Game Suffers Another "R.E.D." Setback, Album Release In Question

West Coast rapper Game's R.E.D. Album has reportedly suffered another setback and will not hit shelves in early July.

According to reports, his album does not have a new release date.

The R.E.D. Album was originally due in stores on June 15th, but that date was changed to June 29th. The next release date given for the rapper's fourth studio album was listed as July 6th, but that date has been pushed back as well. While an exact release date has yet-to-be confirmed, the album should land in stores this Summer. According to sources close to Game, he canceled a series of listening sessions slated to take place this week, so that he could focus on recording new material for the R.E.D. Album.

Last month, reports claimed that Game would drop on the same day as Big Boi's Sir Luscious Leftfoot.

The summer release schedule is getting one more shake-up. Game's R.E.D. Album has been moved to July. The rapper's fourth LP has been delayed one week to July 6 from its previous June 29 date. Other releases that week include Kelis' Flesh Tone and Big Boi's Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.

Game previously talked about competing on June 15th with Drake's debut album.

"Nah man, it's just a package deal, you should go and support hip-hop, go get Thank Me Later and go grab R.E.D. and you good," Game said in an interview. "You know you're good, then the next week you come back and buy Eminem, great. June is gonna be a big month. So no, it's no competition. Everything don't gotta be a competition and we're not even the same type of [artist,] we're not in the same lane. I respect what he does and I talked to him before, he's a fan of mine so we'll just keep it like that and put it out, people will go and buy them and who cares who's number one, number two, it don't make no sense to me because I've been around and sold millions of records already. I have nothing else to prove."

He recently talked about not feeling a need to promote the album as strongly as previous efforts.

The rapper says he believes seniority in music equates with not having to promote upcoming projects, and that's exactly the approach he's taking for the release of his fourth studio album. "I'm not into promoting. I give you a date, and if you're a Game fan, then you'll get the album," the West Coast rapper says matter-of-factly about his upcoming album, "R.E.D.," due July 6 on Interscope Records. "I don't sell myself. This is my fourth album. I don't think I need to do all that...Generally I just wake up in the morning and I live life and I make my decisions as far as music goes based on how I'm feeling that day."

No further details have been revealed as of now.
