Lil Wayne Inspires Game's Lakers "Champion Anthem" Tribute [Audio]
Game has released a Lil Wayne-inspired tribute track called "Champion Anthem" to celebrate his Los Angeles Lakers winning the NBA Finals last night.
Writing via Twitter, Game credited Wayne for motivating him to make a tribute.
"Last yr, my n*gga Weezy did a song 4 Kobe, but he locked up n LA is MY CITY so its only right dat I do it this year ! I got this @liltunechi"
"Hustlin' the CHAMPION'S THEME SONG is comin straight to your page in.........."
The rapper was also reportedly at last night's championship game.
Game releases "Hustlin'" (Champion's Anthem) as Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers become World Champions again. Game was spotted court-side last night at Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Game tweeted just after the Lakers victory, shouting out to Lil Wayne, who released a Kobe Bryant song during last years Lakers championship run, saying he would hold it down for Kobe this year.
Wayne's tribute, however, was made prior to the Lakers' winning the NBA Finals last year.
"Kobe 'doin' work', 2-4 on my shirt," Weezy raps. "He the greatest on the court, and I'm the greatest on the verse....2-4 so nice, my flow so mean/Catch me at the game sittin' next to Goldstein/Kobe Bryant Nikes, purple, gold strings/Kobe in the game, homie you know who the team/'Black Mamba,' attack, conquer/basketball Weez, rap monster/cross over good, or turn around jumper/Or I'll just drive the lane and dunk on dunkers/You know where it's going, it's going down yo/This is the late show, but don't drown though/I call him King Bryant, not let the crown show."
Recently, New York rapper Nas said he was a fan of the Lakers.
"When I tell you man, the amount of love for Ron Artest, how insane it is from my 'hood, from Queensbridge, it is a beautiful thing," Nas said in an interview. "We all root for Ron. We're all supporting Ron. I wasn't with the Lakers before [they signed Ron]. I'm with the Lakers now for that. I love him. He plays a great part in the team. We are rooting for Ron all day long."
