Fat Joe Pays Lil Wayne 4 Hour Rikers Visit, "We Were Up In There Dying Laughing"

Terror Squad leader Fat Joe has opened up about a recent four-hour Rikers Island visit he paid to incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne.

Joe said his "Make It Rain" collaborator is doing fine as he serves a one-year jail sentence.

"Lil Wayne, it's such a shame...He's in great spirits. I love Lil Wayne; that's like my little brother. He's just the coolest dude on Earth. I tell you one thing, him not being high made me realize how much funnier he is. This guy has jokes. We were up in there for four hours, just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor...He's a beautiful dude. He did what he did. He had a gun on him, but people don't really know how much of a great father that he is, great of a person he is, a friend, a loyal dude. He's charismatic. It's just sad to see him over there like that, but I'm pretty sure he learned his lesson, and he's gonna be focused."

Last month, Fat Joe revealed that he visited Wayne via Twitter.

"Just Leaving Rikers Island from seeing my brother Lil Wayne!!!!," Fat Joe wrote on June 11.

Young Money's Shanell aka SNL recently talked about visiting her boss.

"I've been up there a few times," Shanell revealed in an interview. "Nobody likes to see somebody they care about put in that kind of position so it is hard but like again, he never really shows that side of himself. So when you see him, it's like, 'What's up?' sits down and talks like we're at the studio or something. But I think it's a situation that's gonna bring everybody a whole lot closer because now, outside of music, we all have to deal with each other in a personal way. So when we're sitting down speaking, you would think we're speaking about music but it's more like, 'How are you doing?' -- I think that everybody is gonna kinda learn from the situation. He's been reading and observing. It's like watching TV in there for him. Wayne is a very, very smart individual and I think he's watching. He's acted out each person that he's come into contact with and it's crazy to see because I'm watching him turn into one person to the next and next and next. It's different for him."

Following the BET Awards 10 ceremony last month, Wayne released an open letter to fans.

"I hope everyone's summer has been going well doing whatever it is you like to do. On my end, I'm alive, breathing and blessed. You already know how I'm passing the time - reading and working out. I know I say it every letter, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for the pictures, rocking free weezy tees, and continuos letters. They mean the world. I promise to continue to update as much as I can and answer as many questions as I can from you guys. Shout out to my YM family for making me proud last night. Love and appreciate life. God bless."
