Nipsey Hu$$le Unfazed By Ice Cube's Blog Remarks, "[Anybody] After Game Is Considered 'New West'" [Video]

West Coast rapper Nipsey Hu$$le has weighed in on Ice Cube's recent blog marks calling out rap newcomers from California.

From Nipsey's perspective, his association with Cube gave him a pass.

"The reason I don't take personal offense when people say stuff about the 'New West' is because I'm Nipsey," he said in an interview. "If they don't say Nipsey I don't take personal offense to it. Unless it's obviously directed at me. That's different, people can make sly remarks that you know are directed towards you and some are general. Saying the 'New West' that could be 50 new rappers. Anything after Game is considered 'New West' and that's a lot of people. So you know, plus I talked to Ice Cube personally at the 'BET Awards' -- he said 'I got 16 [bars] for you when you're ready,' so I figured it wasn't directed toward me but if a n*gga thought it was, guess they were supposed to do what Jay Rock did, speak his mind and do what men do and get it off they chest."
Cube recently clarified his remarks and said he was only protecting his veteran status.

"I got burnt out," Cube wrote explaining why he stopped producing new emcees. "N*ggas couldn't take the baton and run wit it. I was sick of babysitting grown a** men and walking them through the industry...With that being said, I understand my last few blogs have been talked about in the streets and all over the internet. I want to make myself clear to all my fans who think I turned my back on the young rappers out here. No. I wish every young MC nothing but success, especially the ones from the New West. BUT, I have a major problem with any mothaf*cka from ANY COAST dissing the Old West...especially me. I'M SERVING YOU! Now, I alot of people want me to name names. Buy therecord. In stores July 13th. I ain't naming names at this time, but I'm adding names. You let me know if you wanna be on the list.
Last week, his blog addressed the emergence of West Coast rap newcomers.

"What's up with these local MC's in L.A. who keep disrespecting me? They're just mad cause I don't f*ck with they wack-a**," he wrote. "They ain't on my level, why should I waste my time. I don't even remember ever meeting these clowns or even being in the same room with any of 'em. They can't make a name for themselves so they need help from the O/G's. I refuse the throw'em a life line. F*ck'em. It ain't my job to make nobody famous. And for the record, I ain't scared of no n*gga. Especially, no rappers....seriously people."
The posting caught the attention of fellow California rapper Jay Rock who addressed the matter via Twitter.

"WATTS UP WIT ICE CUBE TALKIN KRAZY ABOUT NEW WEST N*GGAS.IF HE GOT A PROB WIT 1 OF US HE SHUD SAY R NAME N STOP BN SCARED 2 CALL A N*GGA OUT," Rock wrote Wednesday (March 17) night. "What's up with these local MC's in L.A. who keep disrespecting me? They're just mad cause I don't f**k with they wack-a**. -ice cube They ain't on my level, why should I waste my time. I don't even remember ever meeting these clowns -ice cube (cont) ... ON SOME REAL STUFF I AINT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH CUBE OR NONE OF THE OG N*GGAS. BUT IF HE SAY NEW WEST IM APART OF THAT (CONT) TO ME HE TALKIN BOUT ALL OF US IF HE DIDNT SAY A NAME. THATS HOW THE WEST GOT F*CKED UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.(CONT) YALL KNOW AINT NO N*GGA STAMPED ME. Nipsey Hussle To Jae Millz, "If You Been Rapping 10 Years & Ain't Drop Yet, It's Over!"

Rap newcomers Nipsey Hussle and Freddie Gibbs have responded to Jae Millz's negative comments about the XXL Magazine Freshmen 2010 list.

Nipsey addressed the controversy on Twitter.

'N*ggaz got they pantys in a bunch over that xxl cover....," he wrote Tuesday (March 30) night. "and 4 tha record if u been rappin 10 years and ain't drop yet....its over! -Nh."
Gibbs said he felt Millz's comments were not directed toward him.

"I don't know jae millz never met him," he wrote on Twitter last night, "never had a conversation,I didn't address it cuz I didn't feel like he was talkin to me."

During a recent interview Jae Millz pointed out his issues with the magazine cover

"I don't feel no sort of way about me not being in the Top 10 but can't no n*gga tell me that my n*gga Vado ain't supposed to be on that cover or on the flip cover of that XXL Top 10 Freshmen issue," Millz said in an interview. "Can't nobody tell me that, and if you do want to argue with me, you can argue with me about anything because I only know five n*ggas out of the ten n*ggas on that cover. And my ears [are] to the streets...I'm not even gonna say the name of the n*ggas I know, that's gonna single n*ggas out or whatever, but n*ggas know whose supposed to be on that cover and n*ggas know who ain't supposed to be on that f*cking cover."

When asked his opinion, J. Cole said he understood Millz's stance on the situation.

"I haven't," Cole said when asked if he was familiar with Vado. "But I did see that -- I heard he co-signed him. I don't know who in particular he was talking about and I don't know him but if that's his opinion, that's his opinion. Like, that's how I feel. I don't feel any type of ill will towards him for saying that, if that's how he feels, he's sticking up for his man there. That's what it is but I feel like whoever is on that cover would beg to differ. I personally, it don't matter to me because I know what I deserve and what I don't deserve. I know what I work for. But I feel like, I don't know, everybody on that cover could make that case, if you ask them."
