Nelly.
"We've done a few songs so far," Jonsin said in an interview. "Nelly's great, he's really super talented. I just know he looks pretty anxious about dropping [it] within the next couple of months for sure. I did 'Dilemma (Part 2)' with [songwriter] Rico Love and Nelly had this melody idea. I've worked with Kelly Rowland and I've heard her sound, and that kind of triggered me to call and put her in the studio. It came out really amazing. It's similar in that it's musical and it has a great melody. But the sound is a little different, a little newer."
Last year, Nelly said he planned to work with rappers like Young Jeezy and Plies.
"The thing is, I work best with two strikes, two outs," Nelly revealed in an interview. "I really think I do. As an artist, you want to wake up every day and feel like you're doing something people don't think you can do. Now I feel like I've been put in that position again, where it's more doubt than expectancy. The doubt is what fuels me, so to speak. I've been real fortunate where I have great people around me. Everybody wants to freakin' work with me -- not that everybody didn't [before], but it's different because I didn't work with a lot of people. Coming into this situation, it's beautiful...In the booth right now, it's kind of different. I got Sean Paul, Akon...as far as the rappers go, Plies. Me and [Young] Jeezy talking about some things now. I'm not finished, but I'm a good portion on the way."
A confirmed release date has not yet been revealed.

Jermaine Dupri Calls Usher Disrespectful, "I Have To Ask You Am I The Executive Producer?"
Producer Jermaine "JD" Dupri recently talked about not having an executive producer role on Usher's new Raymond v. Raymond album.
JD claims Usher did not attempt to reach out to him for his latest solo album.
Well, I didn't really want to be executive producer of Usher's projects after Confession. Me as a producer, it's kind of hard for me to go back into people's projects when I gave you your biggest album ever...you sold more records than any other artist in this decade based on that album and now I have to ask you am I the executive producer of your next album? That seems disrespectful to me. Obviously, I'm looking at something different than everyone is looking at it whether it's the label, the artist, management... whoever it is. I've had this same conversation with L.A. Reid, because I'm doing Mariah Carey's album right now. And on her last album, I didn't have one song on there. But I did Emancipation of Mimi and she sold more records than she sold in the last five years. What part of the game makes y'all not call me? But I'm not going to keep sticking my neck out. But I don't feel like I'm supposed to ask to produce anymore. People are supposed to come to me and tell me that I'm the executive producer. That's why I get more kicks working with younger artists."
Usher's latest album reached gold status last week.
R&B superstar Usher's Raymond V. Raymond slid one slot to No. 5 this week with 52,000 and lost out to Glee Cast's Power of Madonna which topped the charts with 98,000. According to Nielsen Soundscan, Usher's latest album has sold 538,000 copies after a month in stores.
Aside from Usher, JD has been working with Janet Jackson as of late.
Producer-songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox revealed that he and J.D. are reteaming with the pop star for her next album, the first since 2008's Discipline. "I'm producing Janet's album with Jermaine and it's going to be hot," B. Cox told Rap-Up.com at Tricky Stewart's pre-Grammy party last Friday. "That's all I can say so far." His producing partner Kendrick "WyldCard" Dean also chimed in, adding, "Some great collabos on there," but didn't disclose further details.
He previously broke up with Jackson last summer.
On July 7, Michael Jackson's family gathered to celebrate him at his much-watched memorial service. Noticeably absent? Janet Jackson's longtime music-exec boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. (A pal says Dupri skipped the memorial because he "doesn't attend funerals.") And for good reason. "His friends are telling people it's over," a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands now. Echoes another: "They have been moving in different directions for a while."

Usher To Outsell "Wu-Massacre" W/ 350K In Projected First-Week Sales
Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon's Wu-Massacre is reportedly en route to sell up to 50,000 copies in its first-week sales.
Based on one-day estimates, the album will bow down to stiff competition from new Usher and Erykah Badu albums.
With three smash singles at Urban radio, "There Goes My Baby," "Lil' Freak" and "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)," the LaFace/JLG R&B star's Raymond v Raymond album will debut at #1 on next week's HITS sales chart, sporting a total now pegged at 330-350k, which may even climb higher on anticipation of a busy Easter weekend at retail. Universal Motown's Erykah Badu will be the next-highest newcomer, with 110-120k in sales for her new album, New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh). Former Wu members Meth + Ghost + Rae return with Wu-Massacre for Def Jam/IDJ, which appears to be in the 40-50k range. The album features Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon teaming up for the first time since Wu-Tang Clan.
Method Man recently talked about the album's promotion and marketing.
"So far, with the promotion of this album, I ain't have nothing to do with it," Meth explained in an interview. "We've all been busy working -- well, Rae's been doing Cuban Linx [Part II], Ghost been promoting Wizard of Poetry, I had done like three f*cking movies last year so yeah, I mean, I'm glad someone in the building is taking it upon themselves to get the ball rolling so it's a good deal right there because in the era we're in right now, you gotta do all that sh*t yourself..."
Last month, Raekwon spoke on the threesome's album and its importance to the Wu legacy.
"I'd say probably four or five months ago," Rae said about the album's recording process. "We just wanted to make another album that really represents our brand, which is the W. When you think of Wu-Tang, we've been in the business for damn near almost, what, 17 years? We just want to make sure that people still know that we didn't go nowhere -- musically, passionately about hip-hop. When you get records like this, it helps keep the W flag up high. You know what I mean? Like the American flag. We gotta take care of that flag. It was something that was going to happen sooner or later. Us three, we always work good together throughout the years. On a lot of records, me, Ghost, and Meth was always next to each other. If you look at [the Wu-Tang Clan] as being the Lakers, we are the MVPs of the team."
Prior to naming the album Wu-Massacre, a contest was reportedly made for fans to help in deciding a title.
"We Need a Group Name!!!!!," the message read last night (January 8). "Help us out! As you know Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Reakwon are teaming up for an album dropping very soon, but Meth, Rae & Ghost need a name 4 the group. Txt MethRaeGhost to 66937 to name the band! If they chose UR name U can be in the liner notes

Usher Talks Divorce, Justin Bieber, and Michael Jackson on ‘GMA’
Usher opens up to ABC anchor Robin Roberts about his divorce from Tameka Foster, the possibility of remarriage (“Let me just take my time”), disagreeing with his mother/manager, the success of his protégé Justin Bieber, and what Michael Jackson told him. He will perform material from his new album Raymond v. Raymond tomorrow on the “GMA” stage.
