Paul Wall's "Heart Of A Champion" Album Cover Revealed
The cover art for Paul Wall's upcoming Heart of a Champion album debuted on the internet today.
The artwork features Wall wearing his music group's "Expensive Taste" tee-shirt.
Above is the official album cover to Paul Wall's upcoming album, "Heart Of A Champion." It is the rapper's fifth studio album and you can expect a lot of production from none other than Travis Barker. Other collaborators include Yelawolf, Jim Jones, Chamillionaire, Bun B and Devin the Dude. 'Champion' hits stores June 29th.
Wall recently talked about collaborating with various regional emcees for the new album.
"Honestly I work with whoever is down to work with me. I filmed a documentary about blood diamonds with Raekwon back in 2006, so our collaboration has been 'in the works' for a while.....The same goes for Jim Jones. Yelawolf came by the studio to work on Travis Barker's solo album, and I just happened to be there recording also, so that was a blessing. I also have a song with Bun B and Kid Sister. Like I said though, I work with who ever is down to work with me."
He has also justified using rocker Travis Barker to produce half of his album.
"That's what a lot of people are assuming [as it being rock], but his Hip-Hop production is amazing," he said in an interview. "You wouldn't even guess that the worlds most popular/talented drummer is producing these tracks. Since he plays the drums, I think he has a different perspective on production. His style is definitely very unique. But I really don't feel that there is a rock sound in the tracks he produced for my album. There is one song called 'Heart of a Hustler' that does have it, but the other six songs he produced don't."
His fourth solo project will also feature guest spots from Slim Thug and Lil' Keke.
Feature duties for "Heart of a Champion" include a diverse list of cast members including Jim Jones, Yelawolf and Raekwon but do not ignore Paul's Houston roots; Bun B, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Devin the Dude and Lil' Keke each get their turn at the mic. Another Houston feature is Johnny Dang aka TV Johnny with whom Paul Wall shares a grills and jewelry business which caters to A-list celebrities and average Joes alike.

Paul Wall On Copping Jim Jones & Raekwon Collabos, "I Work With Who Ever Is Down"
Southern rapper Paul Wall recently talked about getting regional contributions from artists like Jim Jones, Yelawolf and Bun B for his upcoming album, Heart of a Champion.

For Wall, he is open to any and all artists that are willing to share time on the microphone.

The rapper recently reunited with estranged associate Chamillionaire thanks to some help from Killer Mike.
"I really consider Paul and I really consider Chamillionanire friends," Mike told Rap Radar's Elliot Wilson. "Like, I landed in Texas and got to know them from the time they were still together and doing work and doing some shows but I didn't get to see them...I grew in friendship with both of them -- the crazy part was I never got to see them perform together, I never got to see it together. I would hound Chamillionaire, I would hound them. I was like, 'Y'all got to do it, y'all boys got to do it.' Both of them are beautiful brothers man -- as a fan, to all the fans, when we complain, they listen!"
Earlier this month, Bun B talked about seeing Cham and Paul come back together.
"I think it's a great thing for hip-hop in general," Bun explained in an interview. "When you have good people that make goodmusic together come together and make great music, it's a great thing. We don't worry about circumstances; we just appreciate the opportunity to see great music being made again. It's definitely a resurgence of Houston music right now. The second wave is coming. This is just something to kick everybody in the nuts, like you better get it right because we trying to get it down here in the H."
Heart of a Champion is scheduled to drop Tuesday, June 29th.

Paul Wall Co-Signs Travis Barker, "His Hip-Hop Production Is Amazing"
Southern rapper Paul Wall has talked about working with former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker on his upcoming album.
Wall claims Barker has an amazing talent for making hip-hop beats.
"That's what a lot of people are assuming [as it being rock], but his Hip-Hop production is amazing," he said in an interview. "You wouldn't even guess that the worlds most popular/talented drummer is producing these tracks. Since he plays the drums, I think he has a different perspective on production. Barker will produce half of Wall's fourth solo project, Heart of a Champion.

Almost half of the tracks featured on the album are produced by long-time friend and Expensive Taste band-mate, Travis Barker. The album will also feature several songs from Expensive Taste, the group which includes Skinhead Rob (Transplants) in addition to Paul and Travis.
Wall will also feature a variety of guest appearances on the album.

"Everybody raised me to believe I was a kid and an individual. So me being White or any other characteristic didn't define who I was," he explained in an interview. "So I didn't carry myself as a White person. I am who I am. I also think I'm wise enough to know you can't compare me to Eminem due to his success and style. Also my sound was different. Coming from Texas there's a large Mexican and Jamaican population so it's multiracial. So my fan base is extremely multiracial so that has something to do with it, too."

Paul Wall On Avoiding The Race Card, "You Can't Compare Me To Eminem Due To His Success & Style"
Southern rapper Paul Wall recently opened up about avoiding comparisons to fellow white rappers like Eminem and Vanilla Ice and said his upbringing played a large role.
Paul feels his Texas roots helped him avoid being stereotyped as just another "white rapper."
"Everybody raised me to believe I was a kid and an individual. So me being White or any other characteristic didn't define who I was," he explained in an interview. "So I didn't carry myself as a White person. I am who I am. I also think I'm wise enough to know you can't compare me to Eminem due to his success and style. Also my sound was different. Coming from Texas there's a large Mexican and Jamaican population so it's multiracial. So my fan base is extremely multiracial so that has something to do with it, too."
Last year, Eminem talked about being blindly compared to then-newcomer Asher Roth.
"Asher Roth, I haven't had a chance to, like, really get into everything, like, really get into what he's about, because I've only heard a couple songs," Em said in the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine. "There was talk about people saying he sounded like me, and he was doing this and that and, you know, trying to take what I do and do it. You know, sh*t like that. I've heard things. But the stuff that I've heard from him honestly, which certainly isn't enough for me to make my own opinion and say, 'Yeah, he does sound like me' or 'No, he doesn't.' But the couple of songs I've head, I don't really think he does. You know what I mean? He's doing his own thing. I can respect it, too, because at the end of the day, I think he's dope."
In the past, rap mogul Jay-Z has talked about moving away from the standard "black music" stereotype in hip-hop.
"On the show as well were Third Eye Blind and Kelly Clarkson," Jay explained talking about a 2009 Arizona concert. "I thought that to be the oddest pairing ever but, soon realized, it's what I've always professed. There is no such thing as black music or white music only good or bad music. It's stupid cool to like things that are not like you, and that goes for outside of music. If you're an African American you can have a Jewish friend...I think concerts like this should happen more often...I'm putting that into the universe..next up Taylor Swift and Uncle Murda!!"

Killer Mike On Reuniting Chamillionaire & Paul Wall, "When We Complain, They Listen" [Video]
Southern rapper Killer Mike recently spoke on helping reunite Texas duo Chamillionaire and Paul Wall for their current road tour.
According to "Mike Bigga," his close ties to both rappers allowed him the opportunity to reach out and suggest the duo share a concert stage again.
"I really consider Paul and I really consider Chamillionanire friends," Mike told Rap Radar's Elliot Wilson. Cham broke the news of their reunion via Twitter last month.
"It's official @chamillionaire & @paulwallbaby are going on tour together. ITS GOIN ALL THE WAY DOWN," he wrote referring to hitting the road alongside fellow Texan Paul Wall. "Just finished signing the first 1,000 MAJOR PAIN cds. Me and my bright ideas. I'm guessing that 75% of my followers have Susan Boyle & Mariah Carey albums considering how many albums they are selling." (Chamillionaire's Twitter)
Paul later confirmed the road trip through his own Twitter page.

Back in 2007, Wall talked about mending his issues with Cham.
"I was so proud of that boy [Chamillionaire] that he won the Grammy, I ran up and gave him a big ol' hug, man," he told SOHH. When asked if he'd be willing to work with Chamillionaire, his one-time collaborator, he replied: "I'm down. I just want to get these record labels on board that believe in the project. I'm sure a lot of labels would love to do it because of the potential of the hype, but if we get a record label that believes in it, I'm not opposed to it." (SOHH)
