Fabolous Downplays Jim Jones Twitter Disses, "I Don't Know Where His Comment Came From"
New York rapper Fabolous has opened up about his Jim Jones Twitter disses from earlier this week and said he is not looking to spark a Street Fam versus Dipset rivalry.
According to Fab, he had to defend his image after Jones allegedly made a subliminal diss toward him via Twitter.
"I don't know where his comment came from," Fab said. "I joked around with it too. It was kinda subliminal. I think it's definitely competition. But you can say things -- it gets taken out of context whether you meant it as a joke or not. It could have been his opinion, but it still was thrown the way he threw it. It could have been taken in the context of you taking a shot at somebody. But I had fun with it, I made some jokes. That's it. I'm not looking at it as I got a really big problem or East Coast/West Coast beef. I cracked a couple of jokes about it. I'm not making a diss record about it. The point I'm in, I'm focusing on career. I'm branded as an artist. I'm almost 10 years in the game. Twitter dissing isn't important. My last mixtape states where I'm at -- there is no competition. That's on Twitter as well."
Jones caught Fab's attention after a reference was tweeted regarding his new "Body Ya" music video.
"I just seen another rappers video tht look just like me chain gang n scarf dam I'm sonnin these n*ggaz I gues my style might body ya lol wht," he wrote Tuesday (March 30) afternoon. "RT @ChrisLuck83: these n*ggas mad I think cuz he found out he was @jimjonescapo son when he was wishin it was jay who forgot to wear a r New app on iPhones .. jimjones How to get fresh 101 ... free scarf n belt included lol owwwwww lmao G.O.R in Harlem now Can I atleast get a thnku for gettin ur Twitter acct poppin lol I'm out I quit I quit pow pow play dead lol"
Fab responded two hours later with his own Jones references including the rapper's 2006 hit single, "We Fly High (Ballin')" and 2008's "Pop Champagne."
"Oh so it's time 4 subliminal tweets huh?? Ok cool..#TellMeWhyUMad I'm mad cuz it's over for that ballin.... Brooklynnnnnnnnnnnnnnn," Fab wrote. "#TwitterRules If u wanna get at me, @ me... Anyway, Gettin a new blackberry... #TT coming soon!!! #iJustWannaKnoWhy if they know the order, they didn't bring you NO ROSEI's jus a few cold waters?? Whoa Oh! Last year, Fab said artists should be careful about what they tweet.
"The only thing I really don't like about Twitter is a lot of what you say can be taken out of context," Fab said in a statement. "If you say something now, the way the media is, if you include somebody's name in it, it becomes a big web and big blog interest."
