T.I. Rescues Atlanta Man From Deadly Suicide Attempt

Rapper T.I. reportedly helped convince a man from attempting a suicide jump off an Atlanta building Wednesday afternoon.

Initial reports suggested the incident took place around late afternoon.

T.I. saves the day. Or at least the possible Midtown jumper's life. Atlanta Police tell CL the rap star visited the scene of today's incident and told officers he wanted to speak with the unidentified man who around 4 p.m. had threatened to jump from the 22-story Colony Square Building.

The man was reportedly given a personal message to speak with T.I.

Investigators sent in a hostage negotiator to help talk the man down. Atlanta police said T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris was in the area and stopped by the scene to see if he could help. Police took a message from T.I. to the man on the roof, saying the rapper was downstairs and wanted to talk to him. According to police, the would-be jumper got down from the roof and walked down to the lobby, where he talked to T.I. for a few minutes.

Confirmation on what went down has been given by Atlanta authorities.

"He came to the scene and offered to talk to him, we told the young man that, and he came down," Officer James Polite with Atlanta police told the AJC. When the man threatening to jump came down, T.I. was waiting and the two talked for a few minutes, Polite said. The man, whose name was not released, was then transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, Polite said.

Despite his good deed, T.I. will appear in court later this week for a parole violation hearing.

Rapper T.I. is headed back to federal court in Atlanta next week to explain why his probation shouldn't be revoked after his recent arrest in Los Angeles. U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. has set the hearing for 2 p.m. on Oct. 15 for T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris. The same judge sentenced Harris for firearms violations.

No further details have been released as of now.

Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne has broken his silence on being placed in solitary confinement for the remainder of his time in Rikers Island on a gun conviction.

Writing via a letter, Wayne described what time of punishment he has gone through as a result of possessing an unauthorized MP3 player last spring.

"By now I'm guessing that you all have heard about my recent relocation to the bing, which is punitive segregation. Basically, no T.V., no radio, no snacks/junkfood, and one phone call a week. This punishment has been handed to me for my earlier MP3 incident. I admit, I fu#ked up and now I must deal with the consequences. As I write this, I only have 25 days left, and it'll be even less than that when you read this. So honestly, I'm fine. Obviously, this gives me a lot of time to myself and a lot of alone time with my thoughts, which can be creatively dangerous. I do miss being able to hear from my family everyday but once a week will have to suffice. To them, I apologize. I'm still able to receive mail so reading and responding is still a huge part of my day. I'd like to thank everyone that sent me B-Day cards and wishes... that was terrific. Wayne also took the opportunity to thank fans for supporting his new I Am Not A Human Being album.

Earlier this month, Wayne asked fans to stop sending in letters.

As of now, Wayne will reportedly serve out the remainder of his term in solitary confinement.

Rikers Island has moved the rapper to solitary confinement as part of his punishment for getting caught with headphones and amp3 player back in May (the jail had to wait for a spot to open up). He will be confined to an isolation cell for up to 23 hours a day until he is released November 4, and will see his out-of-cell time restricted to visits, religious services and a single hour of recreational time per day. Also, he will now only get to make one personal phone call a week.

Kanye West Rejected Twista's Request To Join G.O.O.D. Music, "He Should've Done It"

Chicago rap veteran Twista has revealed previously reaching out to Kanye West to join G.O.O.D. Music and being turned down by the rap star.

Twista said he believed West should have considered aligning him with his company.

"I actually wanted to [sign] at one point, Twista recalls of Kanye's 2008 Graduation era. "But I don't know what time of vibe Kanye had with me at that time...I mentioned that I would be getting out of my [Atlantic Records] contract and wondered if he wanted to jump down. But I don't know, I guess it wasn't a good idea for him at the time.He should've done it. He would've had 'Wetter' [Laughs]."

Last month, West added rap veteran Mos Def to the G.O.O.D. Music roster.

The Brooklyn MC and West talk about the deal and break down their musical relationship in the October issue of XXL, which comes out on Tuesday and features a Kanye cover story. And Mos Def makes an appearance on West's G.O.O.D. Friday single "Lord, Lord, Lord," along with Swizz Beatz, Raekwon and singer Charlie Wilson. Mos' decision to join G.O.O.D. Music follows the release of his last album, The Ecstatic, on indie label Downtown Records in 2009. The rapper/actor and Kanye first collaborated on the Chicago MC's College Dropout, for "Two Words," and then again on "Drunk and Hot Girls."

West's "Power" producer, Symbolyc One (S1) recently told SOHH he was working with Pusha T and other G.O.O.D. Music artists.

"I'm working with Kanye on the album," S1 told SOHH. "He's pretty much finishing that up so I've been working real close with him on that. And then also, he has a bunch of other artists and projects that he's working on for his G.O.O.D. Music roster to other outside projects and he wants me to be a part of that as well. I've been working really close with him on that, working with Pusha T on his album stuff, Musiq Soulchild and then eight joints with Talib Kweli for his next album. And then, you never know, hopefully Jay-Z and Beyonce stuff. You just never know where you're going to go."

Despite being talked about as a label, G.O.O.D. Music affiliate GLC recently explained the company's make-up.

"G.O.O.D Music isn't a label for one; a lot of people have the misconception that G.O.O.D Music is a label but really it's basically a family and like a production company. What they do is you get a distribution deal and if you're a G.O.O.D Music artist, then you come out on G.O.O.D Music and the distribution deal. Whoever I decide to do my deal with it will be through G.O.O.D Music because I'm a G.O.O.D Music artist."

Shyne Co-Signs Nas' Def Jam E-Mail Blast, "He Don't Understand Why People Are Buying An Ex-Prison Guard's Records"

A week after Nas' scathing e-mail to Def Jam Records began circulating the Internet, Shyne spoke with SOHH & offered his thoughts on his groupmate's frustration.

In light of Nas' issues with the label, Shyne said he completely understood the rap veteran's complaints.

"It's crazy because I got a letter out too," Shyne told SOHH. "And that's on MTV.com. It's on a blog journal I'm doing for them. It's crazy. I wrote my letter about a week or two ago so when I heard [about Nas' e-mail], the last person I spoke to told me about it. I definitely support his position and that's what happened to hip-hop. That's what happened to music but definitely hip-hop. You got a bunch of executives that don't know nothing about music and they got their job by tying somebody's shoe laces, folding their pants for them and don't know anything about music. And unfortunately and especially with Def Jam, you got a leader of the record company that if he could have one wish, he would wish that hip-hop didn't exist. That's what I feel."

Shyne also spoke on Def Jam's executives and their inability to properly promote their artists.

"So they not gonna understand that Nas and Ghostface are modern day prophets," Shyne added. "Of course they don't understand the depths and complexities of selling an artist and [that] it's not just selling music. It's not just a hit Top 40 record. You gotta sell a lifestyle. But they so used to selling these rappers that are characters and then cup it with the fact that they don't like rappers period, so definitely he don't understand why people are buying an ex-prison guard's records. He don't even get that. So he's confused. They don't get that. I definitely support Nas."

Nas' letter hit the Internet and criticized Def Jam for their business practices.

"I won't even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the artist @ the end of the day, they don't connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist's dream and aspirations. You don't help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don't even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren't.... not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn't work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn't understand RAP. Pretty f*cked up situation."

He also stressed the importance of releasing a quality project like Lost Tapes.

"Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago at Columbia. Nobody knew what it was or what it did, but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it. I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It's smart and, after 5 years, it's still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I'm feeling is disturbing. Don't get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog sh*t on a MAGICAL moment. You don't get another Nas recording that doesn't count against my deal....PERIOD! Keep your bullsh*t $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain't many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don't even have sh*t coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let's get money!"

Drake Comes Clean About Penning Love Record For Nicki Minaj

Young Money star Drake has confirmed recent speculation that he wrote his Alicia Keys record, "Un-Thinkable," about labelmate Nicki Minaj.

According to Drake, he based his lyrics around his emotions toward Minaj.

"It is [about Minaj], I'm not gonna lie," Drake told BET.com. "The concept came from a conversation that we had, or conversations we have. I wrote it based off two things: number one, based off that, and then two, based off Alicia [Keys] and Swizz and their situation and it just seemed fitting. It was like the perfect concept."

Minaj broke the news of Drake writing the song for her in a recent interview.

"He told me he said something about me on a verse, but I didn't think it would be anything like ['Miss Me.']. He let me hear it for the first time when we did Jay's show at Madison Square Garden, the day before Wayne had to go to jail-- that night he let me hear it on the headphones. But you know what else he told me he wrote for me? The Alicia Keys song "I'm Ready." I happen to love the song. I never told anyone that, I hope he won't get mad that I said that.

Last month, Drake and Minaj jokingly told Twitter followers they were dating as a prank.

"No, Drama, don't be silly," Minaj told DJ Drama when asked about expecting kids with Drake. "Drake is just my little brother and I kid with him all the time. That's all. Yes, yes, we were just being crazy and I think we were a little bit bored. I wouldn't say we were bored, but we were being just mischievous. I did another interview and they asked me and I said, everyday I see things written about me that aren't true. So I wanted to kinda give the blogs a little bit of payback and put my own story out. [laughs] I don't date boys, I don't like boys. [laughs] It's true -- I think boys are yucky and that's it. There's nothing more to say."

Their prank also caught Drake's mother off guard who thought the two artists actually hooked up.

"My mom was actually like, 'What happened? How did you elope?' " the rapper, 23, told PEOPLE at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday. "But we were just joking around. I never thought it would get so out of hand...Ironically, I got a ring for myself, so people were like, 'Aw, you got married, and you have a ring you're wearing. People still think it's real. I'll look at a girl, and she'll be like, 'You're a married man. You shouldn't look at me that way.'"

Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck Death Rumors Surface

Rumors circulating about the alleged passing of Wu-Tang Clan member Inspectah Deck have hit the Internet as a result of an announcement made during the airing of last night's BET Hip-Hop Awards 2010.

During the broadcast, the Wu's Raekwon reportedly made a "rest-in-peace" reference about Deck.

Here's what seems to have happened. During Raekwon's performance at the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards, the fellow Wu-Tang member said, "Yo stop the music Premier...yo rest in peace my brother from the Wu, Inspectah Deck."

However, after further clarification, Rae was said to have been referencing his groupmate's late mother.

That's when people stopped listening and started freaking out. They Tweeted things like: "Inspectah Deck died??? WTF, confused right now." But if those who started pouring some out would have listened a little longer, they would have heard Raekwon say. "His old earth. His mother. Ms. Jason Hunter. Mrs. Hunter, we love you. Rest in peace." Yes, the Chef was talking about Inspectah Deck's mom. See kids, this is what happen when you don't listen.

Raekwon also hit up Twitter to explain his remarks.

"Ppl my brother deck is alive and well someone dearly to him passed and I dedicated that to them!," he tweeted Tuesday (October 13) night.

Inspectah Deck is reportedly working on a new album.

Like U-God on "Dopium," The Rebel INS is giving the sound a new genre on a remix to his spring 2010 album. The Wu-Tang Clan emcee Inspectah Deck will close 2010 with a new version of the album he released earlier this year. Manifesto: Redux will feature 12 Dubstep versions of songs that originally appeared on Manifesto, the Rebel INS' spring album on Traffic Entertainment. The originals were produced by the likes of Alchemist and Lee Bannon.

Deck has contributed to over two decades worth of music as a member of The Wu-Tang Clan.

Inspectah Deck was one of the Wu-Tang Clan's lesser-known members, despite his talent as both an MC and producer. Born Jason Hunter, Deck earned the first part of his nickname as the quiet, watchful eye in the corner; his other aliases included Rollie Fingers, Fifth Brother, and Rebel INS, the latter a graffiti name tag he used as a youngster. Deck was born in Brooklyn but grew up on Staten Island, attending school with several future Wu members. He was heard on most of the key tracks from the group's classic 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), including the singles "C.R.E.A.M." and "Protect Ya Neck." Petey Pablo Waves White Flag At Federal Authorities

Southern rapper Petey Pablo will reportedly surrender to federal authorities in relation to being wanted on charges for a gun-related arrest last month.

According to reports, an arrest warrant has been issued to Pablo.

Rapper and Wake County resident Petey Pablo, who was arrested at Raleigh-Durham International Airport last month on gun charges, is now wanted by federal authorities. A federal arrest warrant charges Pablo, whose real name is Moses Barrett III, with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and trying to take the gun on an airplane.

Additional reports suggests Pablo will concede to police.

Pablo's representative claims the pistol does not belong to the star and he forgot the firearm was in his bag after taking it from a pal. But a federal judge has now issued an arrest warrant for Pablo after government officials claimed the star was fully aware he was in possession of "a concealed dangerous weapon that was and would have been accessible to him in flight". A spokesperson for Pablo tells the website he was unaware of the warrant but now plans to surrender to authorities early on Wednesday.

Details on the incident hit the Internet around mid-September.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin says 37-year-old Petey Pablo -- whose real name is Moses Barrett III -- was arrested Saturday morning. He is charged with being a felon with a gun and carrying a concealed, stolen weapon. Hamlin says Transportation Security Administration agents found a gun in the rapper's carry-on luggage.

He later addressed the situation and defended his innocence.

Initially asked if the act was a publicity stunt, the convicted felon who attempted to bring a pistol onto an airplane via a carry-on bag revealed that he simply forgot about the weapon. "[It] looks terrible," admitted the former Jive Records artist who now heads up CMG - Carolina Music Group. "A lot of people were disappointed. Understand, the situation...anybody that knows me knows that I ain't gonna do nothin' stupid," continued Petey. Speaking about his culture, the "Raise Up" hit-maker asserted, "We don't do stupid things." Claiming that he believed the bag was weighted down with the two Apple laptops he frequently travels with, Petey Pablo acknowledged his mistake. "At the same time, I apologize to anybody that I may have let down. Understand, I did something that I thought was right at the time."

Nelly Drops Hints On "Tip Drill" Movie, "Everybody's Not Gonna Love It" [Video]

St. Lunatics' Nelly has hinted at plans to perpetuate his controversial adult-themed 2003 "Tip Drill" music video into a full-length, theatrical release in the near future.

While opting not to divulge specifcs, Nelly said he has been contemplating putting the project into motion.

"We talked about doing Tip Drill: The Movie," Nelly revealed in an interview with DJ Vlad. "Who knows. Tip Drill: The Movie. [laughs] We got something, we got something...It's just something along those lines of trying to come up with something that's a little bit creative and like I said again, everybody's not gonna love it. It goes hand in hand, man. You can't tell me I'm like 'this,' when you don't even know me."

Recently, Nelly defended his adult-targeted music video.

"I'm not bound by anything in terms of my freedom to create, who says everything you create has to be accepted by everyone? If I only did one thing, one way then I wouldn't be an artist. Everything in the history of art and music wasn't accepted at first. Not to say what I did wasn't risqué, but it was needed at the time. All I did was entertain adult fans. It even came on an adult show at 3 a.m. It wasn't like the girls in the video were offended by it. Never will I take any of that back. I didn't make 10 of them. I made one video and people wanted to condemn me for it. And people wanted that video to outweigh all the other good things I've done. All my not-for-profit work, helping find marrow donors, community programs and take all that away from me. I was just young and having fun."

The video landed Nelly in front of a firing squad in 2005 after a college cancelled his appearance due to the buzz surrounding "Tip Drill."

The music video for "Tip Drill" became a source of controversy due to perceptions of misogynistic depictions of women. The controversy forced Nelly to cancel an appearance at a bone marrow drive at Spelman College, a historically black college in Atlanta, Georgia. Similar claims of misogyny also surrounded Nelly's single "Pimp Juice". RIAA have certified the album Platinum.

Following the controversy, Nelly defended his racy visual.

"I respect women, and I'm not a misogynist. I'm an artist. Hip-hop videos are art and entertainment. Videos tell stories; some are violent, some are sexy, some are fun, some are serious. As for how women are shown in the videos, I don't have a problem with it because it is entertainment...No one knows what a particular woman's situation is, what her goals are. Being in that video may help her further those goals. Several women who have been in my videos have gone on to do TV appearances and movies. No one can dictate other people's choices and situations."

Kanye West Dresses "Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" In Jewels

Grammy-winning rapper/producer Kanye West has described what fans could expect from his upcoming Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.

West enlisted the assistance of producers like RZA and Q-Tip to create a "throwback" feel for his latest LP.

"I wanted to take it back to the essence, like the soulful people who brought knowledge--like RZA and Q-Tip. At a certain point, you need to find a better way to do it; it's like people [in basketball] who dunk and hurt their wrist and come down on their knees too hard. Your knee's gonna give out at a certain point. Some of my social and public-persona knees are starting to give out. I still want to run the games. I've just got to not get kicked up quite as hard." Last month, Q-Tip discussed West's state of mind in approaching the upcoming solo project.

"This album is, in a good way, going backwards. He's such an artist. He knows exactly what he's doing. When he did [808s & Heartbreaks] that was such a departure from College Dropout. But now he's stepping backwards so this album will be more of a sonic extension of College Dropout and Graduation but he's doing it with a new attitude. Mr. West said the first song on the album would be "Dark Fantasy," a track produced by RZA and co-produced by No I.D. and Mr. West, and the next single to be released would be a song called "All of the Lights." Kanye West finally confirmed on Twitter yesterday that his upcoming album will be released on November 22nd. Despite early word that the album would titled Good A** Job, Kanye tweeted that Fantasy "is and always was" the name of his fifth album. "The first song on the album is called 'Dark Fantasy' produced by The Rza co-produced by me and No I.D.," Kanye wrote. He added that some of his G.O.O.D. Friday free downloads will appear on Fantasy. Young Jeezy's "Thug Motivation 103" Gets Plowed Back

Southern rapper Young Jeezy's delayed Thug Motivation 103 album has reportedly been pushed back to a Christmas season release.

According to reports, the "Snowman" will plow his album into stores around mid-December.

Young Jeezy has had a tough time motivating the thugs this year. The third installment of his Thug Motivation series, TM103, has been facing delays ever since last year, but reps for Def Jam have confirmed with XXLMag.com that the disc will finally hit shelves on December 14. The Atlanta-based rapper already dropped several singles from the album--"Jizzle," "All White Everything" featuring Yo Gotti and "Lose My Mind" featuring Plies--to little fan fare.

In a recent GQ Magazine feature, Jeezy revealed the new work ethics he explored while working on the new album.

The album is like a hip-hop version of the Stones' Exile on Main St or Dylan's Basement Tapes: To make it, Jeezy went completely off the grid, descending in early 2010 into the basement studio in producer Shawty Redd's south Atlanta home. He didn't come out for three months. The vibe was different from what the Stones had in the South of France, however. Redd had recently returned home from jail on a murder charge, posting $200,000 in bail. (A trial date is still pending.) Jeezy begins the story of the sessions like this: "I had just got off tour with Jay-Z when Shawty got home. I went to his crib, we chopped it up, and finally I said, 'I'm gonna go home and grab my stuff.' Shawty was like, 'Grab what stuff?' I came back with all my clothes and sh*t and moved in." Jeezy hung a flat-screen in his new bedroom and even stocked the cupboard with his favorite cereal, Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Producer Drumma Boy recently talked about working on Jeezy's new album.

"With Jeezy, it's funny because when it comes to the music, I already know what he wants," Drumma said in an interview. "We've never actually worked in the studio together. The first time I ever heard 'Put On' was on the radio. [Laughs] Just the other day, he called me as soon as I woke up. First call of the day. He was like, 'Where you at? I need to get some more music.' I'll give him the intersection I'm at and he'll just ride down right then, pick up a beat CD and keep it moving. It's like a real dope deal. I really got crack! [Laughs] All our joints come that way. Even with [the album's street single] 'Lose My Mind,' I didn't hear that until we mixed it. So I can't tell you exactly what I've got on there yet, but in addition to "Lose My Mind," I'm gonna have two of three other joints on the album."

Jeezy previously discussed what rap fans could expect to hear from the upcoming project earlier this year.

"But June, by the way," he said of the LP's release date. "That's what I'm thinking. If you the boss, you can talk like that. I'm thinking June. I wanna own the summer. If you coming out [with an album] in June, you might wanna think about that, bruh. TM103, I will be there...I'm just going in, basically handling my business. I gotta say what's on my mind. But I'm not here to sell you on no album. Like I said, June, you will be surprised, homie. That's real talk. I been working on this. I been back in the lab...I got you."

Young Jeezy's Thug Motivation 103 is scheduled to drop Tuesday, December 14th.

Drake Puts Another Producer On Lockdown, "I've Seen More Of 9th Wonder Than My Mom" [Video]

Young Money star Drake has discussed his anticipation to clock in studio time with producer 9th Wonder in the near future as he prepares to mold the follow-up to Thank Me Later.

Accompanied by Wonder in an interview, Drake emphasized the importance of creating a bond with his collaborators.

"I think the best part about what me and 9th have is time," Drake said in an interview. "We have time to get it right so a lot of the collaborative that's been going on at this point have been discussions -- like, when I work [with] somebody, because I work so close with 40, because I know Boi-1da so well, they've been in my life since I was 18, 19. I like to really know somebody if I'm going to bring them in on a project. I think the best part is me and 9th, I've probably seen more of 9th than my mom in the last three weeks. I mean, me and 9th, we're building towards a working relationship that goes beyond 'Oh let me get some beats and I'll record to them.' I'm more looking forward to when I get off this tour in November, sitting down together, really crafting some stuff and we've talked about some things that would be great."

Recently, Drake announced that 9th would play a role on his upcoming sophomore LP.

Before he hit the stage at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square, the 23-year-old revealed that he no longer had a title for the follow-up to this year's Thank Me Later. "I can't tell you," he said of the album's new name--because he hasn't settled on one just yet. "I don't know yet, but we're figuring it out." The Toronto native clarified that he was once again working with his go-to producers Noah "40" Shebib and Boi-1da, in addition to 9th Wonder (Destiny's Child's "Girl," Jay-Z's "Threat"). "I started the album," he said. "I've got some great stuff that I'm really excited about. 40's in a really great place so he's making great beats. I started working with 9th Wonder, so yeah, it's good. It's early though."

Recently, Drake discussed the status of his upcoming album.

"I learned a lot from putting Thank Me Later out. I learned what worked for me-- I wouldn't necessarily say that there were things on that album that didn't work, but I learned what really worked for me, and what I loved and what the people loved. One of the best things is putting people around me in great positions. I got [Noah] '40' [Shebib] finally just financially, mentally in a great place. Some of the best material that he has made to-date since we started working, came right after Thank Me Later was finished. He just happened to be in a great place right after the album, so I've been sitting on about five or six beats that are really, really good. And I've got some great raps. Boi-1Da now, Boi-1Da is in a great place as well...My next album I feel like is going to be my best sonic work to date. I think that musically I'll be able to take it to another level now."

Young Money CEO Mack Maine also recently talked about Drake's album progress.

"Drake's crazy," Young Money president Mack Maine said in an interview. "He's doing a [R&B] mixtape right now. He called me one night, like two in the morning. He has the intro done for the new album. We was discussing dates where he should come back. That'll be soon. And this mixtape, he's gonna put that out quick. His formula is crazy. He works fast. I can't give the secret away to the formula. He's a musical genius. The way he and [producer] 40 put things together is crazy."

A projected release date for Drake's sophomore album has not yet been revealed.

Sean Price Softens Blow To Kid Cudi Fans [Video]

Boot Camp Clik's Sean Price has publicly apologized for controversially taunting Kid Cudi fans to "kill" themselves.

According to Price, his words were only meant to be perceived as a joke.

"You know what, I know I just said that, it's not no real, I don't know what you want to call it -- I shouldn't have said it like that," Price explained in an interview. "Even if you don't like they fans, you don't tell them to kill themselves because you know suicide [ain't] nothing to play with. So for that part, I apologize. It's music-wise though, I don't want to see them beat him up in the street or put harm on him...I still don't like his music."

Price initially mocked Cudi's fans and their support of his material.

"If you got Sean Price in your playlist and Kid Cudi in the same playlist, you need to don't be my fan no more, get outta here," Price said in a video. "Matter of fact, if you're a Kid Cudi fan, kill yourself. And that's all I got to say about that."

Last month, Cudi talked about no longer allowing artists to disrespect him.

"The last album, I let people dis me, throw out those jabs in their verses and have their little slick remarks. This time around, I'm not f*cking around. I have no time to think about other n*ggas. These other motherf*ckers like feeding off another n*gga's energy, so they mention their name. You hear me talk about n*ggas? ... N*ggas are just so thirsty it's ridiculous. I've been eating humble pie forever, and people still call me an a**hole. These people don't know my f*cking life--now I'm going to give them something to talk about."

Price has over two decades worth of music in his catalogue.

In the mid-'90s, Sean Price, known then as Ruck, and partner Rock dropped their debut album,Nocturnal, as the rap outfit Heltah Skeltah during a time when East Coast hip-hop was delivering mainstream and underground classics left and right. Heltah Skeltah and the rest of their collective, the Boot Camp Clik, never enjoyed the popular success of East Coast acts Wu-Tang Clan or Mobb Deep, but they did receive that same critical acclaim.

Diddy Finally Books "Last Train To Paris" Departure [Video]

Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy has finally announced a release date for his upcoming and delayed Last Train to Paris album.

According to Diddy, his Interscope Records debut will hit shelves this winter.

"What's up y'all," Diddy said in a video. "It's your boy. I'm about to start doing a lot of Diddy blogging. Last Train to Paris coming out December 14th. December 14th. December 14th. I'm just trying to show off my sh*t, yeah. Check it out, we here, at the video shoot for this joint called 'Loving You No More,' Rodney Jerkins produced it. This is how we kick it, super fly n*gga sh*t."

Last week, Diddy opened up about his album release fears.

"There's definitely nerves. It's nerve-wracking because there's more singing for me. You have a new concept, and it took people a while to buy into it," he explained. He added that despite the new direction of Diddy-Dirty Money, he's not about to totally abandon his past. "I think a lot of times people forget how many hits I've had," Diddy added. "I take pride in having hit records that still play in clubs now. I take people on a musical journey, and when we bring that up to date it just gets even more intense."

Recently, producer/rapper Yung Berg discussed his involvement on the album.

"A lot of people don't know that I've been behind the scenes producing and writing records for a lot of different artists. I actually have two records on Diddy's Last Train To Paris album that I produced, one called "Make Love To You" and "Half On A Baby" that I co-wrote as well. They're both slower, R&B type songs. He actually sent the "Half On A Baby record to Rico Love, who I've been building a relationship with."

The follow-up to 2006's Press Play was originally slated for a fall 2009 release.

"It's deeper than any of the other stuff I have ever made," Diddy said. "Last Train to Paris comes out in September [2009]...T-Pain gave me permission to use the vocoder, the auto-tune, and he showed me various tricks that nobody knows but him and myself."

Last Train to Paris is scheduled to drop Tuesday, December 14th.

Baby Regrets Not Signing T.I. & Young Jeezy To Cash Money Records [Video]

Cash Money Records co-founder Baby has revealed that he opted out of an opportunity to sign major rap stars T.I. and Young Jeezy to his label at the start of their careers.

The "Birdman" also noted that Keyshia Cole could've also aligned with his imprint.

"Um, I ran into a lot of them, I never spoke on this," Baby told radio host Angela Yee when asked about artists he could have signed. "I had a chance with Keyshia Cole. I had a chance with [Young] Jeezy. T.I. Yeah, T.I. used to be in the studio with us, writing every day. We used to let him come in the studio and just chill with us when he was out there in Atlanta, when we used to go out there and record. A lot of them, I wish, but at that time we was just young, focusing on us. But, they went and made great careers."

Over the summer, DJ Khaled signed a deal with Baby's Cash Money Records.

"It's definitely official, and I'm just excited about the new deal with Cash Money. Shout to Birdman, Slim. And free Weezy." Khaled said in an interview. "You know, I've always been a Cash Money member, not officially but I've been a fan forever...[Co-founder] Birdman always loved my work and passion. We've known each other for years, and he's always told me when you fulfill your contract with E1 you always got a home over here. I was going to sign myself, but I called Birdman and he said 'let's get the deal done in an hour.' He just wanted to make it happen."

The contract came weeks after Khaled's Miami associates Cool & Dre sealed their own deal with Cash Money.

"In 2011 it's all about diversifying your talent and aggressively pursuing opportunities," Andre "Dre" Lyon said in a statement. "It's not about replacing legends and their accomplishments, it's about creating a new legacy to inspire future young business men and women. Catch you at the Heat games, Wade let's get it!" Cool & Dre experienced success with Cash Money in the past, having produced tracks for Lil Wayne, Birdman and Young Money.

Producer Sean Garrett recently informed SOHH about a possible Cash Money deal being in the works.

"We got about four or five other deals on the table right now," Garrett told SOHH about his pending deal with Cash Money Records. "The negotiations is getting real heavy but you know, that's my home team, that's where I want to be so we're just gonna have to make it work. There's a few things that we're still going back and forth on but everything is looking really good and that's family regardless. I got so much love for them. Me and Tyga were just on '106 & Park' ... That'd be really really dope to be there with Cool & Dre. I've known them for a while, Cool & Dre. They're real cool people. I'm like a chameleon, Sean Garrett, I f*ck with everybody. I'm not a person that's hard to deal with. Even though I've been so successful, everybody knows how humble I am, I just do what I do."

Juelz Santana Blames Politics As Usual For Unreleased Lil Wayne Joint LP [Video]

Dipset's Julez Santana has provided an update on the long-awaited Lil Wayne collaborative album, I Can't Feel My Face, stating that politics have stalled its release.

While refraining from divulging specifics, Santana pointed the finger at the music industry for the would-be LP's failure to launch.

"The industry is a very political business," Santana told DJ Vlad. "You know, when you're dealing with politics, a lot goes on. If you look, T-Pain and Lil Wayne's album didn't come out. T-Wayne. So, it was nothing between me and Wayne. Wayne is my brother, shout-out to Weezy, Free Weezy all day. I'm actually supposed to see him this weekend coming up -- I gotta go see him. I wouldn't even feel like it's right if I didn't go see him. I'm too close to him not to go see him and that's my homie."

Last year, Santana said the two had previously recorded over 20 unreleased tracks together.

"Me and Wayne still have about 20 records that's recorded that's unreleased," Santana promised in an interview. "You dig what I'm saying? The record that we just did the video for was a new record that I just did but we have about 20 records recorded because we recorded about 40 records about two years ago, we were on the Chris Brown tour together. We recorded about 40 records and a couple of 'em got leaked so, make a long story short, hopefully. There's a lot of politics when it comes to that situation, so if we can make it happen, but you know, me and Wayne's relationship is still what it's supposed to be. So that's all I'm worried about, this is a business at the end of the day."

Santana discussed the project's delay in summer 2009 and described their aim to drop it via a major record label.

"The sh*t with me and Weezy, bottom line is we still got records done, a bunch of records," Santana explained in an interview. "We did a lot of records, a lot of politics and bullsh*t promotin' the album, promotin' the album. His album came out and he wound up going through the roof with everything so it's still a lot of politics. Couple records got leaked a few weeks ago, that just goes to show people we been had records already, those were like a year and a half old. We got about 25 records just sitting in the computer. Hopefully, we can put the album out the right way through a major label but if not, f*ck it, we gonna give the streets what they want. The music is done. So they gonna get it one way or another because it's not like we gotta go in the studio and record."

Santana previously said the album's delay was due to his past contractual issues with Cam'ron.

"I'm with whatever man," he said regarding a reunion with the Dipset leader. "I'm good. I can do me now so it ain't like if we was to do an album together, I can handle my business the way I wanna handle my business so I'm cool with anything. Ya dig? He ain't physically harm me, he ain't do nothing to me in that sense. Now I'm out, I'm free, I ain't got time to dwell on that bullsh*t...The album [with Wayne] is done. We got over like 45 records done, we was just waiting, like I said, even with the situation that I was in, that was kinda like affecting that from going down too. There's gonna be a lot of things happening and that's definitely one of 'em."

Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Friday Track Is Outdated, Says Lupe Fiasco

Last week's Kanye West G.O.O.D. Friday release, "Don't Stop," was reportedly recorded two years ago, according to one of the song's guest stars, Lupe Fiasco.

Fiasco stated that the latest West track originated in 2008.

"We went on the Glow in the Dark tour and it was just kinda like, maybe, maybe not, let's do a record, let's see ... so, 'Don't Stop' is kinda one of the records from that creative process a couple years ago," Lupe said, adding that West's bars may have been updated. "The song is two years old. I think 'Ye verse might be a little recent but I don't know...That song is like a song that we did in the midst of being [Child Rebel Soldier] when we were actually going to put out an album and just really wanted to test records and see if we should do more records like that, or should we do more records like 'Us Placers' or ... more down-low records, up-top records. We were just trying to figure out what should we do and that was one of the experiments that was bananas."

The record was West's follow-up to last week's "Christian Dior Denim Flow."

In the latest offering in Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Friday series, supergroup Child Rebel Soldier receives a resurrection. CRS, comprised of Kanye West, Pharrell and Lupe Fiasco, has not released a track since 2007's "Us Placers." However, at the premier of his Runaway film in London, Kanye hinted that a the group was not dead. That statement seems to be confirmed with the release of their latest track "Don't Stop!"

Circa 2007, West, Fiasco and Pharrell were planning to form a hip-hop supergroup entitled "Child Rebel Soldier."

Having already released one song via an online mixtape, CRS (Child Rebel Soldiers), the hip-hop supergroup featuring Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, is hoping to find time to craft an entire album. "Us Placers," which samples Thom Yorke's "The Eraser," was performed by Fiasco earlier this month during his set at Lollapalooza in Chicago. "Now [our labels are] working it out," the artist tells Billboard.com. Whoever is going to pay is going to pay a whole h*ll of a lot. Everybody is excited, [but] 'Us Placers' is the only record we have."

West is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming Dark Twisted Fantasy LP.

Kanye West finally confirmed on Twitter yesterday that his upcoming album will be released on November 22nd. Despite early word that the album would titled Good A** Job, Kanye tweeted that Fantasy "is and always was" the name of his fifth album. "The first song on the album is called 'Dark Fantasy' produced by The Rza co-produced by me and No I.D.," Kanye wrote. He added that some of his G.O.O.D. Friday free downloads will appear on Fantasy.

Cory Gunz Shoots To Escape Drake & Lil Wayne's Shadow

Newly signed Young Money artist Cory Gunz recently talked about being on Lil Wayne's label and what it will take to earn his own shine.

Despite being on the same label which also houses Nicki Minaj and Drake, Gunz is confident in his ability to get attention.

"I think, ultimately, I have to do me. If you notice, everyone you mentioned on the team all made their own lanes and names for themselves where you know it's Young Money because of the imprint and it's family, but they're out there heavy doing their own thing. Wayne, of course, started it because of his track record and work ethic, but the same goes for Drizzy, Nicki... Tyga doing his thing with Chris Breezy, Gudda and everyone else is doing their own thing, making their own noise. I'm just happy I can be somewhere and genuinely be myself and get credited for it. Young Money has given me the opportunity to just be me and we're going to see where it goes so get ready!"

Over the summer, Gunz hinted at an upcoming project featuring himself and Lil Wayne.

Often criticized for his lack of collaborations, Gunz explained that his hesitation in teaming up with other artists stems from his desire to keep his music innovative, "I always want to step outside the box when I do collaborations. Just know that I got some stuff in the works with Weezy when he comes home," says Cory of the currently incarcerated Lil Wayne. "People always ask why I don't do songs with too many people, but I just want sure if I work with someone we do something that never would be expected."

Last May, Gunz talked about Wayne taking an executive producer role on his upcoming untitled project.

"Shout out to Wayne for giving me a shot. He kept it real. All I'mma say, that this is it. This is what it is. Everybody just better get ready...Wayne is gonna executive-produce the album," he explained in an interview. "I trust his insight. He's going to be overseeing everything. I'm gonna keep doing the things I been doing. I think that's what's gotten me noticed. I'mma just keep my grind moving. Whatever ventures I can do, I'm bringing my family through. My whole team is gonna eat. I'm just telling everybody to get ready...I haven't met Nicki [Minaj] yet. Me and Drizzy met a while back when they was doing the I Am Music Tour in Arizona."

Speculation on Wayne signing Gunz developed last March.

Lil Wayne is turning himself in today but last night he spent time live on webcam where he first talked about his recent show with Jay-Z at Madison Square Garden. Wayne later said that Cory Gunz would be the next artist on his Young Money label. "Shout out to my n---a Cory Gunz, about to be the newest member of the Young Money team." Gunz tweeted over the weekend, "LOL. Young Money!!!!!!"

Nicki Minaj Wakes Up "Regis & Kelly"

According to reports, Minaj was accompanied by Black Eyed Peas' frontman Will.i.am during her set.

Season 23 of one of the most popular interview talk shows on TV looks to entertain today with Live with Regis and Kelly 'Helen Mirren / Lauren Conrad / will.i.am with Nicki Minaj'. Today on Live with Regis and Kelly the host welcomes Helen Mirren / Lauren Conrad / will.i.am with Nicki Minaj. The show will also have the usual comedy bits, stand up, and a variety of other interesting elements that are sure to keep viewers entertained.

The rapper hit up Twitter to remind fans about her performance.

"Tomorrow is Regis & Kelly in the morning and Tuesday is the BET Hip Hop Awards!!!!," she tweeted Sunday (October 10).

Despite airing today, Minaj filmed her performance last week.

Now the YM mistress will take her act to the "Regis & Kelly" stage for a performance with the Black Eyed Peas hitmaker once again. Nicki confirmed her appearance on the show via Twitter, telling her fans, "Shout out to all the kids outside Regis & Kelly. Thank you for all the love and support." Minaj taped the episode Tuesday, which airs Monday, October 11.

Earlier this month, Minaj turned heads after performing with Will.i.am on "The David Letterman Show."

Nicki Minaj arrives at NYC's Ed Sullivan Theater for an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday (October 4). The 25-year-old rapper performed her catchy tune "Check It Out" with will.i.am. Over the weekend, Nicki scooped up three honors at the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta. Young Money will take over MTV at this year’s Video Music Awards. Drake and Nicki Minaj have been added to the award show lineup.

MTV announced the first round of performers and presenters for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The 27th annual event will mark the first VMA performance by Drake, who is nominated for two awards including Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video.

His Young Money cohort Nicki Minaj, a first-time nominee for Best New Artist, is set to present, along with Trey Songz, Ne-Yo, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, and Selena Gomez.

The network also confirmed Kanye West’s return to the VMA stage following last year’s show-stealing moment. He will perform material from his fifth album, due November 16.

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. MTV will announce additional performers, presenters, and a host on a later date.

Bun B Calls On Drake For "Trill O.G." Promo, "It's Always A Good Thing When Me & The Young Boy Get Together"

UGK's Bun B recently talked about his chemistry with Drake and why he hopes to call in the Young Money rap star to help shoot visuals for their Trill O.G. collaboration, "Put It Down."

Bun said he was satisfied that their record was able to live up to the hype.

"Definitely look for some visuals for 'Put It Down' in the future," Bun said in an interview. "As well as 'It's Been a Pleasure.' We're gonna try to put out a visual for as much of Trill O.G. as we can...It's very hard to live up to the hype the people create for things nowadays; luckily, this song did. 'Cause a lot of time, people build something up, and it's almost impossible to match up to that. In this case, it matched up to it. And the fact that the other song, 'It's Been a Pleasure,' is on it, as well, you get two for two. It's always a good thing when me and the young boy get together. It's special music. That's how I feel, and I think that's how Drizzy feels."

The rapper's Trill O.G. debuted within the sales charts this week.

Bun B's Trill O.G. debuted on the chart this week at No. 4. After seven days in stores, the rapper's latest disc, which The Source rated classic (5-mics), has pushed out 40,800 records.

Bun's new album was recently awarded a five-mic classic by The Source magazine.

"For every album labeled a classic, there are dozens of others that people feel deserve the honor. So I realize that people now feel they have to place my album next to others that they feel were more impactful, and argue their case. B.o.B. Defends Charles Hamilton's Mental Health, "He's Not Crazy"

Grand Hustle's B.o.B. has stepped forward to discuss the mental health of fellow rapper Charles Hamilton after his recent stay in a psychiatric facility.

According to B.o.B., all musicians are constantly exploring themselves and music.

"You have to understand... Charles Hamilton is not crazy," says B.o.B of his longtime ally. "He was in a place of extreme possibilities music-wise. He has not veered in on the reality that he wants to create. As with all artists, if we were astronauts we would be on Pluto [laughs]. We dance on the line of insanity. We really do. If you look at some of the greatest artists in history, they were really out there. It's like that movie Inception. If you don't keep something like a totem to keep you remembering who you are, you'll get lost...Charles and I are cool. I talk to him a lot. He's always discovering himself, putting his experiences into his music."

Last October, B.o.B. offered some words of encouragement to the troubled rapper.

"You know, he actually gave some good advice on ['Change Gon' Come]," B.o.B. said about their past collaboration. "He was like, 'How do you change what was written/Don't pull into mind what they mention,' and I would tell him that. I would just tell him to continue to be positive because positivity can override anything -- even the worse sh*t that happened -- even death. You know positivity is positive. You could make positive out of anything. Actually, when you think about the type of inspiration it takes to make a song, he's in a great position. Because as an artist, when everything is going great, then you're just on cruises, and you're on vacation, and you don't want to make a song. You just want to relax. It's always when something bad happens, that's when you're inspired. I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see Charles Hamilton coming out bangin'. [laughs]"

Prior to reportedly being released last week, Hamilton explained his decision to seek medical help in late July.

"Basically my stay here [NY Presbyterian Mental Hospital] is like identical to my stay in the industry. As far as being the new guy in here having to deal with politics & people trying to control you. The critics would have to be the doctors and the rounds [medicine guys]. So you can say this is like an experiment to see if the industry is really like an asylum or if I was the one bugging. Some say the Industry is like High School but it's just like a [mental hospital]."

Recently, the rapper spoke on finding new life and interest in music.

"While all this is going on, I'm on a very serious spiritual journey," Hamilton revealed in an interview. "Everything that is to come, is TBA (to be announced) because, like, what it all boils down to is, if I'm not satisfied with who I look at in the mirror, both as an artist and as a public figure, you're just not gonna see me. So interviews and everything, I love them, this is great, the spotlight is great...this time out, I'm letting everybody know, because I take music and art so serious, there's a chance I'll be scarce just to get music and I feel like I needed to say that now. The projects aren't TBA, it's just how long I'm gonna be in the limelight and this isn't to sound like I'm threatening to leave or trying to stay or anything like that, there's a bigger picture and a lot of artists hit this crossroads -- I'm so dedicated to my art that we'll talk about any project it's just that I need to make sure I'm right, within, first and that goes out to any and every aspiring artist or whatever it is that you do. Make sure you are right, within, before yougo out and say that music or your art form -- this experience is a lot bigger for me than selling some records and performing in front of a crowd."

Kanye West Confirms Amber Rose Break-Up, "That Was A One-Off" [Audio]

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has confirmed recent speculation that his relationship with girlfriend Amber Rose has finally come to an end.

Speaking with New York radio host Angie Martinez, West opened up about his two-year run with Rose.

"Yeah man, it was an amazing time and it came to an end," West said. "One of the greatest things that she showed me was just to be a nicer person because she was so disconnected from the concept of celebrity when I first met her...A celebrity could be talking to people crazy and everyone's used to it at the label like, 'He's wildin' out. It doesn't matter.' [Amber] be like, 'What?! You just talked to your fans so crazy right now. I'm not even talking to you right now.' ... I grew from that. I think that was the greatest growth that I got from that experience...My goal in life is to really have an amazing woman and have a family, but I think I had to go through these different things to grow...That was a one-off...I'm not trying to dive into anything unless I really, really think that I can marry this person. I look at this person and I say, 'This is how I want my daughter to be.'"

Details on their break-up hit the Internet in early July.

"They are still good friends," a source tells Us. "Kanye is consumed with recording his comeback record in Hawaii and had to shut it all off. When he's in work mode, he can't handle a relationship. He told Amber he needs to devote everything right now to his craft.... I wouldn't say it's over for good [for West and Rose.] It's always off-and-on when it's convenient for these two. He doesn't go out anymore and she loves it, so he lets her."

Rose is currently being linked with reality star Kim Kardashian's ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush.

Football star Reggie Bush reportedly has a new tight end. The Saints running back and ex-flame of Kim Kardashian was spotted getting cozy with Kanye West's former gal pal Amber Rose at AXE Lounge in Southampton over the weekend. "They even took bathroom breaks together," reported PerezHilton.com

Rose recently discussed her admiration for West.

"Honestly, Kanye saved my life, and I don't even think about what I would have been. I just think about what I'm going be,'" she said in an interview. "I don't look at myself as [a celebrity]. I'm just a dope chick from South Philly! I mean, it's crazy when fans come up to me and cry and just want a hug from me.'"

Soulja Boy Breaks Lock Into Film Industry, "I Wanna Do A Movie That's My Legacy"

Rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em has announced plans to link with actor/rapper Nick Canon for an upcoming film and reasoned why he wants to make a run at Hollywood.

According to Soulja Boy, his life story is still awaiting a big screen release.

"Me and Nick Cannon have been talking back and forth for, like, the last year about a movie idea," Soulja Boy said in an interview. "I did a movie with him earlier this year with Justin Bieber ['School Gyrls'], and it went straight to Nickelodeon. It was a good movie, but it was mostly for kids. We were talking back and forth, and he wants me to star in a movie that he wrote when he was, like, 17...I want people to know my story. Because a lot of people know Soulja Boy and know my songs, but a lot of people don't know where I'm from or where I came from, how I did it. A lot of people do know, but a movie would paint the picture so much better. I wanna do a movie that's my story, my legacy; what got me here and why I'm still here."

Moving into films, Soulja Boy will face competition from rappers-turned-actors including Ice Cube, 50 Cent and T.I.

The rapper - who made his acting debut in teen drama ATL in 2006 - stars in new crime thriller Takers, which he also executive produced, but doesn't see other rapper-turned-actors such as 50 Cent and Ice Cube as rivals. TI said: "I don't feel any. I don't feel any competition. I don't feel like I'm competing with anyone but myself. If anyone else does feel like that, it must suck to be them. But I don't feel like that."

Earlier this month, Soulja Boy collaborator/friend Bow Wow announced being cast in a new Tyler Perry film.

Bow Wow and Loretta Devine, who are set to appear together in the Warner Bros. comedy, 'Lottery Ticket,' will team up again in Tyler Perry's next film, 'Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family.' Perry will reprise his signature role as Madea Simmons in the film, adapted from his new stage play 'Madea's Happy Family,' which is currently on tour in the U.S. Also added to the film is current 'It' guy and Old Spice commercial pitchman Isaiah Mustafa. Devine and Bow Wow will play mother and son, while Mustafa is cast as the brother-in-law.

As of late, Soulja Boy has been working on a new album called The DeAndre Way.

"Three [beats]," Soulja Boy told radio host Tim Westwood when asked about working with Kanye West on the new album. "They sounding awesome. This album, I'm mostly doing it myself but I got a lot of producers that I'm working with. I'm working with a lot of artists, like even onTwitter. I'll send out blasts like 'Send me beats.' I got a producer called Super Sed in the 'A' that did 'Pronto,' he did 'Pronto' for Snoop Dogg..."

Foxy Brown's Brother Flees From NY Cops, Arrested On Fake Credit Card Accusations

New York rapper Foxy Brown's brother, Gavin "Pretty Boy" Marchand, was reportedly arrested last weekend on accusations of credit card forgery.

According to reports, the bust took place in Manhattan.

Gavin Marchand was arrested last Saturday (August 7th) for allegedly possessing a forged American Express card to purchase almost $8,000 worth of clothes from the Hermes store on Madison Avenue. Police were inside the store conducting surveillance when Gavin, 35, and three associates arrived at the high-end boutique. A 31-year-old man named Warren David allegedly attempted to use the card. When the men attempted to leave the store, police approached them, but the driver, Derwin Benoit, led police on a 90-mph chase, before he finally pulled over and surrendered.

The news comes one day after Brown testified in a New York court for allegedly assaulting her neighbor last month.

She may call herself "Don Diva," but the singer intends to ditch her in-your-face attitude and tell jurors that she's really just a mama's girl who's been trying to exorcise the nasty demons of her bad-girl past and now lives in her Prospect Heights brownstone with her mother, a source said. The sassy singer, whose real name is Inga Marchand, will flatly deny that a stare-down with neighbor Arlene Raymond escalated into a profane tirade and ended with her provocatively mooning the woman, the sources said. She faces felony charges from the July 21 incident. The latest legal case against the platinum-selling singer has already taken its toll on her creative energies, a source close to Foxy said. "Foxy can't even sleep at night. This is truly a nightmare," said the source.

Following her testimony, Brown spoke with media about being honest.

"I'm happy to have a chance to tell the truth about what happened," Brown told reporters while leaving the courthouse. "Today my focus is on telling the truth. It feels so good to tell the truth. This thing has been such a nightmare." Currently there is no decision on whether Brown will face felony charges for violating a restraining order the woman, Arlene Raymond, had against her.

Aside from her brother and assault, Brown also reportedly got into a fight with her manager a few weeks ago.

New York's Daily News reported that the incident occurred after Brown was six hours late for an interview in which she was to discuss last week's arrest. The rapper reportedly became combative after building staffers asked her to be quiet, and then became combative with her manager and others. She reportedly fled the scene before police arrived. The paper's report was unconfirmed at press time.

Ruff Ryders' Eve is reportedly looking to cash-in on her $2 million Hollywood Hills California home as reports suggest she has placed her residence on the market.

According to reports, she is looking to either sell or lease the home.

Rapper and actress Eve has listed her Hollywood Hills home at $2,045,000 or for lease at $15,000 a month, the Multiple Listing Service shows. The contemporary Mediterranean has large public rooms designed for entertaining and city light views. There are four bedrooms, 41/2 bathrooms and 4,297 square feet of living space. She purchased the gated house in 2005 for $1,775,000, public records indicate. The home originally came on the market a year ago at $2,395,000 and has been relisted this time with Joshua Altman and Matthew J. Altman of Hilton & Hyland, Beverly Hills, according to the MLS.

Last May, Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West also listed one of his Los Angeles homes for sale.

Kanye West is packing his Louis Vuitton trunks and moving out. The rapper has put his 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom Hollywood Hills home on the market for $3,995,000. The minimalistic, 4,214-square-foot residence features breathtaking views of Los Angeles, an aquarium in the bathtub, theater, closet akin to a designer boutique, and built-in computers to control the property. Kanye has decorated his West Coast crib with artwork from Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, and even a life-sized Buzz Lightyear. He still owns a place in New York City, but has been spending most of his time in Hawaii lately recording his fifth studio album.

After reports got out that Fat Joe was selling his Florida home due to financial problems, the rapper later came forward to deny the allegations.

"I'm selling my mansion, and I got a crib like everyone else in the world. I'm selling my home like everyone else in the world," Fat Joe joked. "Yea you know my wife she wants to move back towards the beach, we out a little west in the suburbs so you know. You know, a man just trying to live, just trying to survive man. (laughs)"

Working on a new album, Eve recently talked about being dropped from Interscope Records.

"[Interscope was] stupid because they didn't drop me at first, they [just shelfed me] and dropped the ball," Eve explained in an interview. "After 'Tambourine', they straight up were like, 'Umm, yeah, nah, we're not putting out the record.' After that I was like 'Y'all gotta let me go. I've been here 11 years and you're frontin on me?' Grammy-winning rapper Nelly has responded to ex-St. Lunatic Slo' Down after the former associate publicly blasted him for allegedly not being paid fairly while a part of the crew.

Writing on Twitter, Nelly pointed to Slo''s limited contribution to the St. Lunatics.

"I wish I could have made ova a half a mill dollars for just wearing a mask on stage!!!!!loldammm," he wrote earlier this week.

"hate ungratefulness pimp!u don't write!don't rap!!u don't even stay in the studio till the song is done!still make a halfmil"

Slo' claimed Nelly received half of all St. Lunatics' profits and did not look out for him.

"I might f*ck around and get emotional talkin' about all how that money was getting' split up, sh*t was crazy," he said. "N*ggas was eatin' and I wasn't one of them n*ggas. I was snackin'... I was lunchin', havin' lunch every now and then, and n*ggas was havin' four course meals and ain't have sh*t to do with sh*t...Whatever we did Nelly got half of that sh*t, and the rest of the group split that up...And when it came to splitting the money I wasn't part of the rest of the group...I ain't write no lyrics or nuthin but...I brought more to the stage show, [and] to the image."

Slo' reportedly linked with St. Lunatics in the mid-1990's.

Having been friends and family for years the group formed collectively in 1993. The roster, which has been consistent since the group's inception, consists of Ali, Nelly, City Spud, Kyjuan and Murphy Lee. The group dubbed itself the St. Lunatics and began crafting the unique sound that would place St. Louis on hip-hop's world map. By 1996 the crew was ready to debut its new sound. The group picked up hypeman Slo' Down to add a visual element to the act, and hit the studio to record the single "Gimme What Ya Got."

The group gained fame around the time their debut album dropped in 2001.

The group was formed in 2000 and came out with their hit, "Gimmie What U Got" and "Thug Luv for the Homiez", in 2003. After the St. Lunatics got signed to Universal Records Nelly was the first member to go solo, and while Nelly was working on his solo album Country Grammar, City Spud was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery. After Nelly's breakthrough success in 2000, the St. Lunatics released their debut album Free City in 2001 with hits such as "Summer in the City" and "Midwest Swing". Ali released his solo album Heavy Starch in 2002 and Murphy Lee released his solo album Murphy's Law in 2003.

Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj has revealed what artists she loads up into her iPod which include labelmate Drake, Beyonce and Rihanna.

The rapper also said her Young Money boss' Rebirth rock album can be found on her portable device.

Drake - "Find Your Love" I love the entire album, but "Find Your Love" is like a movie. It reminds you of something, but you kind of don't know what. Lil Wayne - Rebirth I'm [a guest performer] on that one. And I just like that he was able to cross over into rock/pop a little bit. I'm a fan of when people do what you don't expect. Aside from other artists' music, Minaj is currently prepping the release of her debut, Pink Friday.

"Things happen really quickly, and you should take a moment and absorb it," she says in a Live Q&A with Billboard.com on Friday (Aug 6). "To be honest, the last year of my life, I can't tell you where it began and ended, or what happened in between. I can't remember dates, I just keep going. I didn't realize things would move so quickly...Life is about growth and I don't want to remain the same my whole life -- I want to be able to change. I respect people that love '07 Nicki, and I'm definitely going to give you some stuff on 'Pink Friday,' I won't forget anybody. But I have to be true to me -- I started seeing different things, going to different places, eating different things. It would be fraudulent to rap the same way and look the same way, because I'm not the same. Period."

Earlier this month, Minaj said the debut has already surpassed her own expectations.

"The album is progressing miraculously, I would say," Minaj said in an interview. "It's coming out way better than I could even have imagined or dreamed or hoped for...It's been very exciting to finally just make music that I love and not really having to incorporate myself on someone else's record...I've been having a really great time...I have a record called 'Right Through Me' that I think will be a standout. It's not gonna come right now. It'll come closer to when the album drops, but it's a really, really pretty song. Everyone's gonna like it...It's just really insightful but in a very conversational kind of way."

Next month, Minaj will be competing at the annual Video Music Awards ceremony.

Writing on Twitter, the Triple C's member questioned Jeezy's issues with Ross.

Ross recently said he was perplexed with Jeezy's decision to make "The Real Blowin' Money Fast" track after he already put out "B.M.F."

"I haven't had a chance to talk to the homie," Ross said. "I really don't know what the thought process was behind it. My record was called 'Blowin' Money Fast.' It confused me that if it was called 'The Real B.M.F.,' I would have called it 'The Black Mafia Family.' ... You know, you may have to ask him. Other than that, we still reppin', we still riding, and [my] record is getting love everywhere. So it's all good."

Since Jeezy's release, the Atlanta, Georiga emcee has now put out another possible subliminal track directed at Ross called "Death Before Dishonor (B.M.F. Remix)."

Released today, Jeezy's "Death Before Dishonor (B.M.F. Remix)" has the following verse. "How you blowin' money fast? You don't know the crew / Are you part of the fam? Sh*t, I never knew / Y'all was supposed to make it hard, this is easy, h*e / "Pull up in that triple white," I think I'm Jeezy, hoe." When leaked to media today, Def Jam employees referred to the song as "the most controversial record of this year," although no formal confirmation of the diss has been made. Although Ross' name is never mentioned, many speculate that Jeezy is confronting his Def Jam label-mate.

The record will reportedly be featured on Jeezy's upcoming 1000 Grams, Volume 1 mixtape.

Game's not the only one releasing two mixtapes before his studio album. Jeezy freestyles over his labelmate Rick Ross' "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)" for his new DJ Scream mixtape 1000 Grams, Vol. 1., dropping Thursday at 1:03 p.m.

Lil Wayne Puts Young Money Protege In Charge During Prison Stint

Young Money protege Lil Twist has come forward to take credit in helping keep Lil Wayne's Internet presence up through updates on Twitter and the rapper's WeezyThanxYou blog.

According to Twist, Wayne phones him and gives a run-down on what to make up-to-date.

"He calls me," Twist said . "He lets me know what he wants me to update from time and time. Every time he calls, I update everything he wants. That's my heavy connection to his blog site...That's a hard job. But I am that...Me and Wayne, we're like brothers. He really took me in. He taught me how to do everything, he taught me the music business," Twist added. "We got a strong brother bond."

Writing via his blog, Wayne has been able to keep fans in-tune to everything he is doing while awaiting a November 4th release from prison.

"So I've been writing and let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I'm writing are... well there's no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair. I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some. I applaud my Young Money family for what they're doing. As I'm not surprised. This is what we're supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. According to Wayne's co-manager and Young Money CEO Cortez Bryant, a new Wayne EP will hit stores before he is released.

"I'm putting out a [Wayne] album called I'm Not A Human Being and I'll probably drop it on his birthday, September 27...We not about to roll out no three month set up. I'm not even putting it out in stores. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give 'em a hard copy later for fan appreciation."

Last March, Twist reportedly signed a record deal with Young Money.

Drake and Nicki Minaj aren't the only ones in Young Money creating industry buzz. Now teen rapper Lil Twist, who has long been associated with Young Money has officially signed his deal with rapper Lil Wayne's label Young Money Entertainment. Lil Twist has officially inked his contract with Universal/Young Money, with a rumored 1.3 million dollar signing bonus. Twist's debut album is set for release late this summer. His official single "Love Affair" is gaining lots of attention from the fans and he is shooting a video for that in the upcoming week.

Eminem Shares Fear Of Dying, "It Creeps Me The F*ck Out"

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem opens up and reveals his fear of dying in the new August/September VIBE.

In his cover feature, Em recalls being rushed to the hospital a few years ago after nearly overdosing from drugs.

"Yeah, I do," Em said when asked if he thinks about his own death. "A lot. I think about it a lot. I try not to think about it but I do and it creeps me the f*ck out. It creeps me out because they say that if I got to the hospital two hours later then I would be gone. I think about that a lot. When I lay in bed at night is when I think about it the most. It creeps me out man."

Em recently said he concealed drug addiction to save his rap image.

"It took me awhile to admit I actually did have a problem," the musician said. "In the hip-hop world that I live in, it can be mistaken for weakness and the last thing you want to do in hip-hop is admit that you're weak. But if I didn't admit I was weak with this certain thing I was going to die." When asked how close he was to death, the artist responded that he "was certainly a couple of hours away from death," adding that he "overdosed and almost died." But he pulled himself back from the brink and re-entered rehab with a more honest, committed attitude: "I had to admit I had a problem. I had to do it for myself," Eminem said.

Last January, music veteran Elton John revealed he was helping Em fight through drug addiction.

"I've been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he's doing brilliantly," John says, reports the British Press Association. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 in the U.K. on Saturday, Sir Elton, 62, who has freely spoken about his own past issues with substance abuse, said: "I'm there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there's no point advising people if they don't want to do it."

In a past interview, the rapper said drugs forced his transition into producing.

"I wasn't ready to give up drugs," Em explained. "I didn't really think I had a problem...I felt like I wanted to pull back, because my drug problem had got so bad. I felt like, maybe if I take a break, maybe this will help. I started to get into the producer role more."

Bun B Plans Hip-Hop Takeover, "It's Time For Texas To Move Back To The Top"

UGK's Bun B recently talked about the motivation behind his upcoming Trill OG album and said his homestate, Texas, is coming back for the top spot in hip-hop.

Bun believes his new solo effort will help motivate the Texas emcees to step up.

"Texas has had incredible moments in the history of hip-hop. But there is a misconception that because we aren't at the forefront that we aren't here at all. But we're still making music, going on tour and getting in front of and connecting with the people...It's time for Texas to move back to the top and in order for that to happen, someone has to take charge. Since I call myself the Trill OG, the first thing I have to do is round up the troops. That's what this album is -- to show that Texas is back. I'm just taking the lead and bringing everyone else with me."

Last year, Bun talked about the decline in music sales and which Texas artist would be next to reach mainstream fame.

"I wonder if people who ask Southern artists [about their past streaks also] ask West coast artists or Midwest artists or New York artists that, because all those regions are falling off," Bun said in an interview. "Hip-Hop, in general, doesn't have the demand power it used to in any region. We had a good run in Houston, but every region's in trouble. There are really only six people making money off rap music. Everybody knows that...I definitely think that Z-Ro is on the brink of becoming a national superstar. It's pretty much up to him to decide whether he goes as far as he wants to go. The only thing holding Z-Ro back is Z-Ro."

He recently shared his reaction to former Texas rap rivals Paul Wall and Chamillionaire reuniting after years of estrangement.

"I think it's a great thing for hip-hop in general," Bun explained in an interview. "When you have good people that make good music together come together and make great music, it's a great thing. We don't worry about circumstances; we just appreciate the opportunity to see great music being made again. It's definitely a resurgence of Houston music right now. The second wave is coming. This is just something to kick everybody in the nuts, like you better get it right because we trying to get it down here in the H."

Last year's UGK album landed on the sales charts and marked the final group project.

Southern rap group UGK released their final group album UGK 4 Life which opened at No. 6. With seven days under their belt, the late Pimp C and Bun B's final disc sold 76,600 discs.

Bun B's Trill OG drops Tuesday, August 3rd.

Beanie Sigel To Jay-Z, "Stop Stalling, Let's Get It Already" [Video]

Former Roc-A-Fella artist Beanie Sigel has continued to taunt Jay-Z by blasting his former rap boss with a freestyle diss at a Maryland concert.

Reciting the same diss he performed at a Philadelphia concert last February, Beans and his entourage once again taunted Hov at Baltimore's Sonar nightclub this past weekend.

"Lost the Best of Both Worlds, you could of called R. Kelly," Beans rapped, "Mister 2-3, since he's got the arch already, you supposed to pass that Roc when the ball got heavy/Instead he's getting picked at half court already -- he 45 and playing for the Wizards already/Stop stalling, let's get it already/Number one rap recording would have spit it already/I'm a nightmare and will show up in your dreams like Freddy/Sigel, Desert Eagle Arc heavy, already/N*ggas is running scared already/Memph Bleek peed the sheets and leave the bed all wetty..."

Last month, Sigel talked about regretting his past loyalty to Jay during their beef with Ruff Ryders in 2001.

"Only thing I regret about that Roc-A-Fella sh*t was going at my n*gga Kiss," Beans said in an interview referencing his 2001 beef with Jadakiss. "I did that sh*t for you n*gga 'cause you were scared. You knew Kiss would have bit that a**. I should pull off my belt and whip that a**. You better watch who you worship, man...I know all that f*ggot sh*t you poppin' and the little slurs on Drake and them's records and I'ma tell y'all little motherf*ckers something, y'all keep letting that n*gga get on records and pop sh*t. I'ma start coming at cha'll little n*ggas. I'll smack the sh*t outta Drake b*tch a**. All y'all n*ggas, f*ck all y'all. This is Broad Street Bully, B. Sig, I have no problem seeing anybody on site."

In January, Jay said he was shocked at the disses Beans made toward him.

"This rap music and the competitive by nature, nothing really surprises me anymore but I'll honestly say, that was one that was like a shocker," Hov said in an interview. "When you from a certain place, cut from a certain cloth, there's certain things that's just off limits. When you cross that line, we put you in a different box. That one was a little surprising. The competitive nature of rap music dictates that's how it goes more times than it's not...I think everybody run outta ideas, it's all just marketing at this point. I don't even think it's competition anymore..."

Aside from rap beefs, Def Jam VP of A&R Sha Money XL recently said Sigel has been working on a follow-up to 2007's The Solution.

"Redman's getting ready to deliver. Method Man's getting ready to get started. Beanie Sigel, I had a conversation with him," Sha revealed in an interview. "Hopefully he'll get back over here. He's here, but, just really getting in the mind frame like he's getting ready to put an album out, getting right because he's the sh*t."

Drizzy Drake held court in his hometown of Toronto over the weekend as he and his crew, October's Very Own, hosted the "OVO Fest," their own self-produced concert that featured the likes of Jay-Z and Eminem as guest performers.

But before the show, the Young Money MC took time out to speak to RapFix and open up about the direction he's hoping the take his sophomore set.

Drake said he felt that he had so much to say on his debut, Thank Me Later, that at times he was actually rapping too much.

Here, T.Dot's favorite son talks about what he plans to do different on the next one. (And it's RapFix.com, Drake!)

"What I was is just for the records to be enjoyed with out it being too complex," Drake explained. "I think rapping for 32 bars sometimes you lose a partial audience. The audience that sometimes wants to hear a great hook and feel good. Your lyrics, as long as their said clearly, they'll learn them. I take a lot of pride in my verse and I think on my last album and I think that I had so much to say that I felt like I had to rap for 32 bars on every single song. But this next album I'm going to challenge myself to put 32-bar thoughts into 16 bars, which is gonna be harder.

"Much like I did like on "The Resistance," I wanna do more songs like that," he added. "They're shorter and radio can play them; not that their radio records. But I wanna switch my format up a bit, just to challenge myself and try something new. Cause this album has to be better than So Far Gone and Thank Me Later put together."

Nicki Minaj Vows To Reveal Album Title Tonight, "A Promise Is A Promise"

Young Money's Nicki Minaj has made a public promise to announce the title of her forthcoming debut album tonight.

Promising she would make a UStream broadcast once she reached over 1 million Twitter followers, the rapper met her goal over the weekend.

"WOW #TeamMinaj we did it!!! We really did it?!?!?! *pops champagne* 1 MILLION followers!!! Thank u to every single million of u! :-)," she wrote late Sunday (August 1) night.

"Ok u guyz. A promise is a promise. Ustream tomorrow. I'll be announcing the name of the album and much more :-) 11.23.10"

"Not sure of the time but it'll be late in the day. I'll keep u posted! I'm thinking maybe 8pm EST."

Last month, the rapper playfully suggested calling her debut, The Album.

Nicki's fans will be crying tears of joy when her long-anticipated debut album hits stores. She promises the project will be out before the end of the year, and she's focusing heavily on recording her own songs. "Maybe a few things cooking," Nicki answered with a smile when asked if she has any more guest appearances coming up. "But right now, it's all about the album. November 23. Nothing comes before that." Then Nicki contemplated the title of her project. "Maybe we should call it ...The Album," she ruminated. "Nicki Minaj: The Album," she continued before dismissing the idea. "I don't know, it'll come."

Last spring, Minaj hinted at linking with Grammy-winning producer/rapper Kanye West for the LP.

"I'm probably definitely going to work with Kanye," she revealed in an interview. "On my debut, I worked with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he's gonna send me something. I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I accept beats from everybody."

She originally announced her debut album release via Twitter.

Barbie fans across the world can rejoice. Nicki Minaj's as-yet-untitled debut album will officially hit stores on November 23. The news comes just four days after the Jamaica, Queens rapper took to her twitter account to alert fans about the special day. "Yes. It's time. November 23rd," she wrote last Thursday afternoon. At the time, XXLMag.com spoke to reps for her label at Young Money/Cash Money, and they couldn't confirm the date. But today, they informed us that the date is indeed set in stone.

Eminem & Jay-Z Help Drake Put On For His City [Video]

Eminem and Jay-Z showed support for Drake on the last night of the OVO Festival in Toronto with surprise performances.

Both Em and Jay came out at around the end of Drake's concert.

The loudest cheers of the night by far, as Eminem joined Drake on stage for his verse on "Forever." Slim Shady kicked the rapid fire flow, decked out in all black everything. He disappeared as quickly as he arrived. But Toronto showed their appreciation for every second Em was on stage. Things are heating up. There's another surprise up next. Just when things couldn't climb another decibel, Drake takes it up one more level (on top of nose bleeds, as J.Cole would say) by bringing out Brooklyn's finest. Jay-Z joined the Toronto upstart on stage for "Run this Town."

The event also hosted guest performances from Def Jam's Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.

Other guests joining him included Rick Ross, Toronto's own Kardinall Offishall and opener Young Jeezy but it was the former star of Degrassi: The Next Generation who everyone - included the woman who had bedazzled Mrs. Drake on her t-shirt while others carried placards saying "I Love You Drake" - came to see. There was definitely a sense of hometown pride amongst the youth gathered at the lakeside shed. "This is home baby!" screamed an equally excited Drake to huge cheers.

Details on last night's Drake concert hit the Internet around mid-July.

It's called the OVO Festival, it'll be going down August 1 in Toronto, and it'll feature Drake alongside Young Jeezy, Bun B, Francis & the Lights, and artists to be named at a later date. Says Drake: "I truly believe this is entertainment at a level that the city has never seen before. I'm hoping that it is a safe and magical night and that OVO Festival becomes tradition every year." His very own music festival,already? Does Taylor Swift even have her own festival?

In February, Drake talked about the importance of representing for his city.

"Toronto is the biggest inspiration behind my music," he said in an interview. "I do everything I do for Toronto. It's a city I really believe in. It's got a bunch of great people. We got a lot of undiscovered things in Toronto, man: women, nightlife, restaurants, clubs and talent. Women, first. I just wanna bring the city to the forefront. I feel like every place needs an ambassador. They need somebody to show the rest of the world how magical that place can be. I think Jay[-Z] does it for New York, a lot of people do it for Atlanta, Kanye did it for Chicago. A lot of rappers take it upon themselves. So I just really wanna be that guy for Toronto."

Roc Nation artist Wale recently talked about being in competition with rap newcomers like Kid Cudi, Drake and Asher Roth and how their aspirations are similar to athletes'.

Wale believes there is never any real satisfaction or sense of accomplishment for rappers.

"One of us got the most record sales, the other one wants the most fame," Wale explained when asked about competing with Drake, Asher Roth and Kid Cudi. "One of them has the most fame, the other one wants to have the credibility to be a true hip-hop person. One of them is more of a true hip-hop person but the other one is more record sales. It's just like in the NBA, one guy gets this kind of money but then there's another guy who plays in the West Coast that makes this kinda money and that sounds good but he wants as much money as him and now this guy wants the same money as LeBron [James] but then LeBron wants as much money as [New York Yankees'] A-Rod, from another sport. Nobody's ever really satisfied but that's just human nature though."

Last April, Lupe Fiasco talked about creating a rap supergroup called All City Chess Club which includes Wale, Charles Hamilton, J. Cole, Asher Roth and other relatively new mainstream emcees.

"It's kinda this new vanguard," Lupe explained in his interview. "The kids who wouldn't necessarily be the basketball team they would probably be the Chess Club if we was in high school. And I was like 'Yo, we all from different cities. We the All City Chess Club.' ... I just wanted it to be the collective of those dudes and put a name on it. Like they already kinda put us all in the same box. They kinda put us in the same family of MC's whether it be the hipster rappers or the nerd rappers...Since they putting us in a box, might as well own the box. And write our name on the box and paint it the color we want it."

Wale's debut album, Attention: Deficit, landed on the sales chart last November.

Rap newcomer Wale's long-awaited Attention: Deficit landed on the charts this week debuting at No. 21. After seven days on store shelves, the rapper's new album shelled out 28,300 copies.

Following its release, Wale's manager Daniel Weisman discussed his first-week sales.

"Wale's the type of artist who is bigger than the metrics say he is," Weisman said in an interview. "That puts the label in a tough position in terms of physical distribution and because of Twitter we are able to hear direct feedback from the fans about the problems they had actually finding the CD. But 64 percent of Wale's sales came from digital outlets which makes sense for Wale. It's a testament to Interscope and their confidence in Wale's brand that they put the record out without a big single."

J. Cole Unzips Backpacker Misconceptions, "I Got Bigger Aspirations Than That" [Video] + Burned By Hometown Controversy

Roc Nation's J. Cole has revealed his biggest rap misconception and said people tend to believe he is solely a representative of backpack rappers.

Although he prides himself in making non-commerical rap records, Cole said people tend to box him into one category.

"Biggest misconception, [it's] that I'm a backpack rapper," Cole said in an interview when asked about the public's biggest misconception of himself. "I feel that people [assume that], which is cool, I represent the backpack kids but I feel like I got bigger aspirations than just that. I don't mean to break the hearts of all the backpackers out there but you can't box me in that small."

In a past interview, Cole said he found inspiration in rap icons like Nas and the late Tupac Shakur.

"The more lyrical rappers. I gravitate toward the classic and more lyrical rappers," he explaind in an interview. "Sometimes when I'm in the studio we spend an hour on YouTube watching old rap and freestyle. For a while there it was really lyrical and witty and was always personalized. I'm drawn toward storytellers like Nas and Tupac. I'm realizing my own work in this day is generally not something that is out there. There is a lot of talent, but they just aren't putting out what I am. The whole game is exciting but nobody in a long time has come out with the skills for lyrical writing that I am coming out with."

Speaking with radio personality Jenny Boom Boom earlier this summer, Cole opened up about reaching his debut album's completion.

"I'm practically, almost finished," he said laughing. "Every song that's on my album is there now. It's just about tying up the loose ends. One song needs like two verses, [another] song still needs some instruments. But I do finally have all the songs that are going to be on my album. I was missing, like, two songs before...[Jay-Z] is super impressed. I think he's more so impressed with the fact that I kind of just did this on my own. I got in [the studio] with No I.D., but a lot of the stuff has been coming from me. So I feel like [Jay] looks at me like, 'Yo, he can really produce.' ... [The label] says October 26th. I say it'll be before that."

Last June, Cole talked with SOHH about his new "Who Dat" music video.

"I think it was an excellent reception," Cole told SOHH. "I just wish I would've explained to people more that it was a one shot, that we shot on film and even when you watch it in HD version it looks incredible because it was on 35mm film which is what they use to shoot movies with. Even with that said I think people respect the fact that I went home [to Fayetteville, NC]. I didn't come out with a whole bunch of jewelry, a whole bunch of light skinned girls with short shorts on. It's a real organic feeling video. I really wish I would've explained more to people but you know in time people will get it. They'll see all the imagery and all the little signs."

Roc Nation's J. Cole has addressed recent controversy surrounding his home state tribute "Who Dat" music video after Fayetteville State University administrators denounced the music for its "explicit content."

Cole believes the issues stemmed from the Chancellor James Anderson who could not see a positive message behind his rhymes.

"He pretty much had a problem with the cheerleaders appearing in the video," Cole said about Fayetteville State's issue with his viral video. "We had the cheerleaders from FSU, we had the highschool marching band from one of the local schools -- basically the chancellor of Fayetteville State was upset because of my language. He was upset that everything fell into place, the highschool had to say the same thing but I feel that's their age difference. That's that social, cultural difference in age. Like, they can't look past the curse words and see somebody from Fayetteville made it out and is actually doing something positive that they like and wants to come back and shine some light on the city and they can't look past the curse words. I understand but that's not how the city feels, it's how he feels."

Last month, administrators were trying to pull the video from media outlets.

Schools Superintendent Frank Till Jr. issued a statement Tuesday demanding the new J. Cole video "Who Dat" be pulled immediately from the Internet and TV. FSU Chancellor James Anderson apologized in a letter to alumni for Bronco cheerleaders who appear in the video. It was filmed this spring in Fayetteville, where J. Cole grew up.

They also denied having knowledge of the video containing explicit language.

"I think it shows the school and the city in a negative light," Till said. "I think it was a legitimate mistake on the school's part...We don't allow that kind of language in our school...Why would we allow our students to do something like this?" Till said the video was shot after school hours and that each student turned in a release form signed by a parent. School officials at the scene of the video shoot said they didn't hear profane lyrics.

Following its release, Cole talked with SOHH about shooting the clip in North Carolina.

T.I. and Tiny weren’t the only ones getting hitched this weekend. Another one of music’s high-profile couples, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, was married in an intimate ceremony in Italy.

Miss Info was first to reveal the couple’s union, which took place aboard a 260-foot yacht on the Mediterranean Sea, near Sardinia’s exclusive Costa Smeralda enclave. The celebration was attended by close family and friends.

Before breaking out the champagne across the Atlantic, the couple legally wed in the Tri-State region. During those nuptials, Keys reportedly wore a Vera Wang gown, Swizz was outfitted in Tom Ford, and both rocked footwear personally designed by their friend Christian Louboutin.

Prior to walking down the aisle, Swizz celebrated with two bachelor parties, one in New York and one at Sardinia’s opulent Billionaire Club on Friday (July 30).

Keys is pregnant with the couple’s first child, due later this year. This is the first marriage for the Grammy-winning singer and second for Swizz, who was previously married to R&B singer Mashonda.

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West invaded the Rolling Stone office this week to preview cuts from his upcoming solo album and explain the comeback process.

Details and footage of his latest cross-country stop hit the Internet Friday (July 30).

After gesturing for all the office's interns to join him and ask questions, West said he'd love to work with Lauryn Hill ("she's last of a dying breed") and Thom Yorke, made frequent references to Anchorman, Dodgeball and Semi-Pro, and joked that Twitter was designed with him in mind. "Rock stars just get scared and just run away from popular culture," he said. "It takes so much for me and Eminem to come back and embrace [it] and say, 'You know what? We have to deliver this on a major level to make a difference.'"

Earlier this week, West visited the office of social network site Twitter.

Kanye West's tour of Silicon Valley continued. After meeting withFacebook on Tuesday, the newest celebrity to join Twitter stopped by the micro-blogging service's headquarters for a visit that included him rapping new material from his as-yet-untitled album. "I admit my first watch was a Fossil, now I'm in the Louvre looking for fossils." "Lyrically can't none of ya'll murder 'Ye 'cause y'all raps ain't got no vertebrae/ And we all know the beats is like a mix between Fergie and Jesus."

A day prior, Yeezy shocked fans by showing up at FaceBook and freestyling new material.

Remember when Kanye first debuted he repeatedly said how much he wants to get respected as a rapper? Well, by now anybody with ears for rapping can attest to Mr. West's lyricism. Thanks to continuous reports and co-signs from hip-hop heavyweights who heard tracks off Good A** Job, the anticipation for the album continues to rise. Adding fuel to the fire, this clip of Yeezy humbly spitting several verses off his upcoming LP at Facebook HQ just adds a smile to our faces. "I am the day Ice Cube meets Mike Jackson. Keep them away, huh? Something might happen." Yea, son hear it for yourself.

Following his set, West blogged about the experience.

"To all my friends at Facebook, Many times in life I've had to deal with moments of doubt. And as it's been a minute since I've performed any fresh material in front of an audience, this could've been one of those moments... but it wasn't. Your energy was a gift so electric, so genuine, that it really helped me give my best. The energy was so inspiring I had to keep going! I just hope you got as much from me as I got from you...which was everything! Love to all my fans, especially at Facebook. Kanye West."

Wiz Khalifa Passes On Rick Ross' Maybach Deal, Makes Label Announcement

Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa has turned down an opportunity to sign with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Def Jam imprint for a deal with Atlantic Records.

Wiz made the move official via a broadcasted announcement on Friday (July 30).

"Yeah, I'm signing to Atlantic," Khalifa said. "We've been working on it for a minute. I wanted to make sure that I had records that I was comfortable with before I went to any label or any situation. I wanted to make sure I had my direction so when I take it to them it's like, 'Let's go.' ... It's a huge honor for [Ross] to even extend a hand like that. [It's] crazy for him to even look out like that. Me and Ross is always gonna be working. He sees my vision. I think he gets what I'm trying to do. Even if it ain't no paperwork between me and Ross, it's gonna be work done between me and Ross."

Ross publicly offered Wiz a chance to join a roster which includes his rap crew, Triple C's.

"You know, Wiz, what's happening, this is the Boss, Ricky Ross, Teflon Don," the rapper said in an interview. "You know we spoke of this in the last week or two, but my question is even more personal that I'd love to ask you right now. What would it take for us to close the deal, Wiz Khalifa and Maybach Music? I feel like the homie is a superstar. We discussed this last week. He's most definitely loyal to his team. But like I told him, there's always more to get."

Recently, both emcees hopped on the "Super High" remix.

"Ross just kept it G, dawg. He seen my movement, he seen Curren$y's movement. He recognized what we do together, but he recognized us as individuals as well as a team," Wiz said about the experience. "He reached out in a real way. Spiff [TV] called us. I think he reached out to Spitta first. Then Spiff, he reached out to me. I was still on another leg of my tour. So as soon as I got done with the last leg of my tour, soon as I got home, I went straight to the studio and knocked out the verse, sent it to Ross. He was like, 'I love it. I'm flying you out next week. We doing the video.'"

After Wiz's Deal Or No Deal album dropped last year, the rapper's label, Rostrum Records, hit up SOHH to speak on his movement.

"We have built a strong fanbase for Wiz," representative Arthur Pitt explained to SOHH, "even after leaving [Warner Bros. Records] and continue to do our thing grassroots. We dropped the album at a tough time too with no radio presence, major network video coverage, etc. 86 percent of the sales were digital which indicates the grip he has on the net which is the future of the business. We barely shipped more than a few thousand into stores...The impact that this album has had is just another stepping stone in Wiz's career. We are more concerned about artist development and building a real fanbase rather than have overnight success. This is my 5th year being a part of Wiz's career and we all couldn't be happier with the results. "

Kelly Rowland Album Gone Till November

Kelly Rowland has been swept up in the latest round of album pushbacks. The Destiny’s Child diva has yet another release date.

The as-yet-untitled third album from Rowland is now scheduled to arrive on November 2, Rap-Up.com has learned. The project, for which she’s collaborated with Ne-Yo, David Guetta, and Bangladesh, was previously set to drop a week earlier on October 26.

Ms. Kelly is currently in the Land Down Under for an international promo tour. She performed at the Optus Love Lounge in Sydney for the Australian launch of the iPhone 4 and has been visiting radio stations.

She was interviewed by The Daily Telegraph where she spoke about a new girl power anthem she recorded called “I’m That Chick.” She also hopes to write with “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert.

New York rapper Foxy Brown has shared her reaction to movie actress Lindsay Lohan's 90-day jail sentence and explaining how she can relate to being a jailed celebrity.

Brown said Lohan's stint behind bars reminded her of being sent to Rikers Island for a year on a parole violation in 2007.

"My heart goes out to Lindsay Lohan. I watched her being taken to jail and it brought back tears and memories. It wasn't all negative, I have to say that," Brown said in an interview. "People just automatically think that prison stereotypically is the worst place. I was unlawfully sent to prison for a year, but I kind of welcomed the serenity when I was sentenced and I knew I had to deal with this...When Puff says 'Mo money, mo problems,' it's really true. It's such a blessing being a celebrity. There are a lot of perks to being a celebrity, but the downside of it? Oh, man. You're constantly targeted. We all need to be law-abiding citizens, but I think each case needs to be ruled by the law, as opposed to this is a celebrity who is doing this and needs to be taught a lesson."

New York rapper Lil Kim recently vowed to support Lohan through her bid.

Lil' Kim whipped up her very own milkshake to mark her 35th birthday at Millions of Milkshakes in West Hollywood on Sunday (July 11). The Queen Bee, who spent her own time behind bars, also weighed in on Lindsay Lohan's 90-day jail sentence. "There's a lot of bigger fish to be fried when it comes to the justice system," she shared. "Lindsay, she's my friend and I will be there for her and I will help her. I love you, Linds."

Prior to beginning her sentence earlier this month, Lohan hit up Twitter and channeled 50 Cent's "Patiently Waiting" 2003 record.

"in the words of 50 cent.. 'You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house and if you got a glass jaw, you should watch yo mouth," she wote Tuesday (July 13).

Lohan may be released as early as this weekend.

Lohan, 24, is expected to be released by Sunday or Monday after serving two weeks of her 90-day sentence for violating probation in a drunken driving case. She'll next be headed for an L.A.-area residential rehab center.

Nicki Minaj Scrambles Through Possible Debut Titles, "Maybe We Should Call It 'The Album'"

Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj has begun cooking up titles for her long-awaited debut album, tossing off one unmistakeable name, The Album.

While a definitive title has not been determined yet, Minaj confirmed reports that November is when her debut will hit stores.

Nicki's fans will be crying tears of joy when her long-anticipated debut album hits stores. She promises the project will be out before the end of the year, and she's focusing heavily on recording her own songs. "Maybe a few things cooking," Nicki answered with a smile when asked if she has any more guest appearances coming up. "But right now, it's all about the album. November 23. Nothing comes before that." Then Nicki contemplated the title of her project. "Maybe we should call it ... The Album," she ruminated. "Nicki Minaj: The Album," she continued before dismissing the idea. "I don't know, it'll come."

Recently, Minaj revealed that Black Eyed Peas' frontman Will.i.am will be involved in the project.

"I don't want to say too much, but I just did some work with will.i.am," Minaj said in an interview. "Just something for my album that I'm really excited about. The album is much more emotional than you anticipate, which is a great thing. And I know women are gonna connect to the album so much. I felt like for so many years I was the girl who did the catchy little raps, and it's time for me now to tell my story, and in telling my story, I'm really telling every girl's story. We all go through the same thing. So the album is gonna feel very personal to every female."

Last spring, Minaj hinted at linking with Grammy-winning producer/rapper Kanye West for the LP.

"I'm probably definitely going to work with Kanye," she revealed in an interview. "On my debut, I worked with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he's gonna send me something. I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I accept beats from everybody."

The animated rapper's originally announced her debut album date hit via twitter. .

Barbie fans across the world can rejoice. Nicki Minaj's as-yet-untitled debut album will officially hit stores on November 23. The news comes just four days after the Jamaica, Queens rapper took to her twitter account to alert fans about the special day. "Yes. It's time. November 23rd," she wrote last Thursday afternoon. At the time, XXLMag.com spoke to reps for her label at Young Money/Cash Money, and they couldn't confirm the date. But today, they informed us that the date is indeed set in stone.
